The next few days Su Li took days off from her college and just stayed at home. It wasn't as if she had gotten a scare from the incident but if she looked to be too nonchalant, it would make Yu Jian think that she was suppressing her emotions or some such rot which in turn would lead him to keep an even closer eye on her which she didn't want.
She wanted to be left alone to her own devices. Therefore, Su Li asked for a week-long leave from the college and stayed at home. She didn't even venture out of her room much except for the regular morning exercise to give the illusion that she was trying to work through things on her own.
Nobody bothered her for the first two days but on the third day, Yu Jian called her into the study and made formal introductions between her and the guy she had seen briefly in Yu Yan's room the day after she had entered the household. He told her that though she had already said that she wanted to look for confidants and assistants outside, he still thought it prudent to atleast make sure that she could go to the guy if she had some trouble outside.
Listening to him she felt a bit perplexed. If it was that he wanted to introduce the future close - aides reared for the heir- apparent, he should have introduced the twins together. So why was it that only one half of the complete pair was brought forward?
Su Li had tried to gauge any abnormalities in Yu Jian's behaviour but it seemed to be a futile effort. In spite of her doubts, she went with the flow and didn't show that she even remembered their prior meeting since it wasn't important to her any which way.
She knew from the plot that those two had been extremely loyal to her but their ending hadn't been too good. They had fallen into the pit dug especially for them by Yu Yan and hadn't been able to prove their innocence.
Yu Jian hadn't been home at the time of the incident and so her younger sister had driven them out of the residence.
Su Li had a vague impression that during that scene though Xun Mei had been crying, Xun Zixi had just looked at Yu Yan quite ruthlessly for a moment and told her that she herself knew in her heart who was responsible for the incident but since she wanted to splash dirty water on the two of them he wouldn't retaliate due to his respect for the master and had left quietly after that.
When Yu Jian had returned back to the country and got to know the ins and outs of everything he had berated both the daughters harshly and hadn't minced his words at all. Afterwards, he had tried to find the twins but had only found Xun Mei.
Xun Mei had informed him that after leaving the residence Zixi had been too angry and had asked her to give him some space. After they had gone to stay at a nearby place, he had gone out for a walk telling her to wait for him to come back but he had never returned. Yu Jian had tried his hardest to find the guy but no clue about his whereabouts could be found.
It was at that time that he had called Yu Yue to the study and had given her a severe tongue - lashing. Yu Yue had felt bitter that her father showed more concern for a mere assistant than to his own child.
Yu Yue had said something along the lines that if he was so worried for Zixi he should have just adopted him as well. After all, their house was akin to an orphanage anyway. Though she had said that in anger and had immediately repented about it in her heart, she hadn't been remorseful in front of a father she believed didn't care for her.
As Yu Yue had looked at him while saying all the hurtful words, it was as if all the fight and anger had drained out of him. He had simply responded with the words that she would never find someone as loyal as Zixi to the Yu family and that if she couldn't even protect and trust the people closest to her, then she wasn't a suitable choice to helm the company.
It wasn't that Yu Yue hadn't trusted the pair, it was just she was too powerless to do anything. She had left the study in a huff. Outside the study, she had heard her father murmuring to himself that maybe he should have adopted Zixi as his child.
This had been the last straw that broke the camel's back and since then the both of them had been irreconcilable towards each other.
Su Li had a faint guess that maybe this person had ended his life after that regretful incident or maybe he had gotten into some trouble he couldn't get out of but after that, there had been no mention of him in the rest of the information she had received from the system. Maybe that was the reason Yu Jian had been so disappointed in his heir.
Su Li herself didn't want to be in any sort of communication with a person who had probably given up on his life because he had been wrongly accused and his loyalty questioned. All the more, she didn't want a repeat of the storyline so had decided to maintain her distance from such a person.
But it looked as if things weren't going to go according to her wishes. She could see a flicker of hope in the eyes of both males that she would reach for this olive branch extended towards her from their side. Since she didn't want to understand their thought process or waste time trying to decipher the various vague clues and snippets, she just let it go and introduced herself.
"Hello. I am Yu Yue." She introduced herself briefly with a vague look and smile towards him.
He gave her a complete bow of his head to show his deference. "Miss Yu, I am called Xun Zixi. Please if you have any order regarding anything I'll try my best to not let you down."
Su Li could see from his expression that he was wondering whether she had really forgotten about meeting him earlier or if that was her general attitude towards people she deemed unimportant. She didn't want to see any of those questions in his eyes.
They reminded her of her own past obliviousness towards the people around her in her own world. Therefore, Su Li turned her head back and told Yu Jian that she would now like to rest in her room and left the study without sparing the other guy an additional glance.
