Chapter 12 - Chapter 7

Edited by: Mystic

Ai continued to flee through the woods until he stumbled upon a little village. His heart was thudding quickly as his emotions were in shambles. He really couldn't fathom how he ended up stuck in the game. It wasn't that he really hated the idea, he honestly loved the game. Though he had only played with Wang for a day, he really couldn't understand why the guy had done something so drastic. It made no sense!

Moving through the village, Ai began to realize that the village was rather lively. They seemed startled that a little fox was moving around, whispering some things before hurrying off. He tilted his head. When he was leveling up over the last week, he'd found that the NPCs he came across were rather bland. Only going through set motions then repeating it. Stuck in a never ending loop. Now they seemed really alive. Real.

Sighing, Ai moved passed the village going back into the forest on the other side, trying to find someplace to hide so he could try to find some way to get out of the game. He really could fathom being stuck inside this game.

As he walked something caught his attention, A flash of words appeared above his vision. Looking up he saw some remains of the game! It was an announcement that a glitch had happened within the game and that they would be working on fixing it.

Hope filled Ai as he stared at the words before they faded. So maybe they were still in the game, just trapped in it? He wondered.

Wang, however, seemed to be annoyed at the announcement. He was sure he had told the game developers on duty to ignore any issues that popped up today. Damn it, don't they listen?! Letting his annoyance get pushed to the back of his mind, he continued to follow the little fox. Keeping his distance. He needed a new play. Clearly, Ai Yui wasn't going to allow him near him now...wait! They were more or less NPC's now. The game affected them differently now! Great!

Wang quickly disappeared from the area, heading off on his own personal quest as Ai found a little hole in the ground to hide in. It was just big enough for him to huddle into and curl up. Keeping himself tucked into the small space as he fell asleep, feeling lost and very distraught.

When Wang Returned to where Ai was, he found the little fox hiding in the little whole. He sighed, shaking his head before leaning down to pull him out of the whole, moving to hold him close to his chest.

Be it due to the overly stimulated emotions he felt, but Ai refused to wake up. He wanted to play this off as a dream, maybe when he opened his eyes again he'd be in bed. Yea... it was a nightmare, it had to be!

Wang used this chance to slip a little pill into the fox's mouth, letting it dissolve before he sat him down on the ground again, quickly fleeing to hide and watch to see if it would really work. It was just a guess. It wasn't like he had any real idea if anything would work how he thought it would. They were in a sense in a different situation that hasn't been tested before. They were truly lucky that the codes he did to trap them into the game hadn't just killed them, to be honest.

When Ai woke up, he slowly blinked his eyes as he looked ahead. His bind was blank and eyes confused as he tilted his head, seeming lost. "Um....I...was...what was I doing?" he stated in a soft voice. All the panic and distress was gone as if never there. His head held nothing of information for him to pull up.

After a while he stood up, shaking his body before moving out of the hole, looking around before sitting. "I am...what am I? Who am I? hmm..." he sat there, seeming really lost. The pill that Wang had given him was a quest item that was given to an NPC to make them forget their past, to only have the basic memories of how to read, write, walk, eat and all the normal things. They wouldn't remember much about themselves outside of how to function properly to live.

"Oh well....Food!" he said, shaking off the doubts. He no longer held any worries about anything other than feeling slightly hungry. He strutted away from the little hole, sniffing around to find something to eat. It was as if he had always been a fox, and had no worries in life other than surviving in the forest as the little creature he was.

Wang smiled satisfied before disappearing again. Time to make sure he was able to fully win over his little wife!
