Chapter 108 - Field Trip - Part 2: Departure

Cafeteria - [8:58 a.m.]

"Yo! So, what is the move for today?" Rin asked as he wrapped his hands around Maze and Ethan after finding them waiting in line for some breakfast.

"Nothing really, but how are you feeling today?" Maze asked as she glanced at Rin as they slowly moved up in line.

"I'm feeling amazing actually, thanks for asking; so how about you guys?"

"I'm alright *yawn* I just wished the field trip was a tad bit later," replied Ethan.

"You can say that again but overall, I'm doing alright," replied Maze as she smiled.

"So, since we are going to be in line for a while... who do you all think Prof. Niko's "old friend" is?" Rin asked as did not know many famous cultivators who resided in Hawaii besides the Bandit Trio KJ, Brent, and Hero, and a few fossils from the last generation.

So just who was the hidden grandmaster that would train them for the next month or so?

"That's a good question considering KJ and Hero haven't yet reached True God, so maybe Brent but then again Niko did claim they would help us refine our energy usage and technique execution," Ethan said as he began recalling all the cultivators who rose to prominence in Hawaii currently and those in the past.

"How about Cane the Blind-Eyed Swordsman?" Maze blurted as that is the only person who came to mind who might fit the criteria.

"Hmm, that'd be a perfect candidate for the role, but isn't he currently a teacher at Cape Cod?" Rin asked a bit puzzled by Maze's response.

"Huh? But I thought he was the Vice Principal of Millennial?" Maze asked a bit shocked at the news.

"Damn, just where have you been, Maze?" Ethan muttered with a raised eyebrow before responding to her inquiry, "He once was, however, he got into a fight with one of the past instructors of the school over a shard of Ame-no-Habakiri, a famous sword that once killed a clone of Zeus. But that is beside the point so, one thing led to another and before long he resigned and became a teacher at Cape Cod. But not before he was suddenly ambushed and robbed of the shard during his travel to Victoria, Australia."

"Whoa, now that's just fucked up! But then again how did the instructor even find out Cane had the shard in the first place?" Rin asked, perplexed at Ethan's narration of the incident.

"Well, that part I'm unsure about however, it seems the shard once used to belong to the instructor's father before he passed away. So, who knows, maybe he just had a great memory... but what I do know is that this food is about to smack." Ethan exclaimed as he told the breakfast lady what he wanted, followed by Rin and Maze.

Who all coincidentally just wanted pancakes, eggs, turkey bacon, and some fruit along with some orange juice on the side to wash everything down before heading to class.

30 minutes later...

RING! RING! RING!

"And that's our queue to go as in a few minutes, we'll be on the beaches of Hawaii, drinking mimosas and getting lost in the waters of paradise. So, let's hurry before Prof. Niko leaves without us as I have a feeling, we might be a bit late." Ethan claimed as they threw their trays away and began making away towards class.

***

2 minutes earlier...

Zap! Whoosh.

"Well, isn't this a surprise?! So, who is ready to take a trip to Hawaii?" Niko stated with a smile as he suddenly appeared in the center of the classroom.

Surprised to see most of his class already here before the bell even rang, but that's to be expected since it was their first field trip. So, everyone was just excited and could not wait to leave the prison called school.

But whatever it was, it worked as we can now finally get the show started, so please fasten your seat belt everyone as this is bound to be a bumpy journey.

"Sigh, while I may want to leave this very moment as well, the teleportation array, the school owns takes a while to charge up. So, for now, just relax and make yourself at home."

Knock. Knock.

"Hey, Kyrie, could you please open the door, if you wouldn't mind?"

"Sure," Kyrie replied as he got up and opened the door for Rin and them, before returning to his seat, not giving Rin even a chance to say thank you.

"What's his problem?" Ethan asked as he glanced at Rin and then back at Kyrie.

"No idea, but I'm sure it's nothing."

"Are you sure about that, he seems to hold a grudge against you?" Maze commented as she side-eyed Kyrie.

"Beats me, but maybe he has a vendetta against people who look better than him."

"Okay... now that's just a stretch as you don't look better than me, pal." Ethan chuckled after looking at himself and then Rin before sitting down and waiting for Niko to give them the signal to go.

"Ethan, I look better than you even on your worse days, so there's no comparison. Just accept the fact that Judy liked me more than you."

"She didn't even...! Sigh, forget it, you know what I'm not going to argue with you as you're delusional."

"Whatever you say, Ethan, as in the end I'll always be better than you and that's enough for me."

"Rin as much as I agree with that statement there are just some things you aren't better than me at?"

"True, but I've never been one to back down from a challenge. So, what will be?"

"All you had to say was a word, so how about we use the crafting material for a Tier 6 Hell Star weapons for a bet? With the loser needing to forge a weapon of equivalent value."

"Bet," Rin replied with a chuckle as he shook Ethan's hand and sat down, sealing the deal with Maze now becoming the witness to another one of their countless friendly bets.

Snap. Pop.

And with just a snap they all just disappeared before reappearing in a remote location, located a good distance away from the school. Where a gigantic blue portal stood suspended above a circular platform filled with abstract symbols, that glowed in the sunlight and stabilized the teleportation device.

Providing the portal with the necessary energy needed for it to guarantee Niko and his students a safe trip to Hawaii so they would not get ripped apart by any space turbulence if something went wrong.

"Prof. Niko, I would recommend you enter immediately while it's still stabilized as with every minute spent idling, I cannot guarantee y'all's safety. So, by all means, please hurry up and enter." Jimmy, the Array Master of the school stated as he glanced at Niko and smiled lightly.

"Thanks for the heads up, Jimmy! So, you all heard the man, let us go," Niko said hurriedly as he let one group after another enter until it was finally his turn.

"No problem, Niko I'm just doing my job," Jimmy said as he motioned for Niko to enter as the portal began to destabilize a bit.

"Sigh, well until next I guess..." Niko muttered as he dashed into the portal and vanished causing the portal to collapse right afterward and the array beneath it to fracture in the process. As it seemed to it could not withstand such a procedure, but that is a problem for later.

Since this might just be the end of their journey or the start of something more miraculous. But only time can tell am I right…
