Chapter 45 - Rush Back

Just as Li Rong was about to call his subordinates to get Zixi out of the unfavourable situation they had left him in, Yueyue regained her conscious and sat up.

Immediately afterwards she pulled the hand - brake of the van and the car stopped.

"What are you doing?" he questioned her.

Instead of answering him, Yueyue got out of the car and came towards his side from outside.

She opened his side of the door and said, "Get off the driver's seat."

Listening to her words he had a bad premonition in his heart.

He still tried talking to her without losing his temper, "Why? What are you planning?"

"I said get out of the driver's seat. Don't you understand my words?" Su Li spoke harshly.

"First you tell me why? Princess, keeping everything else aside for the moment, those people might just be following us, so don't be reckless right now. Get back in the car."

"I want to go back, so it doesn't matter whether they are on our tails or not," she replied.

As soon as he heard her words, Li Rong's anger and frustration went off the roof.

He clenched his jaw so that he wouldn't lash out with words at Yueyue.

Even at this point in time, when she should have been worried about herself, she was still worrying about the other person and wanted to go back to the warehouse.

It didn't take much brainpower to deduce her reasons but he still had a faint hope that she would listen to him and change her mind.

He himself went out of the car and held her wrists, "Are you crazy?"

"You are the crazy one. We left Zixi behind. He is in danger because of me."

It was as if Yueyue simply didn't want to listen to reason and was being adamant.

"He was groomed as your close - aide from a very young age so, he always knew the risks. He knew that this job of his was akin to entering a lion's den. He must have been certainly prepared to face off the risks that came along with the perks of this job."

When Yueyue still didn't seem to be moved by his words, he cajoled, "We should return back first. Only after you are safe, can you help him to the best of your ability. Moreover, your safety is my first priority right now. I'll ask my subordinates to get him out of there."

"Were other people responsible for leaving him behind? No, it was you and me." Yueyue blew up at him with angry words.

He tried to pacify her and take her back to ensure her safety. "I promise I won't let him be in a fatal condition. Just trust me on this and go back with me."

Yueyue pulled her hands out of Li Rong's grasp, "Brother Li, I won't force you if you don't want to go back with me. Also, your head of the house was the one involved in all of this. You just go back to your main residence and talk it out with him. Don't meddle in my affairs. It will implicate you and I don't want that so, just let me go back."

When Li Rong didn't reply to any of her words and stood stock still, Yueyue took to pleading him in a wheedling voice, "I have to go back."

Finished with her heartfelt words, she tried to push him aside and enter the van.

Li Rong constricted her movements by holding her in his arms. "Let go of me this instance."

She tried to get out of his arms but it seemed futile.

"Li Rong, What do you think you are doing?" She whirled towards him with eyes blazing in anger and words full the of the blame on her tongue.

"You stay here, princess. I'll go back. Okay. Just calm down. With the current situation, I won't allow you to go back. I'll go by myself and save him. Alright?"

"No way, I have to go back no matter what. Whether you accompany me or not, I'll go back."

Her words left him extremely distressed and dispirited.

He hadn't thought even once that she would disregard her own life, to go and save Zixi.

"You care that much about him? Because of him, you are ready to discard concerns about your own safety? Is it worth it? Is he really worth it?"

Su Li was agitated by Li Rong's unceasing questions.

His word reminded her even more acutely that according to the information provided to her by the system and Zixi's own verbal admission that Zixi was a person who gave up his life just because doubts had been cast upon his loyalty towards the Yu family.

Furthermore, she recalled all the times she had spent with him and how that person had taken care of all her matters whether big or small.

Such a person who was wholeheartedly devoted to the Yu's didn't deserve to be left behind.

Therefore, she looked Li Rong in the eyes and when she realised that he was questioning her decision seriously, she weighed her words properly and said in a hoarse voice, "It's worth it."

Suddenly her eyes glazed in tears and she repeated her words, "He is worth it to me."

Li Rong was stunned to see Yueyue in tears and was rendered speechless by the conviction behind her answer.

They hit him where it hurt the most.

If nothing else, he just wanted her to think about her own self for a moment but now after her words, he knew it was impossible.

He pulled out the keys from the ignition of the van. Su Li was angered and somewhat disappointed by his response to her innermost thoughts and words.

"What are you doing? Give me the keys. This is not the time to play games. I need to go back."

"No, you don't. I'll go and bring him back to you." His reply was stoic.

"Even if you go back on your own, it's dangerous. Brother Li, one more person means one more pair of helping hands."

He knew what she said was the truth and that she wouldn't allow him to leave on his own anyway, so he reluctantly agreed to her words and asked her to get back in the car.

"It's best if you hurry and get back in the van. If we are late due to your stubbornness, it might just be too late to save your Zixi. Then don't blame me afterwards and I won't carry that dirty water for you."

Listening to his words, Su Li rushed back into the van. "Brother Li, Thank you. I'll always remember this favour of yours."

"Well, I can't change your mind and you won't leave him in a lurch so it's unavoidable anyway. Neither can I turn my back on you." They rushed back the way they had come and prayed that it wouldn't be too late on their part.
