The last option in the main menu is the user settings.
Basically the page only has two options.
"Save"
"Load"
What the heck is this for.
He tapped on the "Save" button.
A notification window popped out again.
"Progress saved."
"Huh?"
Adam stared at the notification with a confused gaze. What does it mean "Saved"?
No other prompts showed up after that so he doesn't really see what's going on there.
However before he can ponder on it further, he heard a loud crash at the back of the house.
The house he's in is the same exact house he was living in in the real world.
It's pretty secure by modern standards. Ten feet concrete wall all around the property and a solid iron fence as their front gate. It's the main reason why the house is still intact even in a post-apocalyptic environment like this.
He remembered that when he first explored the house. He confirmed that the gate is still intact and there is no breach on the perimeter walls.
Thinking about it now. He vaguely remembered hearing crashes and bangs while he was hungry. However he was lying down and in a delirious state back then. He doesn't have any power or will to do anything about it.
With the help of his recovery potion. He's HP is full and he is mobile again. He is still at the third floor of the house. Knowing the sound did not originate from inside, he walked to the side facing the back of the house.
Looking over the window. He looked at the familiar backyard. This side is also facing the back of their neighbour's house.
Through the window on the third floor he can clearly see a body with a rope around its neck hanging from the ceiling.
The crazy part is that, the body is moving around while suspended in mid-air.
Probably the person after knowing that he was infected tried to kill himself but the virus still transformed his body into a zombie.
With the new skills, Adam seems to gain the courage he once lacked in his previous life.
Normally in situations like this, Adam will simply ignore it and find some excuse to do something else.
However, with the game like system in his head. With some sick and twisted mentality. He views this situation as a game.
Adam, inside the game world is a renowned player. He is among the top. His attitude in game is way different compared to his real self.
Now with all of his game like ability, his gamer's instinct kicked in.
With his curiosity piqued, he decided to investigate the outside world. What is really going on with these zombies.
He looked through the closet and found a leather jacket that his dad owned. He also changed into some jeans. He also found some steel toed boots that previously belonged to their gardener.
Unfortunately, he can't find anything more substantial weapon than the kitchen knife.
He tried to check the main Iron Gate but quickly found out that it would be impossible for him to open it. The gate is used for cars so it is automatic and required electricity to operate. Also, the mechanism that operates it is already rusted out so it's probably stuck now.
There's a smaller door for people right beside the gate. It's made of the same heavy iron as the main gate but this one is made for people.
He tried to pry it open but realized that it's rusted as well. After forcing the lever a few times he was able to loosen it and finally able to pry the metal door open.
He made sure that the area is clear before wandering cautiously through the street.
Further up the street he saw two zombies ambling by.
Being a pro gamer in his previous life he wants to test his skills and capabilities first.
He formulates a plan to lure one of the zombies to take it on one on one.
He crept slowly towards the nearest zombie. When he was around 20 meters from it he intentionally made rustling sound by scrapping his shoes on the gravel floor.
Making sure to create sound just enough to get the nearest zombies attention and not the other one further along the street.
After a few tries he finally was able to create enough noise to lure the zombie over.
He casted "Observe".
Target: Zombie
Type: Walker
Undead human infected by the T-Virus.
It can inflict wounds that can infect users and turn living beings into zombies.
Slow moving.
Sensitive to sound.
Adam can see the green bar on top of the zombie's head. He calculated the distance from the zombie then gripped the knife harder.
Once the target is near him the activated "Dash" to move back and create distance between him and the oncoming zombie.
He moved 20 meters back. He repeated the process of creating noise, using the "Dash" to create further distance.
Eventually they reached enough distance to make Adam confident that they're not going to get the other zombie's attention.
He stretched his hand out with palms open upwards. "Drone!".
Small electric current sparked above is palm. A small white ball materialized and emitted a low buzz. It hovered for a few seconds then circled around Adam.
After he created the drone, a small list of drone options showed up in his peripheral vision.
He studied it with curiosity, he noticed that there are other options here but focused on the self-destruct option. He put the other options aside for later.
He commanded the drone to head towards the zombie's head, then he detonated the drone when it reached its target.
"Awesome!"
He was gratified with the view of a headless zombie falling to the ground.
Due to his excitement Adam didn't notice that a faint light suddenly floated from the zombie's body and merged into his body.
He directed his attention to the second zombie. It's still standing there dumbly.
He tried to release another drone but a system notification appeared.
"Skill: Drone is still in cool down. Skill will be ready in 3 more minutes."
Adam forgot about the Cooldown in casting skills. With a 5 minute Cooldown with the Drone he needs to make sure that he prepare first before confronting an enemy. Since the drones can stay with his permanently once summoned he can simply have them patrol or roam while not it use.
Currently he can summon up to 3 drones. In critical situations he can't always rely on the drones.
For now, he decided to always keep one drone with him at all times. He can use the other 2 drones for attack.
Once the Cooldown for the skill reset, he summoned another drone. However he didn't attack right away, he waiting for another five minutes and summon a second drone then waited again for the third.
Once he has all the drones ready, he walked slowly towards the 2nd zombie. During this time he played with the drones capabilities. He noted that his drones can go as far as 150 meters and it can fly up to 100 meters high. Its speed is pretty fast too.
When he is close enough to the remaining zombie, he willed one of the drones to attack.
He watched in fascination as the drone dived from 10 meters up towards the zombie then exploded when it made contact to its head.
Having the ability to insta-kill a zombie improves his chances of survival in this world.
Suddenly a new notification showed up.
"Congratulations! Player level up!"
