Chapter 25 - A Hated Ally (Part 3)

Meanwhile, Rikimaru continued his fight with Flitz in his mind, wanting to seize total control of the body.

What remained of Flitz's existence was a speck of fire, struggling to survive. It was his soul. The blue flames should've been extinguished but it continued to blaze unyieldingly.

Rikimaru's angry screams were unceasing but knowingly he was unable to attain victory, he stopped and tried to converse.

"Flitz Kuran, your name is it?" Rikimaru mentally said.

Sensing their mental battle was stopped, Flitz's speck of soul finally blazed stably. He could finally talk.

"Yes, I am." He answered.

Rikimaru smiled as he could still initiate a conversation. A wicked gleam flashed across his eyes.

"Geython is your benefactor right?" He asked.

Confused by his question, Flitz still replied, "Yes, what do you mean by that?"

"Then do you know how he died?" Rikimaru laughed.

By the question, it implied that Geython was already dead. And the devil audaciously asked him when he was maybe the cause of it. Flitz was filled with strong hate.

"You killed him?!" Flitz howled angrily. Despite he knew the devil was engaging a tactic with him to make his mind unstable, he couldn't help but explode.

Rikimaru was delighted by his outburst. He laughed before he answered profoundly, "I'll gladly do it but I couldn't"

Flitz was again confused but he somehow understood the underlying meaning.

"Then someone than you killed him? Impossible, he was strong and respected. No one could hate him or kill him. Only assassins were here, there are no other 3rd parties!" He crazily shouted.

"Hmmp" Rikimaru snorted. "How about those higher ups?"

"The council members?" Flitz refused the notion. "Geython was a silent man. How could he offend someone? Even if he disregarded them during his every report, he had the ability to do so. They could not be petty."

Rikimaru mockingly laughed at him. "Well, I've seen everything from the start. He was killed mercilessly. Your benefactor screamed like a girl that even I wanted to kill him myself."

He laughed in great intensity.

Flitz became even more resolute to his conjecture. "Geython would never scream like that."

After speaking that sentence, he finally calmed down. It was all just nonsense from the devil to wreck his thoughts.

"What? You're silent now. How about I let you peer into my memories so you can be convinced?" Rikimaru sneered.

However, Flitz didn't reply. He could not care less. He was not an idiot to fall into his trap.

Sensing that Flitz didn't answer, Rikimaru was angered. "Fine, I wanted to entrap you but I also said the truth. So here it is."

Rikimaru created shards of mirror-like memories in his mind. Large amounts of memory were filled with mountains of corpses and rivers of blood. But what occupied most everything was desolate solitude, trapped in unknown space.

But the noteworthy thing was the screams of the deeply familiar voice of Geython.

Flitz immediately perked up and peered through that shard of memory. And he had witnessed everything. What Rikimaru said was the truth. It was indeed a higher up that killed Geython mercilessly but instead like any other, it was someone of the highest authority.

- The Supreme Leader himself

Flitz expression was utterly astounded and he couldn't believe at the sight.

"Your Supremacy?" He spoke in disbelief.

"Yes, you can also think it was all a lie. But the voice, features, expressions; everything was totally real that it can't be possibly imitated." Rikimaru strongly laughed.

After a long time, he calmed down. But the expression of Flitz was never changing. He then tried to put salt and mockingly said.

"Now, how it felt to stake your life to the organization who betrayed you? How it felt to see your benefactor dies amidst everyone's derision?"

Every single sentence twisted Flitz's expression. However, Rikimaru never stopped.

"You served yet you were treated like nothing. By now, after you failed in subduing me, even if they managed to purge me, you will be casted away like a tool. Just like your benefactor, after he had lost his worth, he was killed as if some pest."

"But who would have thought that it was your supreme ruler who killed him? Who would have thought that you willingly struggled in unimaginable pain just to save someone who killed the person whom had helped you? And the laughable thing was that you passed your will just to be treated like dirt."

Rikimaru laughed like he had never had. Flitz's expression was utterly unsightly and his mind was totally disordered. Rikimaru smiled wide and the gleam of his eyes was now apparent. He could overwhelm Flitz and took over the body.

But suddenly, Flitz's soul that was only a speck of fire suddenly blazed crazily as if poured by an oil.

Rikimaru had his expression twisted and he began to madly seize control of the body. However, he was losing instead.

"How it can be? Why are you becoming powerful? What fueled you, damned human?" Rikimaru howled desperately.

"What else, you devil. It's hatred." Flitz finally took full control to his body and he was aware of the change. He had become an Early Divergence Realm Practitioner.

His innate constitution was even more apparent. He was still lean but every contracting muscle silently exploded within him an unimaginable power. He was brimmed with strength. He felt every swing from him could annihilate a towering mountain. He could drain the seas and uplift the oceans. He could break the heavens and decimate the earth.

"Boom"

He clenched his fist and produced a terrifying sound. It was testament to his current strength.

His appearance was no longer a devil. There were no longer sharp nails and blood-red pair of eyes but the normal Flitz Kuran.

He stared at the walls and felt the fleeing Voltar Xulem towards that wall. He grabbed the air although there was nothing. However, Voltar sensed something different at his surroundings. He felt a great foreboding danger.

"This--" Voltar was shocked. The area around him constricted him as if he was trapped by metals. Precisely, it was deeply compressed wind shackling him.

Afterwards, as if magnetized, it flew across the skies back towards the island. Voltar immediately became terrified.

There was no longer thick evil aura across the oceans and the island. However, Voltar felt it was more terrifying. It meant the devil had finally seized full control of the body. His pale was gravely pale.

As he arrived to the island, like he was some stone to be thrown, he slammed into the hard and rough cave.

"Boom"

As if a sword, he pierced inside and straightfully down to the crystal jadeite palace within it. Afterwards, he shot through it and arrived to the broken hall. Only then he was freed from the constricting restraints.

If he was not a half-ocean folding realm cultivator with a great density of refined essences, he would have long become mashed up. He lied rooted into the ground, almost lifeless. Tears, bruises, cuts, fractures, broken bones, bloody wounds; were at his body. Especially his head that was drenched from his own blood.

Large chunks of crystal jade, pillars, mangled human flesh, pool of blood, destroyed floating chairs; we're seen at this hall.

However, Voltar became aghast at the standing person at the corner. It was Flitz Kuran and he emanated thick evil aura coursing across the body. There many tails from the aura, looking like long snakes that slowly wiggled.

"Your Supremacy" Flitz's tone was different from the usual. It was filled with the devil's tone, cryptic and eerie.

Hearing Flitz's voice, Voltar's terror had greatly diminished. He could not stand up but he appeared grateful, looking at Flitz.

"You're alive! But-- " He immediately became apprehensive. This was maybe the true devil playing at his emotions. He arrived at this place almost dead and that drastically prove his speculation. In a flash, he was terrified.

Making him more terrified, Flitz approached him. Every step trembled his heart and flickered his expression. Unlike previously, he was not frozen in spot and he moved backwards this time.

"Devil, what can you accomplish by killing me? You have eradicated the whole organization!"

"The founding palace had already collapsed. There's no basically reviving Ravarisk. What reason should you exterminate every one?"

Voltar's shouts resounded out to the hall but Flitz never halted. His back hit the wall of the corner, and was now a cornered rat. He inhaled a huge deal of breath as the devil became nearer. But he couldn't wait at his demise.

The wall behind him was made of crystal jadeite and thus, unbreakable. The reason he arrived here successfully because of the constricting wind element that enabled him to plunged through easily. Hence, he must confront the devil for his survival.

He unleashed his two elements. Blood rapidly oozed out from the soles of his feet. Whereas his whole body was leaking out violet smokes.

The entire hall was now filled with hazy violet smoke, blocking the view. Afterwards, the pool of blood from the humans around, or precisely, the council members' blood, joined the blood that Voltar created.

Looking at his comrades' blood being absorbed by their own ruler, Flitz was filled with detest.

"You treated anyone like nothing." Flitz said hatefully.

Hearing the words, Voltar became enraged, "As if I want to hear it from the devil."

Suddenly, the blood formed a large wave. It was coming to Flitz. However, he silently exploded it. But Voltar was just starting.

Into the space created by the explosion of the blood, the sheer amount of violet smoke compressed into a ball and entered through it, coursing towards Flitz's face. But Flitz swept his hand and hit it, exploding it. As a result, his vision was hindered.

He was not given a time to rest before an enormous wave of blood, bigger than the earlier, slammed towards him. Flitz immediately controlled the wind to sweep it around.

It created a tornado within the hall and the wave was forced to pass through him. However, in front of him, he could no longer see Voltar. He used his extraordinary senses and spotted Voltar's presence far behind him.

On the other hand, Voltar smiled widely. Earlier, he had hid behind the blood wave and predictably awaited Flitz's wind, using it to amplify his speed. Currently at his distance, he could see the hole which he had arrived. He could finally escape.

However, Flitz appeared beside him. His speed was astonishing that he seemed he had teleported. Voltar was suddenly grabbed at his neck.

Silent Grunts. Voltar grunted from the grip.

"Foolishness." Flitz spoke disdainfully.

Voltar effortly chuckled. "I'm dead anyway. Such disparity of power, I manage to elude you."

He laughed as he struggled to continue, "Have you also turned rigid in time? Devil!"

Flitz frowned at his words. He spoke coldly, "I'm not the devil but the person you lied since the beginning. The person you treated like dirt, Flitz Kuran."

Voltar was surprised but he appeared to refuse the notion.

"What Flitz Kuran? You just manage to occupy his memories and you are pretending to be him?" Voltar furiously said.

"Grunt" Voltar loudly grunt as the pressure of the grip strengthened.

"You killed my benefactor like he was nothing. You didn't even showed sympathy after he told you he had a daughter. Just because he pissed you, he was deserved to die?" Flitz blared.

"I-- " Voltar appeared guilty before he was surprised once more. He struggled more from the grip as he unbelievably said, "Are you really him? Are you really Flitz?"

Hearing his response, Flitz greatly frowned, "So what if I am truly Flitz?"

Voltar rejoiced. He exulted, "The 30th Night Lurker in the entire history of Ravarisk. I can't believe it's happening in my eyes."

"Grunt" Voltar grunted again.

"What are you happy about? Don't you believe I'll torn you apart right now?" Flitz stared fiercely.

Voltar laughed. He effortly said, "What if I suffer some pain? To revive the glory of Ravarisk, it's all worth it."

Flitz was troubled. He then spoke fiercely, "Then what if I won't revive the organization?"

He had taken a vow to serve the organization, Ravarisk, since he became an assassin. But it was worth to die than to serve an organization he extremely despised.

But Voltar had anticipated it. He brushed it as he laughed pathetically, "Then it's still okay. I've managed to achieve something that my ancestors were unable to. The 30th Night Lurker."

He became dazed. The reason that the organization had fallen steeply from its high pedestal was because of the devil, Rikimaru. The repeating failures had led the organization to forbid the ritual. However, Voltar succeeded. He had made his parents, ancestors, and the deeper line of his blood, proud.

Ravarisk was his vampiric family's abode. They were the true rulers. He killed the past leader, as that person killed his parents and forcefully throned himself when he was not a descendant of Xulem. No one protected his parents and the reason why he lost his faith towards comrades.

He began hated them since he was a child and the hate also grew upon his growth. No one cared for him and he had only himself to feed. He just showed astonishing talent and everyone finally acknowledged him. As a result, his derision became more apparent. It was just that Geython triggered it so he killed him.

"Bang"

Flitz threw Voltar to the broken floor. He hit at random things and further damaged his body. He puked out blood and his face turned more pale.

"Now you wanted to die after fulfilling your task. I can't even fulfill mine! You killed Geython...the one who saved me from the slums and raised me who I am now!" Flitz shouted furiously.

"Who says I already fulfilled mine? I haven't revived the organization. And more importantly, I haven't fulfilled the will you've passed to me!" Voltar retorted powerfully.

Flitz was shocked by the sudden revelation of Voltar's words.

"You wanted to fulfill my will?" Flitz asked.

"Yes, I am a despicable person that killed anyone he detested but I wanted to fulfill my promise to you. At least, before I die, I will protect Geython's daughter and repay my gratitude to you!" Voltar shouted which astounded Flitz greatly.

"So when I thought the organization was over, I felt my burden finally lifted off. It seems I've become mad only to become sane when I finally see the world in other perspective. So Flitz..." He softly said and bowed his head on the ground.

"I know you wouldn't believe me and I detached your connection to someone you cherished. I cannot be forgiven and I don't hope for it but I need to apologize for everything I've done. I-- I'm sorry." He continued.

Flitz could not respond and they remained in that position for a short time.

Flitz frowned and casted his gaze away from Voltar as he said, "My connection with Geython was never detached. He still remained in my memories. However, I haven't forgiven you and you need to atone your sins. For that, you must fulfill your promise to me and protect Geython's daughter. On the other hand, I'll continue to serve the organization."

Voltar was astounded as his core trembled. He uncontrollably shouted, "You'll serve the organization?"

"Yes, but don't think of any nonsense. I still hated you and the organization. I still want to live and repay my benefactor's grace to his daughter. The vow is a pain in the ass." Flitz said.

Voltar smiled as he felt warm inside. He thought, 'I can still accomplish our wish, mother, father.'

Suddenly, wind coursed around Voltar. But unlike previously, it was gentle. It carried the feeble him and both he and Flitz flew away from the hall, the island and into the oceans. Their destination was the faraway Kingdom of Lafanor.
