Nana and Zhen Qi left the scene, while Wei Na stayed until each front tooth was forcefully tugged out of Gu Wing's mouth. After seeing the blood and hearing the screams, Wei Na didn't budge one bit.
"Continue." she lazily commanded the guards to chip the rest of Gu Wing's teeth with the tools provided. After everything was done, the guards released her weak body and walked back to where they originally stood.
"This is just a small lesson for using our Huang family. If there is a next time, it'll be your tongue that gets trimmed. You hear me? Since you just had most of your teeth taken out, you can nod instead of spitting blood while answering." Gu Wing quickly nodded and sloppily laid on the floor from feeling the extreme pain in her mouth.
After Wei Na left, Gu Wing was escorted out by guards and thrown off to the back of the hospital. She spat out the mouthful of iron tasting blood and held the pieces of her chipped teeth in her hands. 'Wei Na... and Yang Ya Nuo! Just you wait! I'm going back to Bin Guan. I'll see how the two of you will beg for your lives to be spared!'
She was running low on sugar as she lost too much blood. She smelled some rotten fruits near the garbage bags and started searching for something sweet. She found leftover pieces of soft bread and a half filled bottled beverage. She closed her eyes as she swallowed these products little by little.
Meanwhile, at the parking lot, Bin Guan had been impatiently waiting for Wei Na to exit the hospital. When he saw her familiar confident face, he got out of the car and gripped her arms.
"How was it? Was she alright?" His heart was pounding like bunnies making new year's moon cake. She left out a forced smile, "Yep. She's fine."
"What's wrong? If she's fine, then why are you looking like this?" his brows furrowed.
"I have a question for you. How come it took you such a short amount of time to dig out Gu Wing's history? Don't tell me that it was your hardworking, time efficient staff. You've done research long ago and kept the report with you, right?" She looked him in the eye searching for an honest answer.
"You know me too well. I did do a detailed research on her background and looked into everyone around her. I love her, so I wanted to make sure she would be well prepared when facing her enemies." He replied, not concealing any bit of information from her.
Wei Na sighed as the heaviness in her heart tightened once again, "Last question, you've been hanging out with me lately. Is that because you really wanted to call me out or was it because you found out that I was Ya Nuo's friend? Therefore, you saw potential in me for protecting her."
When she asked this question, she felt tiny pains stabbing her chest. She patiently waited for the man to respond, but he stood there, frozen. She could sense that he was a bit tensed up and even without his words of confirmation, the answer was obvious.
She let out a bitter smile and interlocked her fingers together. While sucking on her lips for a little bit and lowering her head, she thought to herself, 'Wei Na, for this man, you've spent many years by his side. Don't give yourself further hope. At least give yourself a closure by letting him know your feelings. Just say your feelings.'
Finally, she lifted her chin with a confident smile and bright eyes, "You don't have to reply to that question anymore because I already know the answer to it. I won't make it hard for you, but if you have future requests for me to help Ya Nuo, please say it straightforwardly. I don't need you to purposely hang out with me to get information about her."
He was a bit taken aback by her warm expression. She rubbed her thumbs against one another as she continued, "Bin Guan, we've been friends for many years already. As friends, there is no need for you to act like an approaching stranger just to get information from me. From now on, I hope you can honestly tell me what you want to know, okay?"
He nodded, "Sorry, I just didn't know how to tell you in a way that it wouldn't make things awkward."
"But by avoiding the explanation, it became even more awkward. The last thing I want to tell you is that I've been in love with you for as long as I could recall. I can't even remember when these feelings started. But these feelings always followed my hearts beating. To be honest, I never thought that you would find the girl that you've been talking about since the first day we've met. To me, I felt like it was the light to the other side of a long tunnel, where one day, you'll realize that I've been by your side."
Her fingers loosened, and she sucked on her lower lip once again, "The moment you called me to the bar and told me that you found her, I thought how lucky that girl is to get all your attention. I can't deny that I was a little bit happy when you told me that the girl is married and has a caring husband. Because over here, still reacts to everything you say and do." Her right palm laid flat on her rapidly beating heart.
"When you told me that you were going to give up on that girl, I tried my best to console you. Whether it was going out drinking, eating, or just regular chatting; I enjoyed every bits of it because a part of me really hoped that it would work out. I really wanted to be the one who could take over even 1 percent of how much that girl meant to you."
Wei Na couldn't hold in the mist in her eyes, so she turned around and brushed the corner of her eyes, "Umm...During today's lunch, you finally remembered my favorite dish at the restaurant that I've repeated many times that I've wanted you to try. I was really happy. Even though this happiness was ruined by one call, and one thing led to what's going on now, I can't say it didn't hurt."
She took a few deep breaths and felt Bin Guan trying to move closer to her, "Stop. I want to say all this, but I'm sure if you comfort me now or say anything, this heart of mine will eagerly look for that ray of light at the knowingly dead-end tunnel. So, please just listen to me. For once."
The man took back his steps and silently waited for her to continue. Her palms were on either side of her hips as she looked up to the ceiling, trying to control her emotions. "I thought that this girl, who took your heart, would be an easy opponent because she already had her own family. I never thought that the recent frequent meet ups were just... just ways for you to find out about Ya Nuo's health. Until I received Nana's phone call, and you anxiously dragged me away from the table full of untouched dishes, that's when I understood everything."
"When you handed me that yellow envelope and told me to go help Ya Nuo, my mind awakened. I realized that no matter how hard I try to look for an exit in this tunnel, I'll never find that light I've been expecting to see. Because they'll always be the girl who won over your heart in the first place. Therefore, I've walked the wrong path, and I need to turn back before I reached the dead end. It's even more difficult for me because Ya Nuo is my best friend."
She wiped her tears and turned around with her warmest and sweetest smile, "Therefore, I want to tell you everything today. I, Shen Wei Na, loved you, Bin Guan, very much. A lot more than you thought I ever did and I know that you probably won't look at me the same way. So, this is my closure. From this moment onwards, I will probably not be as engaging as before such as attending socialite events because I honestly didn't like any of them. I was only there to see you."
"After this moment, I will control my feelings and heart. I'm giving you my greatest blessings in looking for the future lucky girl or still remain in the loving Ya Nuo relationship. Don't worry, though, Ya Nuo is my best friend, so naturally, I would visit her. If you ever want an update on her information, you can always ask me. I'll answer you back. No hard feelings, bro. This time, the bro will actually mean brother."
Her watery eyes, pink cheeks, and bitten rose colored lips that were curved to the most wonderful smile she's ever shown him contained all the feelings she had for him for all these years. She breathed a sigh in relief and patted his shoulders as she walked passed him and called her driver to come pick her up. Meanwhile, Bin Guan felt like a huge hole had been engraved through his heart, making him feel very empty.
He couldn't deny that even though his main objective was to find out more about Ya Nuo, he actually started to forget about her when he was with Wei Na. After all these years, he never felt as relaxed than he was when he spent time with her. He wanted to hold her from behind when he saw her sorrowful back facing him just now. He wanted to hug her close even though he couldn't explain why he's feeling such pain in his chest when she spoke with her choked words.
When he turned around, she was gone. He ran outside and saw her getting into her driver's car. His fists gripped tightly and legs wanted to move forward, but couldn't, "What am I doing? What would I even say to her if I stopped her from leaving? Do I love her back? If not, then it would hurt her more." He watched as her car shrunk from small to out of sight.
