The next morning when Ming Yue woke up, she had the worst hangover in her life. Her pulse was like a hammer to her head. She groaned slightly as she sat up in her bed and rubbed her head.
As she thought back to the night before, the last thing she could remember was when Jun Xi scared her, which immediately made her mood turn worse. She clenched her small delicate hand and vowed that she must punish him and get her revenge!
A few minutes later, she rolled off the bed and walked over to the dresser. On top of it was a ceramic basin of cool water which she used to wash her face, then she grabbed the small towel next to it and dried her face.
Feeling slightly better, she headed out of the pavilion and saw breakfast had been served under the small octagonal pavilion. As for Jun Xi, he was not here and was probably away on some sect business.
After finishing her breakfast, she tried to think up a plan on how to punish Jun Xi for what he did yesterday. Her first thought was to hide somewhere and then jump out and scare him, however she doubted she could truly hide her presence from him, and even if she could, what if she truly scared him and he instinctively defended himself and accidentally killed her? No, no, no! Stupid idea! The next idea was to find a spider or bug and hide it in his bed, however that thought caused her whole body to shiver. She really didn't like bugs!
She groaned as she ruffled her hair in frustration. Why couldn't she think of anything?
With a start, she suddenly jumped up from her seat excitedly with a michevious smile blooming on her face. I've got it!
She ran into the bath house and soon came back carrying a bucket of water. Then she headed toward Jun Xi's bedroom.
Ming Yue took a few steps back and clapped her hands as she looked up at her masterpiece with a proud expression.
Jun Xi's bedroom door was slightly ajar and on top of it balanced a bucket of water.
"Muhahaha!" An evil laugh creeped up her throat as she imagined his look as he unknowingly opened the door and was splashed with water.
Extremely satisfied with her work, she turned to the window and opened it and jumped out.
Having finished setting up her trap, she decided to go and cultivate in the backyard. However, after several attempts she just couldn't get into the right mood. She was too excited and kept listening for whether Jun Xi had come back yet. She didn't want to miss it when he walked into her trap!
Frowning, she instead pulled out her Crescent Moon Sword and began practicing the Nine Crescent Moon Sword Arts.
She could perform the first sword art rather well and the second sword art at an acceptable level, however for the rest it was completely useless as her cultivation level was still to low.
She danced and flew around in the backyard, incorporating the Light as feather, Fleeting as a cloud moves into her sword arts. She looked like a butterfly as she flew around and skipped from ground to tree, and tree to tree.
After a few hours of practice, she landed on the ground. Her adorable face had a healthy flush from the exercise. She was rather amazed by her light-blue sect robes as they were still dry and didn't stick to her sweaty body. The material they were made of was truly magical.
Having gently wiped her face from perspiration, she decided to go and have a bath and then she would have lunch.
Coming out of the bath house after her bath she was slightly startled when she saw an elderly man in black robes by the small octagonal pavilion. He was placing out dishes on the table.
"W-who are you?" Ming Yue asked as she slowly approached him.
The elderly man straightened his back and turned around, placed one arm around his back as he bowed slightly toward her. It was extremely similar to how a butler would pose.
"Young Miss, this lowly one is this pavillion's guardian spirit. I handle all the cleaning, maintenance, and the food of this place. You can call me Steward Gu."
Ming Yue was shocked.
"You're the butler of this place? How come I've never seen you before?"
Butler? Steward Gu had never heard this term before and didn't know what it meant. "Master Jun, likes solitude and doesn't want to be disturbed so I tend to stay in incorporeal form."
"What? Isn't that bullying?" Ming Yue said and frowned. How could Jun Xi not let the housekeeper stay around? She imagined it must be really lonely and boring.
"It's really no trouble. Actually, my true form is this pavilion and I can see and hear everything going on inside it."
Ming Yue was suddenly dumbfounded when she heard that. Then she started to recall all the silly things she had done and everytime she had undressed to take a bath. He had seen all of it? She blushed from embarrassment.
Seeing her troubled and embarrassed expression, Steward Gu said, "There's no need to feel embarrassed. I am just a guardian spirit formed by the inscriptions in the pavillion's core and have no human thoughts, emotions, or desires. All I can do and will do is written down in said inscriptions."
Huh? So he's just like a computer program? She had learned a little basic information about inscriptions in her classes and knew it could be used to create amazing effects for weapons and armor when the user ran their spiritual energy through them. In a sense, they could be thought of as a tool's meridians. But she never knew they could be this advanced.
A desire to learn inscriptions was birthed in Ming Yue's mind as she looked at the "butler". Then she recalled the beautiful inscriptions on Yao Yao's silver bracers and on her Crescent Moon Sword and some doubt formed in her mind. Could she create something so beautiful? While her handwriting wasn't too bad, it was nowhere near artistic or particularly beautiful. But she wanted to at least try!
