Chapter 1 - St. Catherine's Collegiate Exam: The Beginning

"Therese!! you better get down here right now or you'll be late for your entrance exam."

Her mother's voice seems to be echoing from downstairs. Apparently, she once again overslept. No thanks to the numerous books and reviewers she had to review.

"On my way mom!" Therese shouted back from her room. She's feeling very giddy and nervous. Well, who wouldn't? She will be taking the college entrance exam today in St. Catherine's College of Engineering and Fine Arts. One of the most renowned schools of Fine Arts in the country. She had worked so hard just to make sure her GPA will be enough to gain a chance to enter the school. Now, she is on her last step in gaining admission. She has spent countless sleepless nights reviewing everything she can to make her dream come true.

"I am ready as can be and failure is not an option" she read this out loud to herself. She remembered she posted this sticker on her wall when she felt like giving up. The message kept her moving towards her goal and today she can confidently say it to herself.

The table was already set when she reached downstairs. "Hey mom, I better not eat much cause I feel like I'm going to throw-up." she said after taking a spoonful of rice.

"Nonsense! You need to eat a lot or you won't be able to concentrate on your exam later when your stomach starts hurting."

Few minutes passed she's ready to go. "Mom, I promise to pass this exam and enter St. Catherine's."

"Don't put so much pressure on yourself. Always remember, whatever happens today, I and your dad will always be supporting you."

With a smile, she kissed her mother good-bye and rode her bike going to St. Catherine's. "I'll do my best today. I'll make sure I'll pass." she told herself while pedalling vigorously towards the school.

After 20 minutes, she arrived at the gates of the school. Looking up at the gate's sign she sighed.

She's finally here! One step closer to her dreams. Feeling confident, she strode inside the gates. "I can do this. Months of reviewing and sleepless nights will surely pay off." she mutters to herself and went inside the testing area. Feeling both hopeful and confident.
