Chereads / Samurai Army in Another World / Chapter 4 - The Demon Army

Chapter 4 - The Demon Army

It took Johnson a while to adjust to the sudden appearance of a large army. He expected a small squadron to appear but that was far from what he had imagined. As far as the eye can see, 4500 samurai soldiers stood at attention in front of Johnson and his subordinates. As Johnson stared and observed each soldier and saw that they were not a lack luster rag tag group of soldiers but a well disciplined battle hardened group of men. Having lived in his past life he saw both the enemies side and his side as well, the lack of discipline and easily broken will of a soldier when faced with the harsh reality of war. The soldiers Johnson saw in front of him gave off a different vibe, as if their will was made of steel and they would walk through fire and flames to accomplish their task. Johnson had an army, he was assured that with this enormous force he could complete the goddess' task at least for now. He needed to find some information about this world to plan and complete the goddess' mission. He needed to talk to some locals and hopefully they could provide some information.

"Tomoe," Johnson said to Tomoe Gozen as he was pondering his next course of action.

"Yes master," Tomoe immediately went to Johnson then kneeled before him waiting for his command.

"Take some troops and scout the surrounding area, find some local settlement. Stay on standby after a settlement is found and send a messenger back and we will meet up with you." Johnson needed information, hopefully the residents of this world are not all hostile, if they are he will deal with it as it comes.

"It shall be done," Tomoe said as she went to the large army that Johnson had summoned and picked multiple 24 man squad composed of of Ashigaru archers, spearman and katana units as well as a squad of red horn katana samurai units. Once she gathered her men she set out on her mission.

.....

Tomoe POV

Riding on a horse Tomoe traveled along the road away from her master to find locals of this world and hopefully they were not hostile. The first task given by her master she was excited, she wanted to show her worth to Johnson as a capable soldier who is not weaker than the warrior men.

Aaaaaaa!!!

Clang! Ching! Clang!

Tomoe was suddenly awoken from her daydreaming when she heard the sound of massive fighting in the distance. Tomoe looked at her men and signaled them to pick up the pace and march towards the fighting. She notified a few men to head back in the opposite direction away from fighting towards master to give news of residence. As Tomoe and her men hurried to the conflict, they could hear the sounds of fighting getting clearer and the desperation of battle could be felt through the battle roar of the combatants.

The scenery changed as they got closer and what they saw was a village with their gates breached and inside the were composed of wooden houses and huts however many of them were aflame. Tomoe could see humanoid people laying in a pool of blood. She could see that some of them had long fluffy furry tales and had fox like ears. The other humanoid had dark grey skin with black eyes. The battle was leaning towards the dark skins as they steadily starting to overwhelm the fox people who were obviously outnumbered. The fox people had leather like armor and shorts sword but obviously their quality was no where in comparison to the dark skins who had black like gothic armor and their blades were made of dense compact black metal. The fox people fought desperately as they were surrounded but they gave their all as their loved ones' lives depended if they prevailed through this battle. She looked at her 93 units of soldiers and figured with their power level they should hold out against the army of dark skins. Tomoe figured if she saved these fox people they would be in debt to her and would give information about this world willingly without omission. Tomoe told her spearmen to charge first with the katana ashiguru men in tow with the red horn katana unit on their flank with archers as support. Happy to go straight into a large battle after being summoned not to long ago she was ecstatic. {NE}

"Forward Charge!!!"

...

My name is Arsha Somi, one of the oldest of 3 sister siblings of the Somi family. My father works in the pasted tilling the ground which was a peaceful life after retiring form the fox men Army back during the Great War 200 years ago. We fox beast man have a long life span, talking a tole on my father during the war that lasted 300 years father decided to retire. Living a peaceful life chopping down on the soil instead of chopping down on enemies on the battlefield he enjoyed it. Mother sometime help father out in the field but she was always drawn back into the house with conflict breaking out between the two of my younger sister who always fight over the smallest things. It's was a peaceful life, I always walk along the meadow near the village where it was lush with flowers. I tend to pick them and bring them home to put them on our dinner table in a vase with fresh water. It is soothing to me to eat with the smell of nature by the dinner table and the family don't seem to mind the smell. It has become a habit to walk over the the meadow in the afternoon with a basket to pick flowers.

As Arsha was humming while looking down picking beautiful flower she found that the flowers in front of her all turn to a darker shade she notice that something was blocking the sun so she looked up. She was met with a boy who was also a fox kin, his name was David Soivoyer (soi-voyer), a child good friend of her when they were little. He was wearing his battle garb as well as a leather studded light armor. Since they were little David always had a interest for being a hero who save people in need protecting them with his sword from evil. He would always carry his favorite wooden stick and pretend to be a knight fighting demons or evil humans. When he became of age he got to join the fox kin village patrol and over the year was promoted to squad captain. His head hair was wet and plastered to his matted head obviously just got back from patrol duty and training and came to see her. This was a regular routine for David to visit Arsha in the meadow as he knew her routine due to knowing each other for so long. David knee Arsha was aware of his feeling for her as he had confessed last spring to her. She told him that she needed to think about it. David knew she was hesitant to leave her family. David wanted to slowly make her fall in love with him. She was not going anywhere and if any guy dares to lay hands on her or try to court her, he will teach them some private harsh private combat lessons in the village forest.

David just kneel down right next to her and helped her picked flowers which she does not mind. David sneak glances at Arsha and felt memorized by her innocent and natural beauty. She wore her white one peace gown with a straw hat on her head with two holes for her fox ears. She had pure while skin and colorful white eyes. He would think if he first saw she was a snow angel but knowing her for so long it was her natural features. She was smart kind and loving to those she cared for. David knew she treated him like a brother but after he confessed she felt flustered and confused and started to see him in a new light. As David was picking a flower he found a snow dandal flower, it was common during the fall, but this one however gave a elegant beauty than any he had pick so far. He looked at Arsha then extended his hand and place the flower in her hair. She felt something in her hair and saw David hand pulling back. She proceeded to touch her head where her hair was disturbed. She felt a flower in her head and blushed and looked away with her face red.

"W-what are yo-"

"It's beautiful Arsha more so on you," David said with a gentle voice. Arsha then blush more profusely as her face gotten more red.

"David I-"

"Arsha slowly but surely you will fall in love with me wait for me for that day." David said as he smoothen our her hair around the flower he place on her head. Arsha just let him pet her as she savored his rough firm hands.

Dang! Dang! Dang!

David and Arsha were interrupted from there lovely moment by the village bells. Arsha and David looked off into the distance towards the direction of the village. Arsha then look at David from the side and saw the stern face he had.

"Arsha I need to go. You need to head home to. You know that when the village bell rings it urgent for us all and is important." David said as he got up and rushed towards the village. Arsha looked at David slowly vanishing in the distance. Arsha knew only one reason the bell was runged, it was that the village was going to be attacked. Arsha prayed for David safety then gathered her flower basket and hurried home.

"What's the situation?," David hurried to the village walls and asked the wall guard leader Victor. Victor had the same attire as David but had more battle scars visible on his body. Victor was the age of 130 which in human years was almost the mid-life of human years. Victor had seen many battles during the years and seen many fellow man died. With his leader ship role he got promoted after he retire from the war to wall leader. Victor saw David hurried over to him and heard his question and pointed off in the distance.

"The demon army has arrived at our village gates," Victor said with a stern yet solemn voice. David looked at where Victor was pointing and his face turned pale. Off in the distance there were soldier cladded in black armor studded with black spikes ({NR} just imagine gothic knight armor, look it up) and there were thousands upon thousands of these demon soldiers. David was wondering why the demon army was acting now after being silent for 200 after the Great War. Have they decide to start again to conquer the world again? As he was contemplating, a black cladded knight came out of the ranks of the demon army. The knight had a black dark horse with its eyes glowing red and its breath was a grey haze mist every time it snorted and nayed. The knight was cladded in full knight gothic armor form head to toe, his helmet had a distinct decor on the helm of a dragon wing and the knight held a long lance.

"I and Magnus Deus Knight Captain of the Demon Army, by the order of the Demon King, this land will be hereby taken under his control any resistance will he met with a blade. What say you?" The knight even though he wore a helmet his voice bellowed across the field and can be heard all over the village. The Fox Villagers were anxious and worried about the demon army request because under the Demon King Rule there would be only terror for those who submit. Most of the Village Fox people knew of the evil deed done to people under their rule, the women would be taken by force as presents for their lord, the men would be forced to either join their ranks or be experimented on for magic projects and children would sometime be given the same treatment as the adults. No one wanted to willing to be under the demon control but with a large army out numbering the village 5 to 1 they are given the hard choice.

"What should we do? Should we give in? They have a Army and better equipment then our Village Wall guards?! We should flee.!"

"Hide the women and children!"

"Why us? There are many other villages why this one?"

Many villagers cried in anguish and hysteria, panicking having a large army with sword and armor at their front door. They are all wondering should they let them in? Do they have a choice?

Victor looked at David with a stern face, knowing the last decision was in his hands as he was the Village Wall Leader.

"David, take the women and children and flee the village take some guards with you to secure their safety and head to the other near by village and tell them the new of the demon army. Hopefully they are smart enough to band together and resist the demon army to by time so we can get help from our allies in the Beast Alliance. I will stall the demon army with enough time for the women and children to flee." Victor look at David with deep resolution in his eyes, having experience the battlefield 200 years ago, Victor knew what's needed to be done, even if sacrifices need to made.

"It's shall be done," David said with a unwillingness. He looked at some other wall guard who were paint attention to their conversation. He gesture them to follow as he went to gather the villagers to flee.

.....

At a good distance from the Foxman Villages is the army leader of the Demon troops. Saldim Valtir, a reputable army leader of this group of troops, he was task as one of many army groups of the Demon Army to subdue and conquer the neighboring inhabitants near the Demon Kingdom. Wearing a Heavy full body Gothic Knight armor with Blueish blowing writing on the armor from enchantment, holding his helmet in his arms you can see his firm and angular face of his grey skin. If he had human skin people might think that he might be 30 years old but he actually is 237. Valtir has long white hair and the pony tail was braided to the side which was the fashion of nobility of their time. ({NR} the brave hairstyle like the elves from Lord of the Rings) and a clean shaved chin. His clean look might look charming but he had a vive of a cold, wise and experience soldier. It was a waste of his time to subdue weaklings such as the Fox People who were now weak compared to the Great War 200 years ago. However it was the Demon King Decree and no one wanted to face the consequences of disobeying. Saldim felt it was unbefitting of him to personally dialogue with weak people of lower status, so he sent a small group of soldier ahead with knight captain Magnus. Waiting in the back and observing the event from afar.

"What is taking so long? Why have the fox people not open the gates?" Just as he pounder to himself he see a lone demon soldier mounted on the horse coming his way.

"Sir Valtir, the fox people are stalling Magnus and his troops on their request to enter and Sire Magnus has ask permission to siege the village gate." The Demon massager hurriedly said to the Army Leader.

"What stupidity, Fox people should know they it it futile to resist with a large army at their gate out numbering them." Valtir said to himself, he look at the messenger, " tell him to breach the gates..." As the messenger left to deliver the message to Magnus, Valtir look up to the blue cloudy skies and let out a sigh. "Don't they know a rat will be beaten when in front of a lion?"

.....

"Sorry Sire Magnus, we are trying to open the gate as best as we can but seem the gears are broken and we are working on getting it repaired quickly," A wall soldier said to Sire Magnus, obviously stalling them for the women and children to flee. Victor was watching one of his subordinates play the demon with non-sense but knew the village always do regular inspection on the village gate every week, and today was no excuse and the gate were perfectly functioning. However for the sake of the women and children Victor was left to use the gates gears as a excuse to stall them. Victor was quickly arming those who were left in the village who can fight with armor, swords and spear in preparation knowing the demon army patients would soon run out. Just as he was thinking that he looked at the soldier who was task with stalling in the middle of speaking foolishness was shot with a arrow through the head. With the look of shock the soldier face, his body fell lifelessly off the village wall crashing down to the ground. Victor eyes grew stern as he watch the event and with a loud shout he yelled to those who are ready for battle.

"Defend the gate!!!"

"Arrrrrrrrhhhhhaaaa," Victor's soldier yelled back in response. Knowing for some of them this would be their last time together. As archers rushed up to the walls to defend the gates hails of arrow could be seen covering the sky's obviously shot by the demon army.

"Shields up!!! Take cover!!" Victor yelled, waking up his old vigor from the old days, as he commanded his soldiers as if they were on the bloody front line during the Great War 200 years ago. A small amount of his men got killed as they were new recruit and the rest were battle harden and had been on the wall the longest so they could respond faster to Victors orders.

...

David was leading the evacuation of the village and he could hear the battle cries from the village wall guards off in the distant. 'They have started,' he thought to himself.
