Chapter 154 - An escape

"You! You can't Fairy!" I think that's the first time Hypocrite called me out by my nickname?

"T-There must be something else! Anything else!" Leopard's voice sounds hoarse, it looks like he's holding back his tears.

"And what do you get out of all of this anyways!?" Hypocrite noticed.

"Hmm...amusement?" He says like he's guessing the answer to a teacher's problem.

Amusement, huh...

I...think I'm tired. Really tired. Coming to this world, I got to experiment so many new things, but I also caused so much destruction. How many people have I inadvertently killed or hurt? Even if I stayed in this world, would I be able to make up for it? Is my soul worth all the lives the continuation of the war will scrap to the underworld? How can I say I'm worth more than two armies worth of people when I barely have the will to live in the first place? What right does a coward like me have to be selfish enough to turn away this offer?

As I increasingly resign myself to fate, the other two keep arguing. Hypocrite states," There must be something at least equally as powerful as Fairy's soul! How powerful can one's soul be in the first place!"

The bird man ruminates," Hmm~ it probably has something to do with the fact that's she's not of this universe, though I'm not quite sure of the specifics."

"W-what are you talking about?" Leopard spouts.

"Another universe...?" Hypocrites voice wanders at the end.

Ahh, there's that too. In the end, I still don't know why I was given a second chance a new world. I was probably perfectly content dying and laying to rest in my old world. So why...

"Well? Do you accept or not?" The magenta man speaks in a smooth and clear voice. His voice brings me out of my self-deprecation. I look into emotionless eyes that feel like everything is below him.

"I accept." I state firmly.

"WHAT!!!"

"There's no way we'll allow you to sacrifice yourself for us!!"

The man stretches out his palm, waiting.

Heh. They don't get it. They don't understand the situation I'm in. The guilt Ive been feeling this entire time over my decision to run away like a coward. I'm still...running away. But I don't know how else to end this. End my feelings of guilt.

I try to smile," It was nice getting to know all of you."

Ignoring their protests and attempts to block my way, I fly past them to place my small hand on the man's outstretched hand. Then, a flash of blinding light envelops everything.
