Synopsis

Background

In the Star-Reverend continent, the strong rule over the weak. Talents are tested at a young age, and those who are determined as weak and untalented are often discarded due to the difficulty normal households have finding a reliable food source to survive.

Scarce outposts of civilization can be found on the continent, separated by thousands of kilometers of towering forests filled with powerful beasts.

The outposts are classified according to their manpower and population size.

The majority of the outposts are small and have no communications with other civilized forces. These low-level outposts only have populations numbering in the hundreds to the thousands.

The outposts that are well-off have population sizes well within the ten thousands. They are usually under the jurisdiction of an empire-level outpost and control a number of low-level outposts as well. This group of outposts covers both the medium level outposts and high-level outposts.

The outposts that have free connection through most of the populated regions of the continent are called kingdom-level outposts. These outposts have populations in the hundred-thousands and stand on par with the empire-level outposts set up by foreign powers.

The empire-level outposts are foreign forces from surrounding continents that have populations in the millions with a considerable amount of manpower. Their goal is to find as many resources as they can from the under-developed Star-Reverend Continent and bring it back to their own continents.

In this world, power is acquired by cultivating the elements within the body. This cultivation has only one method, absorbing the elements of the spiritual root's corresponding nature. The more one uses and develops their strength and powers, the stronger they become. The only other way to improve is by using special tools or plants imbued with elemental spirit to increase cultivation.

Besides being able to cultivate, the speed of cultivation is dependent on the quality and elemental type of spiritual roots in the body.

The more roots a cultivator has within their body, the greater their potential to grow. Although training would take longer due to cultivating multiple elements, their strength would multiply as well.

There are many elements in the world, and the most common elements are earth, water, fire, and air. The rare ones include ice, lightning, shadow, and light.

The supreme elements are energy, time, space, life, and death. These elements are said to come once in every ten million people. Usually, if the bearers of such elements are born in small outposts, they are not recognized for their rarity and can rise up to become the rulers of empires and kingdoms once they overcome all their obstacles. However, if they are born in empires, then they are taken up from a young age for their talents and turned into slaves for the benefit of the empire they are born into.

Like the humans, the beasts can also cultivate. They cultivate by devouring the weaker beasts and using their elemental essence and spiritual roots to promote their own growth. Once a beast has absorbed enough elemental energy, they experience as evolution, granting them intelligence and even greater strength. When a beast gains intelligence, it is categorized as a spiritual beast. All spiritual beasts have spirit stones within their bodies that they use to store their elemental energy. This makes them a target because spirit stones are the resources humans need to create tools and increase their strength.

However, it is very difficult to overcome a spirit beast, so these materials are very rare to come by if one does not have the required strength to take down a spiritual beast. This makes spirit stones a symbol of strength in the continent and all the surrounding continents.
