"Hey guys, have you heard. Another man was found dead in the forest, on the south. The report said it was done by a ferocious animal, but every person, even the police who gone there, never came back." spoke the 12-year-old Jerome.
"The report said that, so I will believe it. You just want to scare us again!" Nico accused.
"I have also watched the news, but the way you state it, it seems like it means something else, don't you agree, Roger?" asked Zest toward the serious-looking kid who had golden eyes, that had black inside his pupil.
Roger just peered at them, lazily, then bow his head, writing something on the paper.
"See I told you so! Roger also agreed!"
"Agree? Tsk. Zest, Roger obviously didn't care." Nico pouted.
"Hey, listen to me first." Jerome, trying to get their attention.
"Just tell, whatever you want to tell." Nico jest.
"Tsk. You guys are being boring. And I was planning to tell you who did it. It came from a living witness." Jerome whistled while peeking at them in the corner of his eyes.
Everyone's attention was now on him. making him smirked in his heart. This was the result he wanted from them.
"Really?" Nico
Roger, also looked at him.
Jerome showed a cheeky smile. "Heh, I don't wanna tell it anymore. You guys didn't even listen to me when I was speaking just now."
"Tsk, you are just lying," Nico said, peering at him as if Jerome was just a fraud.
"I am not lying. I am telling the truth!" Jerome glared at Nico.
"Then let us hear it." Zest
Jerome puffed in annoyance. "You won't even believe it, even I told you anyway."
"Will you tell or not?" Roger suddenly spoke.
"See, even Roger got curious." Zest.
"Alright, alright. I will tell you." Jerome getting ready to show off. "One day, my mom and I walked toward the supermarket, and I was left outside to watch over the groceries we bought because mom will go and gamble, so as a good child, I watched over the grocery and waited for my mom to go back, with a price." his eyes glint with mischief while thinking how he was able to take advantage and get some money from his mom. "Then during my time, I am guarding the things we bought I met an old man listening to the radio, about the dead being found in the said forest. And the old man went pale."
"Maybe because he is anemic!" Zest cut him off.
"Oh shut up Zest!" Jerome rebuked him. "I am still telling you guys the story so listen up!"
"Okay~" Zest and Nico spoke in chorus.
"Ehem." coughed off Jerome, getting ready for another round of telling the story. "so the old man turned pale and then shout. 'That it was not a ferocious animal. It was a monster! a scary monster!'"
Zest scoffed at Jerome. "You are lying. I don't believe he shouted. You were just exaggerating it!"
Jerome faced turned red, then cough awkwardly. "He, he did. He said it was a monster child!"
"Oh, I had heard about that too." a beautiful blonde girl spoke up.
"Hananiah," Jerome called out in awe.
"I have talked with that old man. You know that I always wanted to become a reporter, so I asked that old man." walked toward them, she had blond hair and yellow eyes, her eyes darted at Roger. "Hey, Roger, still studying. It must be hard being a scholar, huh." Hananiah smiled at Roger.
Roger just bored looked at her, then bow his head while scribing on his Physic workbook.
"Hey, the popular princess is speaking with you." Zest jabbed at Roger.
"Hmm," Roger replied.
Hananiah put her hair behind her ear, as her ears that now tinged with red. "Anyway, as I was saying. When I talk with the old man..." Hananiah continued, pulling away Zest who was beside Roger, which Zest stood up to offer to his seat. "Thank you." Hananiah winked at Zest. "So as I was saying. The old man told me what happened at that time. He was just inside his apartment that time and watching over the stars when his grandchild made his telescope go for the forest without him knowing, then the said grandchild look at the telescope and ask his grandpa that he saw a child fighting.
So the old man scolded the grandchild until the old man also checks it out. And what he sees give him goosebump.."
Those who are listening to Hananiah started to gulp their saliva in fear, as the smile on Hananiah's face play.
"... The grandpa saw a child covered in blood, appearing and disappearing. He was like an alien, that was what the grandpa said. As if he was certain of it, but his children just shrug it off. He was so scared every night, that he sometimes has a nightmare. I ask that grandpa if he saw the face, he said yes. It had bloody eyes and hair covered in gold, but other than that he didn't say anything else." Hananiah then glimpsed at the serious face of Roger.
"You are so brave Hananiah, you are able to ask the grandpa and didn't felt scared," Nico said in eyes full of admiration.
"Well, it was not that I am not scared, it was just I don't believe him. I do believe that grandpa was just hallucinating. Don't you agree Roger?" Hananiah trying to get Roger to comply.
Roger stared at Hananiah, making her eyes looked away.
"Well, I more believe in logic than that supernatural stuff. That was plain stupidity. Right, Roger?"
"You guys should just concentrate on your studies, we will be graduating, and the entrance exam for high school will be about to start. Why would you even think with that stupid stuff? Those things are just created by human imagination." Roger explained.
"Ba, even if you won't study Roger, there is a lot of schools willing to offer you a scholarship. Sometimes I am jealous of you." Zest said.
"I totally agree!" raised up the hand of Nico. "If I had at least half of your smartness, my parents would be so proud of me." He added dreamily.
Roger stood up and fixed his stuff.
"Where are you going, Roger?" inquired Nico.
"Class dismissed," Roger answered, and on cue the bell rang.
All his classmate's eyes were on him, with amazement in their eyes.
Roger walked out of the classroom, peering outside the window. "An alien huh..." he whispered in the air.
