Chereads / Lone Hero: The True Heir Of The Realm / Chapter 16 - Must Be A Survivor

Chapter 16 - Must Be A Survivor

The next day, it was not even daybreak yet when Claude headed to the lab. Inside Levin was drinking his hot coffee looking all worn out from all the work last night.

"I modified your gun, you can double check it..." Professor Levin yawned

Claude ignored his words as he checks the bag the Levin has packed for him, after he confirms they prepared everything he closed it up and carried it, "No need, I'll be going then..."

"When will you return?" He asked

"Tomorrow, if everything so smooth." He replied

"Isn't the Academy Ranking starting next week?" Levin asked

Claude nodded, "No worries, I'll try my best..."

Levin smiled seeing the changes in Claude, he has watched him grew and could not be happier seeing him where he is now but how he wishes he did not take the path he is in right now.

Inside the car outside waiting for Claude, Alex was checking on some files when Claude got in. "All set?"

"Hmm, I'll try to finish things by tomorrow."

"Then I'll inform Grandfather you'll visit him next week."

"Thanks, father..."

After a few hours Claude finally arrived at M City Capital, he quickly got on a cab to take him to his destination. Back in the border of M City narrow area. It was past noon when Claude arrived, so he decides to take a quick break after a long journey and eat the food Martha has prepared for him.

Whilst he was having his lunch, a group of monster passed by. These monsters are dark demon creatures that have been summoned by the Demonoid, they are weaker than Demons and Demonoid.

A flock of monstrous birds was flying around, scanning the area for any trespassers.

Claude finished his meal ahead of scheduled and ended his break because of the sudden change in the situation. He did not expect, a group of monster would suddenly appear, he packed everything back in his bag and one of his guns appeared.

He quickly moved away from where he was killing the monster in his path one at a time preventing them from signaling the other monsters. Since they all turned to ashes, there wasn't any trace at all.

Claude ended up entering one of the empty building, he checked each room for any clue of what happened to the people living in this area. As he searched for some clue, he accidentally bumps into things causing some of them to stumble and making a sound alarming the monsters in the area.

The monster outside the building roared alarming everyone, Claude did not panic and instead quickly scanned the entire. Using his Caster ability, he could scan not only the whole building but the nearby areas as well. He checked for possible ways to escape since it won't wise for him to battle them.

"Crap..." he bites his thumb as they surrounded him and living him no other option but to fight his way out. He did not expect they would surround him this quick when he ensure no one was around.

As he runs to the top building, he blasts the door turning it into ashes. He walked out and saw Demonoid along with their summoned monsters and demons were already waiting for him.

"You should have not come."

"Say your prayers boy."

Claude did not say anything and summoned his other gun out.

"Stupid boy, get him..."

As the monster and demons attacked at once, Claude calmly points his gun at them causing an unexpected blow to one of the Demonoids. The other Demonoids were surprised when they saw the person next to them turned into ashes. It startled the rest and stop from attacking Claude, they contemplate whether to continue or not.

"What are you doing? Get him--" One of the Demonoid yelled

Claude started pressing on his small vambrace, it was an upgrade version of an AMSD and MBI. Soon he boosted his speed and accuracy before facing them off.

As the monster and demons attacked him at once, the swiftly passed some of them as he shot them down into ash. It shocks the Demonoids from seeing his incredible speed, he was almost at the same speed at them already. But what frightens them more was the fact he was able to take them all done in one go. But for Claude, it was still a great challenge since there were hundreds of them yet only one of him.

Claude finally escapes them, as he continued to clear his way and shoot the monster trying to kill him. He soon felt a little drained, it's been a couple of hours yet he has not found a safe place to hide. Since he has not found what he was looking for, he didn't feel the need to head back to the Capital yet. Instead, he continued to battle them one at a time until he finds a place for the night.

It was already sunset when Claude finally got rid of them, he was covered in sweat and his breathing was heavy. He put his bag in front of him as he got a bottle of water out, whilst he was drinking the water, his hand was trembling from the exhaustion spilling it all over him.

A soon as he finished drinking his water, he released a strange pain in his body. He notices a small cut in his arm, he didn't felt it earlier since he was busy fighting them off.

"Sh*t." he said

The cut was not an ordinary cut, even though it won't scare, it would take a while for it to heal since it was cut from a magic item. Wounds from demonic magic items take a while to heal but from some who are weak, it can kill you in one blow.

Claude sighed as he looked for the medical kit in his bag, he then patched his wound as he continued to look for a safer place to spend the night.

That evening, Clauded decided to go back to the building where they caught him. He thought since they found him there they won't expect he'll come back. He cast a small luminous light to light his way, just enough to blend in with the moonlight. He entered one room which seems to be an old office, inside were some fresh flower blooming, he went over to check the flower and it seems they weren't a few days old. Could it be someone else came to visit the place apart from him? Must be a survivor.

As he prepared himself to rest, he cast some spell avoiding the monster from sensing his presence. After he completed all the necessary enchantment, the rest for the night as he felt his body ache as he laid down.
