It was 8 o'clock on a Wednesday, and Kassie most definitely did not want to go to bed. "Kassie! Bedtime!" Her mom called. Kassie squeaked from her hiding place in the wardrobe. "Where is she?" Her mom muttered as she checked all the usual hiding places. Under the bed, under the table, behind the door, but she wasn't there.
"Joe?" "Do you know where your sister is?" "Wardrobe." He yelled back from the living room. "Ok, thanks." "Joe!" Kassie yelled indignantly, jumping out of the wardrobe and running down the stairs. "How could you!" She turned to her mom. "Mommy, I don't wanna go to bed. It's the summer holidays! I wanna stay up all night!" Her mom laughed. "Of course you do sweetie. But, you are only seven." She studied her daughter. Bright blue eyes, and long blond hair, she looked just like her mother did when she was her age. Anne walked into the hallway. "Come on Kassie, bed." Anne had emerald green eyes, and red hair. "Fine.." She pouted and followed her sister up the stairs.
When they returned, Joe put on a movie and they settled down to watch. At 10 o'clock, she sent the two of them to bed, quietly so as not to wake up Kassie. "Night Mom!" See you in the morning they whispered as the headed up the stairs. "Night." She called back.
Twenty minutes later, the whole house was silent, until a knock was heard at the door. The mother answered the door. "Hel-" and then nothing. The door hung open, as if welcoming the darkness into the brightly lit room. A figure with a wolf mask stepped out of the darkness and dropped an envelope in the doorway. He closed the door and disappeared into the shadows.
