Chapter 35 - Hunt

Instead of leaving through the front entrance, Fenrir exited through one of the windows of the Inn and leaped up to a high wall. She had already memorized some of the scents coming from the bodies of the three men and had detected similar scents nearby. After moving around within the shadows for a few blocks, Fenrir found one of the strange 'carriages' she had seen used within the city. However, unlike a normal carriage, which had wheels and was pulled by animals, this one lacked both. Instead of wheels, it had eight rods sticking out of it and, instead of being pulled by animals, it was carried by somewhat muscular looking men.

Within the interior of the strange 'carriage', Fenrir saw a girly man sitting with his back straight, looking very bored and impatient. Next to the man, there was a pretty woman but, instead of wearing the robes of a Cultivator, she looked like a dressed up civilian. She was using a golden fan to cool the girly man while leaning against him with her breasts pressing into his side. Even so, the man appeared disinterested in her 'appeal', even though his hand still moved around her body in a disgusting manner.

Based on the red robe the girly man was wearing, and the strange pattern on the clothes of the servants, Fenrir knew they belonged to the Flame Jade Sect. She didn't know why they were looking for her but, after the men had obviously used a drug to try and either put her to sleep or poison her, Fenrir didn't care. Forming her hand into a claw, Fenrir began to gather ice elemental energy into her hand, condensing it into a pristine blue ball that, once it increased to a certain size, compressed before beginning the process anew. Each time the ball was compressed, its vibrancy would increase and, all around the spot she was hidden, ice began to spread across the surfaces.

Though her observation, Fenrir knew that the 'strange energy' she had detected ever since arriving in this world was called 'Qi'. It was different than elemental energy and it didn't seem like most people in this world were able to sense the other forms of energy in the air, making their growth severely limited by their cultivation techniques. Since Fenrir's techniques used magical power, by condensing elemental energy, most people in this world couldn't even sense it, unless they were decently strong. As this didn't apply to the girly man sitting in the 'carriage', nor any of his servants, Fenrir took all the time she wanted to condense her crystallized ice sphere.

Deciding her present was suitable for seeing off the unknown girly man, Fenrir used her instant movement technique, [Koku Shundo], to appear in the sky above the entourage. None of them had detected her presence at all, even when Fenrir threw the tiny sphere towards the carriage and jumped away. Moments later, a column of ice more than 50m tall, and 20m in diameter, had appeared where the girly man once existed. Fortunately, the roads in this city were very large so Fenrir hadn't had to worry about collateral damage...

(Fenrir's Commentary: 'Stupid girly man...hmph...')
