Chapter 3 - Victoria- An unwanted rescue

Victoria had been on her own for a long time now, she was used to it...even as a child although she had been surrounded by people she had always felt as if she was separate from everyone else. Her parents had kept her in a bubble, as a princess of the butterfly kingdom..shifters with wings which shed a dust with magical properties.... she had certain responsibilities...she had failed...

.the promised marriage to unite warring kingdoms had dissolved and she had been cast out, left alone since she was nineteen. This being the case she was overly sensitive when someone paid attention to her...and she knew someone was. The sense of being watched had been following her around for the past two weeks. she had actually found it had given her a feeling of safety, at least until today. That horrible chill that had the hairs standing up on the back of her neck seemed to be getting worse as the soft, and usually comforting, dark of night descended.

The walk home from the lab where she worked only took 10 minutes but she found herself checking each shadow for movement as she walked along, jumping at every noise. She could feel the urge to flee grip her with each step, her other half wanting to break free and escape an unknown danger. She shook her and laughed at herself as she startled when a cat darted out in front of her. "Get a grip Tory, after 5 years noones coming after you...the family has probably replaced you and forgotten about you by now anyway, besides the glamour hides your real identity anyway" Pep talk over she strode forward. Ignoring the heat that wavered over her back and spine as her inner beast attempt to break free.

Her mind occupied with suppressing these feelings she stepped into the road, directly into the path of the black suv hurtling towards her! A scream escaped her lips as her body was suddenly thrown to the ground. Her head smacked against the concrete the glamour she so relied on sliding away as her conce tration broke. Brown short hair becoming a long scarlet curtain to her waist. The last thing she saw was the shocked eyes of a familiar and hated deep sapphire before unconsciousness claimed her.
