Qin Shimei was four months and fifteen days pregnant. This day, she was on her way to her OBGYN to find out the gender of her baby. While walking across the street of the safe pedestrian zone, a truck speed toward Qin Shimei.
Qin Shimei wasn't paying attention because she was too excited; all her attention was on a small bump. She gently smiled while rubbing her stomach slowly. It didn't occur to her that by the time she looked up, she got run over by a truck. All that Qin Shimei remembered was severe abdominal pain, tinnitus, and massive blood coming from the crack of her head and running down between her legs. Across from the street, two blurry figures stood by each other. Through her hazy vision, she painfully framed her neck and thought of them to look somewhat familiar.
Qin Shimei exclaimed in her head, What? Why is Jian gege with Bai jiejie? Why are they holding hands? Jian gege was supposed to be out of town and won't be back for two years!
Qin Bai was on the phone, and the person who spoke was a male with an eerie and raspy voice, "Was the result satisfying?"
Qin Bai let out an evil smirk, "Very. The money has been transferred."
Qin Bai hung up the phone and looked up at Xing Jian as she sighed in relief, "Thank god she is dead. Including that bastard child in her stomach."
Xing Jian let out a sneer while looking at Qin Shimei lying still in her own pool of blood. "Disgusting."
Xing Jian and Qin Bai turned around and left, not noticing the burning gaze that was dimming away in the woman's eyes.
Sirens and pedestrians surrounded Qin Shimei's lifeless body. Rain started to pour down, and thunder roared as if the Heavenly Godfather is angry and full of sorrow.
In the past, Qin Shimei did not know who her biological parents were and where she came from. All she remembered was her age, her birthday, and the name she last heard before she woke up from the hospital bed.
During that time, she was told by the doctor that a couple had found her lying on the street in the rain. She met her savior and was eventually adopted by them.
Qin Shimei was six years old when she got adopted. She later found out her adoptive parents were a wealthy family who is well-known in C City, the most significant capital of Sin City Country. Her foster father, Qin Fan Huang, married Cheng An who gave birth to her older sister, Qin Bai. Qin Bai is loved and spoiled by her parents and has quite the amount of male admirers trying to ask her hand in marriage.
The reason why Qin Shimei was adopted was because she was raised to be a living organ donor for her older sister. Qin Bai was born with a weak immune system and would easily get sick. Her sister was four days older than Qin Shimei. Their blood type is the same which is type O; therefore, Qin Shimei is a perfect candidate for Qin Bai. When her older sister was eight, she had a right pulmonary failure, and at the age of twelve, her left kidney began to have a problem. With Qin Shimei's help, the lung and kidney transplant became a success.
Later, Qin Bai's immune system grew strong and healthy while Qin Shimei's immune system became weak. Ever since then, Qin Shimei would be cautious with her health and would try to avoid strenuous activity. As long as Qin Shimei is still alive, she is thankful for her adoptive parents for adopting her. Although they neglected and treated her as a tool, they gave her a roof over her head and food to fill her stomach. She would have died on the street if it weren't for them.
Before the hit-and-run accident.
In C-City, there are the three wealthiest family group-the third largest group are the Qin family who owns the Shang Corporation and the owners are the parents of Qin Bai and Qin Shimei. While the Xing family is the second wealthiest, and above them is the mysterious Wang family. Qin Shimei's fiancé, Xing Jian, is the CEO of a big company call Tianlong in C-City and the son of the second wealthiest, which were the Xing family.
It had been four years when Xing Jian went traveling around the world for a business trip. He barely had the time to call or text Qin Shimei, but when they do, he made excuses to end the conversation. Xing Jian had never treated her coldly before, but after not seeing each other for years, he started acting distant towards Qin Shimei. However, Qin Shimei kept thinking the man was too busy working and didn't have time to talk. She still thought of the small, romantic moments when they were together. Just thinking about it makes her heart feel warm and fuzzy.
Before all of this occurred, Qin Shimei was heading towards Doctor Chang's office with a warm smile, while holding a red folder with a patient's outside records and paperwork that needed to be signed.
*Knock Knock*
"Come in," called out Doctor Chang. He looked over at the images of an MRI of the brain from his desktop.
In front of Qin Shimei was a handsome man in his early thirties with chestnut hair, thin pink lips, and brown eyes. His eyebrows were straight and thick with an exotic shape. He wore a pair of glasses that made him look smart and cold at the same time. He wore a stethoscope hooked around his neck and wore a black dress shirt under his lab coat.
Qin Shimei lay the red folder down on the desk beside Doctor Chang's keyboard, "Doctor Chang, here are the records you requested and some paper you need to sign. Do you need me to do anything else before I leave?"
Doctor Chang stopped what he was doing and look at Qin Shimei, "Yes, I need you to call in a prescription for a patient. I sent you a message about it."
Qin Shimei gives Doctor Chang a nod, "Okay I will do that before I leave. You have a great weekend Doctor Chang and don't stay up too late."
Doctor Chang respond back with an "em," before Qin Shimei left his office.
Then a glint of light flashes in his eyes as he stare at Qin Shimei's retreating back. An unknown evil smirk appeared. Doctor Chang pushes the bridge of his glasses as the evil smirk vanishes. And if someone was to look back, they would think it was just their imagination.
