Chapter 135 - Clarity III

"Hmm, before I answer any of your questions, or agree to any obscure procedure, could you tell me what you saw, Morpheus?" Rin asked as this might help clear the fog that clouded his memories.

"Tsk, and why would I do that such a thing?" Morpheus asked as he gazed at Rin with suspicion and disdain, 'Just what game are you playing kid?'

"Why not? As it might just help me, remember how I could be a thief and a suspicious person when I barely remember how I even ended up here in the first place."

Rin stated as Morpheus just kissed his teeth and tried not to get pissed off by his aura which screamed hit me in bold letters.

"Morpheus, how much more assurance do you need when the royal guards have already been deployed?" Dime asked as Claire went to the window and glanced outside, only to see that the area was closed off to the public and the citizens were already evacuated.

Before returning to her seat and glancing at her master with a troubled smile since their surroundings now resembled a ghost town. Just so no one would be injured during Rin's capture which was a bit extreme, however, it is better to be safe than sorry when dealing with the unknown.

In a world, where mortals can become gods and vice versa; where anything is possible if you are willing to pay the corresponding price.

"More than you could ever imagine, Dime. But since you want to know so bad, Rin let us start from the very beginning... with the arrival of two snotty-nosed brats," Morpheus said with emphasis as he gazed directly at Charlie and Shadow.

A few minutes later…

After Morpheus reluctantly told Rin everything that occurred, it was finally time for our boy to either atone for his sin or somehow find a way to evade his inevitable capture. But that is only if he could not find a way to get rid of these bothersome charges.

Considering that while he could be seen as a suspicious individual for obvious reasons, that did not make him a thief even though he slightly was.

'Huh, so this is it? This is what he was so, hesitant to divulge… sigh, what a waste of my time. Luckily, it helped clear much of the mist that clouded my memories, even though there were still plenty of questions left unanswered. Which I sadly do not have any clue to answer yet, but something tells me I soon will.' Rin thought before sighing and gazing at Morpheus, who could be seen smiling like a fool who won the lottery as he could finally get what he wanted.

"Thanks, so since you were so kind to me, Morpheus, I guess I could agree to whatever test you have for me... but do be warned some secrets are better left unheard, lease you incur the wrath of something you can't fathom." He said mysterious with a faint smile.

"Stop being mysterious, kid, and place your goddamn hand on the orb," Morpheus shouted as he had enough of Rins antics just as a crystal orb appeared before him.

That was inscribed with rose-like patterns that encircled the orb, which to Rin seemed like a crown made of rose petals and thorns.

"Tsk, relax man it's just a joke, but seriously don't ask me anything too extreme or personal as I assure you don't want those problems," Rin replied honestly even though everyone else just rolled their eyes and silently said as if in unison.

'Welp, whatever happens afterward is their problem,' he thought as he placed his hand on the orb causing it to unleash a bluish light that drowned the entire room in a blue neon color.

Which disappeared just as fast as it appeared, however, what was once just a clear crystal orb now became a shining azure crystal. That pulsated with a gentle yet mesmerizing glow that swirled around Rin's hand like a pack of moths attracted to light.

But that was not all as during the moment, Rin was taken aback by the orb's reaction, two royal guards wearing rose gold armor and wielding halberds silently appeared behind him. While a third one kneeled beside Morpheus awaiting further instruction as the two arrays from earlier were activated simultaneously.

The same ones that were placed down earlier just Morpheus accused Rin; making it now near impossible for Rin or anyone else to leave the confines of their surroundings. And if by some unforeseen possibility, someone did escape from the sealing array they would not be able to get far.

As the area was cut off from the main plane which in this case referred to Dreamworld or Venville some call it.

"So, you're human, huh? The race blessed with the most gifted body for cultivation yet cursed by the High Heavens to suffer eternal damnation. But that is a matter of the past, so let us begin," Morpheus muttered with surprise before snapping his finger causing the guard that was kneeling to stand up and bow as he began informing Rin of what was about to occur.

"Rin Okumura on the account of theft and suspicious activity, do you hereby swear on your soul, body, mind, and cultivation. That you will say nothing but the truth, during the duration of this test?" The royal guard stated solemnly as he stared into Rin's eye with concealed pity.

'Brother, I know you may be an idiot at times, but surely even you know you can't agree to something like this?!' Noctis shouted as he began to fidget in his seat, which did not go unnoticed by Morpheus and Dime.

'Hmm, just what could have scared that old gremlin?' Dime and Morpheus thought as they briefly glanced at each other, however, before they could produce a plan in case everything went south.

Rin sighed and answered the guard, "Yes, now let's get this over with, so I can return home and enjoy my cold food in peace."

He said plainly, however, no one was in the mood to question how he could still worry about food in such a situation as everyone just gaped at the incredulity of Rin's response. For whom in their right mind would agree to such an outlandish thing, but you must remember what may seem like death to some is life to another.
