They sat in each other's embrace for a few more seconds. She sniffed and rubbed her eyes before speaking the little she could, "There's gonna be a big sweep." He froze realizing the severity of the situation, he only squeezed her tightly before letting go and getting up.
"Sit down let us talk this through and what to do next." he sat down as they both reflected on today's actions while the dulled sounds of horns, sirens, and screams could be heard in the background.
"The military is coming soon, we cannot remain here, if what your father said was correct then they are planning to kill every living being to make sure that this zombie-like episode doesn't spread."
"We have to leave as soon as possible!"
"Calm down." He interrupted before she could even stand to worry herself to death. "First grab a rucksack and pack water, dry light food or canned food, as much medicine and anything you see fit. Make sure you can run with it."
Nodding Suzy dashed off leaving him alone to think before standing to join her, it was unlikely they would find anything extremely useful but they had to make due, he held on to the edge of the chair ignoring the subtle shake of his arms.
They got to work raiding what they could and anything they thought was useful that they could carry.
"Ready?" Suzy asked as she strapped her bag against her back, he nodded as he tied the shoelaces of his trainers. "Where to?" She asked unlocking the door to let in a wave of cacophony that nearly toppled her calm confidence she had gathered while looking for supplies form the small apartment.
"Nissan"
This area was extremely close to the city centre, it was a shitty place to be in the case of a communicable disease, however, they were close to quite a few car companies. He had realized that if they needed to leave this place they needed a motorcycle. Getting out of the building was easy but coming back out to the streets of Manchester was absolute chaos. A few cars were now on the pavement, fights and screams everywhere with some dead people on the floor in different areas, feeling nauseous Suzy looks away and started running after the older boy. They passed by a few empty cars that had been deserted by people who had most likely realized this hell was not going to end any time soon.
Her heart tried to support her body with oxygen as she tried to keep up with her partner who was still running without breaking a sweat. It was no surprise that a few cars had tried to get over the pedestrian bridge to no avail blocking the bridge that would lead them across the motorway that had been still due to insane traffic.
Closing her eyes she pushed on to come to the supposedly empty car company, this was the end of the world, no one had time for stealing cars, granted some windows were smashed and some cars were indeed missing. He signalled for her to wait outside while he went in search of the keys, it wasn't hard to find a few keys loitering around the place since the car salesmen had probably left in a hurry, the issue was which cars did the keys light up. While Kamron was occupied Suzanne had a harder time keeping calm with the blaring car horns from the intense traffic coming from a major road not far from there; they couldn't drive a car through that mess, their only option was a motorbike which she prayed that he had at least learnt since it would be immensely convenient. Soon, a car a foot away from her lit up and Kamron came rushing out with a proud smile on his face.
"Why didn't you get a motorbike? How are we meant to ride a car in that traffic?" He frowned slightly, "It's the end of the world we don't have to drive using the road, besides, I never learnt to drive a motorbike, but I can ride a bicycle..."
Not long after they were biking back down to the city centre, more than likely the sweep will start from the outskirts into the middle of the city, they had planned to stock up on essentials before anything happened, unfortunately, everyone else seemed to have the same idea. "Well there goes our plan B, there's been so much panic but we've barely seen a zombie since we left school, what exactly is going on here?" Suzanne said slightly frustrated as the sound of breaking glass resounded while they passed by as pharmacy. Everywhere was filled to the brim with people, from the streets to the stores, she didn't think there were that many people in their city, their only choice right now was to go back tho the apartment and wait for the sweep out.
They returned to the small apartment and locked the door behind them before deciding to settle down and listen to the noise from the outside after a few hours screams of terror could be heard along with the sound of an automatic gun.
She shivered involuntarily.
