So, obvious title is obvious, but I'll still be giving some brief thoughts on how this should develop. And, yes, I'm aware of the more recent fan-fiction which uses the same setting, but his character is a Living Armor, whereas mine is set to be a wolf-type monster. I'm also gunning for a similar development to Rimuru, quickly gaining power and companions. I also would like to see a bit of romance for the MC. Yeah, I know he's going to be a canid, but we can rectify that later on in the story.
Let's get the blurb out of the way first: Human dies, either due to a criminal or some unfortunate accident. Similarly to Rimuru, he makes a couple of statements which are then interpreted and transformed into Skills. After taking his final breath, he awakes in a new body, that of a wolf pup, being licked clean by his new mother. I haven't exactly figured out what kind of wolf it should be, it could even be a Fang Wolf, but I'd prefer an original species.
So, what about Skills? Well, I have a few ideas, but there is one I'd definitely like to see above the rest. First, let's talk about your typical buffs. Things like Resistances, Agility, and Strength are all very important physical attributes, and definitely shouldn't be overlooked in terms of usefulness. Next is things that will help in the acquisition of Magic and other Skills. Analysis, Sage/Great Sage, Deconstruction, Predator, and Starving One would all greatly increase survivability. Though if you are going to use these, I wouldn't pick Starving One, it has a couple of negative effects, like never-ending hunger. I don't want to copy all of Rimuru's skills, so maybe combine Analysis & Deconstruction and then use Predator. But let's move on to my magnum opus for this fan-fiction.
Transcendent Evolutionary Growth, the main skill of the MC. Its name directly explains its affects, with three different abilities. First is Growth, which increases the speed of "leveling" by 5x. Second, Evolution gives the ability to freely evolve into a higher species at any time, so long as the requirements have been met. Thirdly, Transcendence removes any limit to growth and when combined with Evolution, guarantees the user will evolve into a stronger Variant of their chosen higher species.
Now, I'll give a few ideas on what higher species I'd like to see from Evolution. So, first is either Cerberus or Fenrir, for obvious reasons. Both of these would grant incredible physical power, as well as unique abilities. Obviously the Cerberus would have Parallel Thoughts and powerful fire magic, and Fenrir would be the opposite with Devour and ice. Next is a werewolf or lycanthrope, which would give the ability to switch between a human and wolf-like form. Naturally these suggestions shouldn't be the first species the MC will evolve into, they should be the last, or close to it.
