A goblin stood in front of me with a large dagger on his side, and a piece of cloth hanging over his crotch. Their heads were rather large for their bodies with rows of teeth, with another set right behind the first. The only other form of clothes on them was leather straps covering their feet to make their footsteps lighter.
Hiding behind a rock with my bow peeped I stared at them, "Observe."
Goblins are a lesser race of Orcs, being smaller, faster and according to some due to their trickery smarter. Their teeth, and jaws were made to be able to rip apart anything and eat it as they are opportunistic hunters. This allows them to tear though bones, armor, and shells to get at every last scrap of meat.
The dangerous ones are the goblin shamans, and the goblin assassins. The former is easy to spot due to the staff and the chicken bone outfit, the latter hard to spot before you're dead.
Greatest Weaknesses: Decapitation
"Well no shit, unless I'm fighting a chicken monster it should die when I decapitate them." Frowning I pulled back an arrow as I watched the green skinned, pot bellied creatures. Their movements were slow and relaxed showing that they normally weren't disturbed in this area.
When one of them turned around towards the others with only one of his two eyes and a very big protruding stick coming from the socket they mostly just burst out laughing thinking that the other had injured itself. As soon as the goblin fell down dead though they all went on alert, grabbing their weapons.
An arrow slammed into the neck of another one pulling him quickly into the shadows, when they ran into the shadows they were met with a goblin corpse hanging like a pendulum. The two up front pulled up their shields to move back to back their eyes scanning the shadows.
Two goblins stayed back outside the shadows watching the six inside, their weapons drawn and eyes sharp as they made sure no one was sneaking up on the group like overseers. These two however didn't have anyone to watch their backs as an arrow slammed through one of their necks as the other ended up with tentacles wrapped around his neck both of them being dragged off silently.
I strung this one up as well, letting it struggle before it slowly died. We both kept moving along in the darkness letting the shadows grow denser around us so we were quieter, and harder to see. The last of the goblins were taken out in a similar fashion since none of them had any teamwork after the overseers were killed.
Putting away my bow, Morningstar started eating one of the goblins near me. William came out from the entrance staring at Morningstar for a moment before walking over to me.
"If I didn't know any better I would have sworn that you were trained to be an assassin." I shrugged as a response.
"Have you ever seen an assassin? I think most of my movements are just common sense. Stay in the shadows, always move, and always utilize your enemy's blindspots." I tasted a small amount of goblin blood on my frontera and frowned when it just tasted like copper. Morningstar was eating the goblin so vigorously that I was thinking it might taste good.
"Either way, we should continue on their tactics and intellect go up drastically when you go further down into the dungeon." William didn't agree with my viewpoint considering that saying something and doing something were far different.
Morningstar sadly moved away from the goblin as we went further down the marble hallways, though only William's footsteps could be heard. As William walked he heard faint sounds around him every once in a while, and sometimes heavy footprints running away. The only scenery that William saw in this cavelike structure Was moss growing at the sides of the trail and the occasional goblin strung up to the ceiling.
William pauses every once in a while staring up at the ceiling curious how I got the hooks into place before realizing I more than likely had creation or earth magic to assist in that. When he made it to the stairwell leading down into the dungeon I was sitting there having a meal of a deer like creature that stumbled upon our path.
It had only taken around ten minutes to clear the first floor but from what I was told that was rather average for these mobs that were roaming randomly. What really interested me were the little glowing pebbles that was inside of their heads.
Rolling the glowing purple crystal between each of my fingers, I frowned at the shine that was coming from it. "Shadow magic, these gems could probably be used to enhance certain properties of my magic should they travel through it. That means these are the main components of staves and wands."
"It isn't the main component, it's more one of the supportive ones. The main ingredients are a crystal called a Container Gem, these little things can contain a certain amount of magical power inside of them. Of course if you're looking to make a filter glove monster cores are amazing." William chuckled as he stretched his legs, he was just here to alleviate the need for potions so he felt as if was just on a nature hike right now.
"A spell filter takes raw mana and changes its attribute to that of the supplied gem or gems, this makes spells of that type more powerful." William took out a steaming mug of tea, before blowing on it.
"Then what's a wand used for?"
"For spells you don't have, let's say I want to cast a ice spell right? I have zero affinity with ice so there's no way except if I use a wand to convert my raw mana into ice mana." After sweetening his tea, he added a small drop of mint before brining it up to his nose and giving it a strong sniff.
"Your nose looks like a goblin's you know that?"
