As per some of the explanations in the story already, this world is a sci-fi/cultivation of sort with magic elements.
Now trust me I know it's confusing, I have even confused myself at times, "Wtf? Then why write if you don't even understand the world your writing about?" My answer? "Meh."
I just enjoy writing and making the world as I go. "But isn't that hard?" Fuckin a it is! But it is what it is.
Back to the explanation!
As per the story it takes place years and years into the future our main protagonist Oz had died in his previous life and was suspended in darkness for all of those years, with the help of his furry little buddy they were able to inhabit the body of the subject 0Z (Zero-Zee). Given a cheat system along with this new life and world, he decided to do away with it, but not without an epic ability changing the game completely. True Augmentation, an ability that is able to alter the fabric of existence on a whim, but his abilities and powers will all be explained later! :)
When the worlds of reality and fantasy collided the Elves were the first contact with humanity. Against Supernatural Encounters Response Ordinace, ASERO was humanities responce to first contact. Several tens of years later after Humanity became more involved with the races of the other world, ASERO boomed, and even became its own city. In the city of Asero every race was welcomed! Elves, Dwarves, and the Demons also signed a peace treaty with the other races.
Having traded with all of the other races, Humanity felt that they had gotten back into the food chain and could compete with the other races in terms of military might. Receiving Essence crystals in turn for trading tech, but in the later years that was never the case...
At first everything was fine, the elves traded with the humans for a pass into the human world, where a small group of Elves had branched off and went into seclusion ontop a mountain with an ever raging storm. This group had learned of martial arts and cultivation, or atleast the theory of. Applying it to their magic and manacules, they achieved a power that was greater than that of magic.
Once this discovery was made known, the other races that could produce manacules followed suit. Humanity being the only race that was unable to produce manacules and use magic. In resentment Asero had begun experimentation, creating and genetically engineering the human body to match the other races.
Colluding with the Demons in secret for their knowledge of Alchemy, Humanity had acheived their goal. The first Homunculus was created, a being set apart from humanity in it's entirety. The Homunculus was able to produce manacules by itself without the need for an external power source, but with it's creation came an even greater power. Unrefined, chaotic and boundless.
Unfortunately this Homunculus broke free and destroyed the lab in the process, destroying years of research.
This had set ASERO back in their goals, furious and frustrated the Executives of ASERO had sent a hunting party for the Homunculus, but it was nowhere to be found. It was later found out that it had escaped to the world of the foreign races. All traces had vanished, leaving ASERO empty handed.
ASERO began their work again, this time it was an incomplete version of the first homunculus. The next several tests and experiments were all failures. They could only amplify the physical aspects of the human body, but there were some very noticable changes to these homunculi. They're skin looked as if they were molded from clay. Cracked and stone like these homunculi didn't last very long life wise without a power source. Unable to recreate the first Homunculus with the power it had, they began infusing Essence crystals into these homunculi, being able to acheive a somewhat similar goal compared to their original one.
Even with the essence stone these Homuculi were only able to live slightly longer than the average life span of a human. With this knowledge ASERO continued it's work, getting into gene splicing, they started with essence beasts. Creating the first species of beastmen, with this new discovery ASERO went crazy, beginning a whole new motion within ASERO.
Releasing a virus within the city of Asero, all of humanity within had been infected with the H-virus. Changing and transforming them all into Homunculi, but this was only the beginning steps to ASERO's plan. Throughout the city wide spread panic ensued, then the president of ASERO went live to the whole city. The newly born Homunculi and all of the other races heard his broadcast.
"Citizens of Asero city, Humanity has taken it's next steps into evolution! We are no longer Humans! We are Homunculi! With genetic engineering we are able to acheive a greater power!" With this annoucement everybody became confused, and the Homunculi could feel a restlessness that they couldn't explain.
Suddenly the next words that the president spoke, changed everything. "With only using genetic material from other species and races can we truly evolve!" The homunculi had become excited to their very core, roars could be heard throughout the city. All of the Homunculi had gone on a rampage, killing and tearing apart the other races.
With these sudden events the other races needed to take action. The Court of High Elves, The Three Kings of the Dwarves, dispersed their people among the other realms, leaving their realm, and the human world completely. The Demons had hidden themselves amongst the other realm, while still working with ASERO behind the scenes(Hasn't been explained yet in the story, I know.)
With the new evolution ASERO had transported the entire city over to the realm where the other races had appeared from. Dubbing the world they now lived in "Terra Morte" (Land of Death). After just a couple hundred of years the city of Asero had become the defining power in Terra Morte.
"Hey! Wasn't this all explained already?!" Why good sir, yes it was! I figured I would go into a more indepth explanation giving you guys a good understanding of the world and where it started, as well as possible ideas as to where I might take this Novel!
Lets explain the "Evolution" aspect in this Novel. Now I need you guys to understand here, it's like a half evolution. The Homunculi in this story is an almagamation of alchemy and genetic splicing. When combined with the genetic code of another race it is of course going to alter/mutate the entirety of the being, becoming corrupt correct? Thus creating Dark Elves, Orcs, and Demis (Demon genetic code). Now here is another part where some may get confused. Once a Homunculi is fused with DNA from another species it is no longer able to mate outside of that race, other than with a pure Homunculi. "But, bu- Then how what happens to the children out of copulation!?" Now that is a very good question. Notice how I said "Pure" Homunculi, the term that I am using here means solely Homunculus. Meaning it hasn't fused with DNA from another species.
As per the races and explanations of, those will be carried out later in the story!
Manacules- The purest energy that inhabits all life and the world!
Essence: The manacules that have taken form. The soul, Elements, etc
Essence crystals/stones- (Most definitely will end up writing both, accidentally if caught will correct) can either be completely empty or filled with essence, also used for homunculi that haven't fused with an essence beast!
Essence beasts- These creatures feed off the essence of their surroundings. (Basically elemental beasts of sorts.
Homunculi- These brings were originally human, thanks to ASERO, all of the humans that were in the city had been infected with the H-virus. Humonculi are able to genetically alter their bodies using genetic material from another being, but it will change their genomes completely and alter their appearance. Ex. Dark elves, orcs, and beast men. (Demons are still technically demons or in this case, Demis)
