The man who dropped the box, Ben, kept expressionless while the angry buyer pointed his finger in his face, calling Ben vile things. Ben remained silent, clenching his teeth while taking the onslaught of cursing.
I've already been with the group for a while now and have an idea of most of their personalities and behaviors. Although Ben seems emotionless on the surface, he's actually a sweetheart with easily-fluctuated emotions. Actually, Ben is one of the men who trims the Kami fruit. With his large, rough hands, he delicately tends to the constantly growing shrub, not at all annoyed that he'll have to do the same thing the very next day.
So even though Ben seems unaffected by this man's abuse, if you look closely, you'll see his clenched fists that are slowly turning white. So if I noticed it, then Ben's fellow workers, who have known him for way longer than I have, immediately noticed it too. Seeing the situation, the other guys quickly put down what they were carrying and tried to control the situation. Some stood near Ben in a defensive manner or silently comforted him. Others tried to calm the angry aristocrat down or find Boss.
Oh yeah, have I mentioned, most of the places we stop are residences owned by aristocrat, meaning our customers are the wealthy. Boss have a pretty good status amount the merchants to be able to supply the rich and powerful.
Speaking of which, until now, I haven't had the faintest idea of what we're selling. All the merchandise has been loaded in crates and boxes of different sizes. I've been a little curious to what, exactly, we sell.
It seems I'm not the only one, because when everyone was focused on the exchange between Ben and the aristocrat, Sven snuck over to the cracked crate that Ben dropped to peek at its spilled contents. I moved my consciousness to a seed attached to his shirt and followed along.
I had many guesses to what could be in the crates...but not these.
