Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Prologue

"Lilly and Lex if you are watching this then I have died and you're the last of the family.

Keep each other safe, the people of these events that you're about to see are either dead, in person or still among the people you know and meet in your day to day lives.

Sadly your mother was not around long enough to give you this message herself.

There is another war coming, one worst than any I have ever fought in

I'll be watching over you always

Sincerely, your father, Mike Schrodinger"

Chapter 1

The year was January 1, 1944 (1169 years before D3AD 1NS1D3). I was part of the 13th Recon Division, 13th RD for short. (It pretty much was D3AD 1NS1D3 at the time.) I was only a private, the lowest rank in the group. I'm glad they let me in but surprised under the circumstances of which they did. Three days ago, they were scouting out an enemy outpost. Sadly, it was not as easy as they thought. They suffered heavy losses. Eighteen of their 24 men died, and they did not take the outpost. For the next two days, they were recruiting. I signed up. I was one of eight picked.

In basic training, we were all given a code name, by the higher ranking officers, based on our skills. Out of the eight of us, seven got names the first day. John, the biggest out of us (I swear, he had to be at least 7 feet tall), got the code name Recoil because he could fire an M2 standing up. He made it look like he was shooting a pistol. Mac got the code name Bulls-Eye. I think the name stands for itself. Bill's code name was Darkness because he did most of his missions at night (I think he did not like the light). Bob's code name was The Lurker because you wouldn't know he was behind you until it was too late. Jim's code name was Jury-Rigged, mostly because he could build anything in 2 minutes or less just by using spare parts that he found lying around. Danny's code name was Blade, mainly because he preferred using knives and swords over guns (he says they are more accurate and deadlier than a gun, but I beg to differ). Rick's code name was IED (Improvised Explosive Device) because he could improvise explosives out of anything he could find. Last, but not least, there was me.
