She rose her hand and then dropped it.
Shots rang out.
People ran.
It was a mess.
Carter was catching bullets.
Madelyn and Kathy were blasting people.
Nathan was invisible.
Liam was practicing his "hug until you pass out" method of disabling people.
I was making the air explode around them.
Paige was beating the snot out of people.
It.
Was.
Chaos.
After they had turned and ran for the hills we turned to eachother.
"So much for staying lowkey." Nathan scoffed.
"Sorry guys. I dropped the ball," I responded.
"At least now they know not to mess with us," Kathy said in a hopeful and cheerful manner.
"Not necessarily," I added, "They might come back and fight back harder."
"We're stronger than them. It's no big deal, but currently we need to get our people and livestock off the boat and over here," Carter demanded.
I nodded, "He's right, we should get all our people and stuff off the boat and on shore before we engage into anymore battles."
"Agreed," Liam said, "I guess I'll go row back and forth twenty times."
"Better get rowing," Nathan laughed.
"And for that comment, you're coming with me," Liam said as he grabbed Nathan by his shirt collar and dragged him onto the rowboat.
"I'm going with you all too," Paige called out as she ran over and hopped on the boat.
I switched my focus to Carter, Madelyn, and Kathy, who were all standing there waiting for command.
"We should start building a camp," I explained.
"On the beach?" Carter confusedly asked as he looked up and down the beach.
"Nope," I answered and then pointed at a group of thirty or so trees up the shoreline, "Over in that little patch of trees."
"Aye aye captain," Kathy said as she playfully saluted and winked at me.
I shook my head and looked them in the eyes, "I am not the leader, the six of us are. There is not one ringmaster in our group, we all collectively make decisions. I am not higher than any of you. We are equals and our opinions have equal effects on decisions. I dont want to feel like the leader."
They nodded.
"Where do you guys think would be a smart place to put up camp?" I asked.
"Well the trees give us coverage and more places to hide," Carter answered.
"Not to mention it shields us from the wind coming off the ocean," Madelyn added.
"I think we should camp in the amusement park, it gives us both of those plus we wont have to build shelters," Kathy intelligently offered.
I looked at the three of them, "Opinions?"
"Amusement park," Carter answered.
"The park," Madelyn added.
"Okay well then its settled, the park it is," I smiled, "Let's go pick out a building or two to use."
They nodded and we walked over to the amusement park. It was old and run down: cobwebs covered a lot of things and all the colors were faded.
"This is freaky," Madelyn shivered. I examined the surroundings: a ferris wheel at the end of a side road to my right and a little carousel and rollercoaster to my left. It was indeed very freaky. Everything was covered in spider infested cobwebs including a creepy clown statue about twenty feet infront of us that sent shivers down my spine.
Clowns. Terrify. Me.
Carter let out a distressed scream that pierced the silent air and I immediately jumped at the sound. I turned around as quickly as possible to see what was the matter. Carter was violently swatting at his arm.
Spiders.
"What's wrong?" I worriedly exclaimed as I ran over to him. He didnt answer and kept swatting until a dead spider fell off his arm and onto the ground. I started to crack up laughing.
"What?" Carter asked, his voice showed that he was short of breath because of his little panic attack.
"The fastest person alive is afraid of a 3 inch long spider," I laughed. I leaned over and put my hands on my knees to catch my breath from my laughing.
"Shut up, you're afraid of clowns," Carter retorted as he picked up a nearby pebble and tossed it in my direction. He missed horribly.
"For good reason," I laughed, "Clowns kill people."
"Spiders can kill people too!" Carter jokingly yelled, "It could've been venomous!"
I caught my breath and picked up the smushed spider off the ground and chased Carter with it. "Spidey gonna get ya," I laughed. Carter was gone in a flash of light and back with the clown statue in his hands. I fell backwards at the sudden clown in my face and knocked my head off the pavement.
"Carla?" A distorted voice sounded in the darkness.
"Carla, hey its me," the voice continued, "Wake up."
"Wake up."
"Come on Carla," The voice wasn't as distorted and I could definitely tell it was Madelyn's voice. My vision was dark.
"I can't see," I freaked out as I started swinging my hands around. The back of my left hand made contact with something and a loud sound of a smack erupted into the air.
"Carla," Madelyn firmly said as I felt two hands grasp my wrists, "Your eyes are closed."
I opened my eyes and instantly threw my head in my hands, "I'm an idiot."
Carter was laughing at me.
"Hush it spidey boy," I laughed back.
"At least I didnt knock myself out," Carter playfully joked.
"Enough you two," Kathy demanded, "You've already knocked yourself out you dont need to be teasing eachother anymore. Someones going to get seriously hurt."
"At least there arent any dogs here," Madelyn said through the now tense air.
"I forgot you were afraid of dogs," I turned my head to look at her as we spoke.
The sound of little yelps erupted from under a nearby box.
"I am utterly convinced that we're in a movie," I laughed as I walked over to the box, "Watch this is going to be a empty box and then a clown is gonna jump out and scare us."
"Scare you," Carter corrected.
"Bleh," I playfully retorted as I stuck my tongue out at him. I turned my attention back to the box and slowly lifted it. A small tan puppy came barreling out and over to Carter where it proceeded to jump on him. It only reached Carter's thighs while up on it's hind legs.
"Awwwwww," Carter said as he bent over and picked up the puppy. Madelyn was a good fifteen feet away from him at this point. Kathy was copying Carter's awes towards the puppy.
"That puppy is absolutely adorable," I cooed as I walked over to Cartrr who was now holding the puppy in his arms.
"Shes a girl," Kathy randomly added.
"Well are we keeping her?" I asked.
"No," Madelyn yelled from about thirty feet away, "please tell me we're not keeping it."
"Come on Madelyn, she weighs like ten pounds, shes not going to hurt you!" Carter yelled back. He projected his voice so she could hear him from that far away.
Madelyn slowly inched over to us, still keeping her distance, but attempting to get a look at the puppy. The little puppy was licking Carter's face with her back turned to Madelyn.
"She's cute in her own little way," Madelyn cooed. I was surprised that she had called the very thing shes terrified of cute.
"Well at least we're getting somewhere with your fear," Kathy said to Madelyn.
"What should we name her?" I asked as I started to softly pet her fur. The fur was soft and pretty short, a few places were missing hair but that was probably due to scraping against stuff.
"Madelyn?" Carter asked as he moved his head to look at her, "I think you should name her."
"Mutt," Madelyn immediately said.
"No," Kathy argued, "An actual name."
Madelyn thought for a second before starting to pet the puppy, "Catalina."
"Catalina it is," Carter said.
I took a step back from the puppy and almost fell back.
Catalina.
Tan puppy. The name on the dog's collar. My vision. It was all falling together piece by piece.
I placed my fingers on my temples and started to apply pressure.
I didnt know they were real, I didnt consider them visions of the future. I can see the future.
Then it hit me.
Again, it was the floor.
The floor hit me.
And I was out.
