Chapter 15 - Body Training

*Chop!* *Chop!* *Chop!*

Bourne swung his worn out ax on a large tree with a diameter of around 4 meters. There were a lot of large trees around Ur's house since she was living on the snowy mountain. The size of the tree was quite normal and there was an even bigger one nearby. He didn't stop swinging his ax and he had been doing it for few hours. There was a blister on his hand and there was even blood on the axe's handle.

Ur was looking at him sitting on the chair. The sound of the tree which was chopped was quite interesting and she didn't stop him from training his body by chopping a large tree. He had proposed this training method to Ur since the way she trained his body was very monotonous. Running, running, running, and running; he had enough of running and decided to chop down a tree. If he trained his body this way, it wasn't only training his entire body, but he also would be able to learn axemanship.

Unlike swordmanship with its complicated and various techniques, axemanship was pretty simple. Chop, chop, chop; as long as he chopped down the opponent then he was the winner of the battle. Though, he usually used mace so he wouldn't hurt the opponent that much, but it was pretty similar after all.

Chopping down the tree for the past few days, Bourne had learned how to further unleash the power of his chop. Before he was quite a newbie and he couldn't even see the progress of his wood chopping, but after few days, he saw a result which made him happy.

In his opinion, body training was quite important, but it was pretty troublesome since it made him tired and it made him stink of sweat. Sometimes, there was also a wound on his body since he didn't use his "Water" magic to nullify the damage of his training.

Magic training was pretty simple and he could learn it at home, but body training was very troublesome. If possible, he didn't want to do it, but he knew that Ur had been staring at him. Previously, his body training was very monotonous which he had explained before, but then he started to think how to make his body training become more interesting. While running, he was wondering what made him happy.

Money.

It was the thing which made him happy. He thought of a way to train his body while also receiving money. After thinking for a while, he found a way to do happy body training. His body training consisted of three methods: run, ax, and fight.

Running was pretty much simple, but it was necessary for stamina. Running on the snowy mountain was very hard since sometimes the snow was so deep that it was very difficult to run. Even though he didn't want to run, he was forced to run by Ur since it was the basis of the body training. Though he also understood the benefit of running was very good during a fight. It could make him able to fight longer since his stamina had increased and he could use it to run away when he was trapped or the opponent was too strong since his running speed increased.

Running away.

It was the key of this training, it might seem shameful but pride was useless when you lost your life. It was better to run away and after that keep training until he/she could defeat the opponent.

Bourne and Ur agreed on that point since life was very important. Pride? Can you eat that?

After running then it would be axe training, it was something he proposed to Ur before and she agreed to this proposal. It didn't need to be an axe and it could be any sword which could be used to chop a tree, but axe was the most suitable for the task.

A sword was too fragile, a dagger was too small, a spear was very hard to be used to chop a tree, a mace couldn't even be used to chop a tree, a bow was useless, a poleaxe might be too heavy, a hammer was similar to a mace, then what was the best weapon? In his opinion, it was an axe since it could be used to chop trees faster. The faster he chopped the tree, the faster he could get his money. Of course, he didn't chop the tree indiscriminately since he wanted to protect the ecosystem of this mountain.

Why a tree?

Like what he had said before, money. Of course, he had talked about the benefit of axe training to Ur, besides training his body, the tree which was chopped could be sold on the town for money.

Ur was helpless, but she also felt that this axe training was very useful. It could make the body of the practitioner stronger and it could also fill the stomach of the practitioner. Once again, she had to admit that her pupil was very smart. She was wondering why she didn't think about this method before, but she had to admit that it was a very wonderful method.

Even though most people would prefer swords, he didn't care about any of that since his intention to do axe training wasn't to become stronger. it was being used to make his body training stronger and also to motivate him with money. Becoming a skilled axe wielder was only a side effect for him since he didn't think that he would use his axe during a battle when he could use magic to attack the opponent from afar.

Then lastly fight training. It was the simplest and the crulest one, but Bourne knew that it was necessary. Even if he had strong magic or body, it would be useless if he didn't know how to use it. If he was being asked to make a comparison then it would be similar to a gun which was being wielded by a baby. A gun was a very strong weapon and it could take the life of someone anytime, but if it was being held by a baby then it was useless.

Of course, another thing which motivated him about this training was money.

Bourne usually went to the mountain to hunt a magical beast or a beast which caused trouble to the ecosystem of the mountain. A lot of magical beasts were born with mutations and sometimes each of them was very strong which could a lot of animals within vicinity. It was troublesome when that happened and sometimes those magical beasts went to Ur's house. Then in the end, he slain them and sold its meat and fur to the town which gave him money.

It was all good training, it was hard to motivate him to train by telling him that he would get stronger. It was the same when a parent tried to motivate their parent to learn to become smarter, the children were too lazy to learn. Then in the end, the parent needed to give a reward to motivate their children better such as ranking one in the entire class then they would receive pocket money or something.

His view of money was something necessary, but it wasn't all of the purpose of his life or omnipotent since without money it was very troublesome, but there was something more important that money such as Ur. He wanted to live a comfortable life with Ur and of course, he needed money. Thinking about the future, he might as well buy this entire mountain later.

*Chop!* *Chop!* *Chop!*

The tree fell down and caused a loud "boom" sound then scattered the snow on the ground.

"Let's go back. You're very dirty. You need to take a bath."

Ur came and sighed when she saw his bleeding hand. She thought to wash him first then bandaged his hands later.

Bourne nodded and went back together with her. Looking at the vast sky, he felt that this place was too small. He wanted to see the world in the future, but before that he wanted to become an adult first.
