Chereads / Becoming A Tree Isn't That Bad, Right? / Chapter 7 - Their First Meeting

Chapter 7 - Their First Meeting

"Moooooooo" A certain silly cow laid down with its stomach out, acting like a dog, waiting for it's owner to pet it dotingly.

Roots extended to rub it's pink tummy. A sound of satisfaction escaped it's mouth as it's feet reached out like a new-born babe.

Luke chuckled inside as his roots continued to play with the silly cow.

He was now able to control six of his roots after expending much effort for the past three days. His roots were stiff and robotic at first but after practicing and using them for a while, their movements had became much more fluid and natural than before. He can now use his roots fluently without that much trouble.

As for the silly cow currently messing around infront of him, It had also finnaly managed to somewhat improve. Fingers crossed.

After being able to use his roots functionally, He dug up a hole with his roots so that the nuisance of a cow can use it as it's personal toilet. It sometimes served it's purpose but most of the time it ended up being utterly ignored by the cow who Luke believed to be the reincarnation of the devil. It just does it's business all around the place without the single regard for common decency.

He had also given it a name, hoping that it would at least help it learn some Manners. Her name was Bessie as inspired by his eldest brother who kept a fat tarrantula, who only knew how to devour it's food then take a dump.

Within these past few days, he had also made some important discoveries. Decomposing carcasses seems to have a more ideal effect than feces.

Yesterday, a humongous severed head of a snake landed in front of him, scaring him shitless. It seemed to have been dropped by a preying bird or some kind of winged beast. As for how big the creature who was able of kill a snake that should be atleast 20 meters long, he didn't dare imagine it.

The severed head was able to provide an even more intense warmth but oddly enough, it was not uncomfortable. The feeling was scalding hot but he was not a bit bothered by it. In fact he actually craved for more. However he felt as if the severed head was looking at him making him uncomfortable. It's eyes were still open as it looked towards him creepily.

Luke couldn't stand it's gaze and dug a hole to bury it in. He was suprised again because the warmth circulating through his body actually doubled!

He felt ecstatic, but then he felt dumb and irked with himself. Why didn't he actually do this much sooner? Wasnt he just tainting his 'eyes' for no reason?

It took an hour before the intense warmth receded. And after attempting to moves his roots again, he was actually able to move three seperate pieces in one go!

Luke was satisfied with this discovery but he was instantly met with a problem. Where was he supposed to find carcasses?

He stared at the dumb cow that was still eating leaves like a caterpillar but he internally shook his head. He doesnt want to have diabetes!

Back to the present. Luke was trapped in his own thoughts as his roots was still rubbing at the cow.

Moments later, Bessie promptly quietened down as she positioned herself back to normal and stood up with it's four legs. Her eyes were directed upfront as her short horns actually shone with a gold light. Her horns eventually elongated as it's edge became needle like.

Luke was startled as he looked at Bessie

'She can actually do that? '

"MOOOOOOOOOOO!! "

Dust flew as Bessie's Hind leg scratched the ground. She seemed to be preparing to charge as she fixated her horns towards the bushes infront of them.

The shrub in front of them partEd and Bessie immediately charged.

Luke was dazed and suprised but he immediately regained his wits as he sent all six of his roots towards the Bessie, binding and rendering her immobile.

"Mooooo~" Bessie looked at him pitifully like a wife cheated on by her husband. Luke however paid her no heed as he stared at the person of front of them.

Beautiful as a fairy. This was what he thought as he first glanced at the girl, wielding a bloodied sword. The unknown beauty had clear blue eyes that matched her blue satin like hair. Her snow white face was devoid of any blemishes similar as to how her feautures were undescribed by imperfection. She was truly an unrivaled beauty.

He broke out from his daze as he saw her faint. He immediately unbinded the confused cow as he sent his roots to catch her.

His roots broke her fall, but he froze as he saw the large wound on her back. The frightening wound extended all the way from her shoulder blades to her waist. It leaked out blood, soaking her garment.

Luke gathered a pile of fallen leaves as he carefully laid the injured girl with her back facing the sky. He was thrown into a state of turmoil as his body Shook in trepidation.

What was he supposed to do now?ヽ(´□`.)ノ
