The woman's eyes where alight with inspiration and deep with concentration, their color dark like the ink that was being used to drench the brush on her slender hand and bring to life a beautiful and breathtaking painting. The colors weren't to light neither to dark. They were just right and the soft touches of deep red were exactly what the painting needed to turn into a piece of art. Sighing contentedly the woman looked up from her finished product drying on the low table over her folded legs. The open window in front of her and at the other side of the comfy room where she stayed more of her time those days, was open and a soft breeze entered caressing her checks and dancing between the long strands of her thick brown hair.
Closing her eyes she breathed in deep smiling softly after. She haven't felt so happy and unbothered in a really long time. There has always been a reason to worry, to look over her shoulder and wait. For what she never know but she never lowered her guard. It was like something in her very bones told her that she couldn't relax, couldn't think that everything was fine and the world was at peace even if it looked like it. But, now, back home after so long in her little and comfortable space she couldn't help but to finally relax. Not only because of the place where she was in but because after so long that feeling of paranoia and fear have left her. Because even though everyone in the realm and in the five nations where trembling in their boots and fearing for their life, she know that everything would be alright.
Looking at the bright, big and full moon in the night sky she smiled serenely and with a strange sense of calm. Yes, indeed. Everything would be fine know.
-Its ok. I' am not mad at you, dear.-She whispered at apparently nothing but by the sharp intake of breath- that no matter how low it could have been it shattered the quiet silence of the comfy room- right behind her there was someone beside her in the room now. Closing her eyes she took slowly the neckless around her neck and put it beside her in the floor with slow movements like she was trying not to scare away a stray cat.
-There. Take it. Its because of this that you came right? Then is yours.- She say softly without opening her eyes. Behind her a figure could be seen pulling away from the shadows and with steps that almost made no noise over the wood of the floor the figure reached down to the neckless with a hand covered in thick gloves. With fingers shaking slightly the figure took the neckless but before it could pull its hand away the slender and apparently fragile hand of the woman sitting on the floor reached out and took hold of its writs with surprising strength. In reflex the figure took out the dagger in its pouch and put it against the woman's jugular pressing just a little until a thin drop of blood slide down her neck. But the woman didn't flinch neither opened her eyes or let go of its writs.
-I just want you to hear a warning before you take away my life.-she say softly relaxing her hold on the wrist and the figure stopped pressing on her neck.
-What could you possibly want to say now? That I can't kill you because it would disturb the balance?-Asked the figure in a deep, rich voice that was definitely male- with a slight sardonic tone making the woman smile a little bit morbid. The man didn't notice that were the woman was holding, a little and faded thread of blue color was slipping away from her hand and trailing up his.
The little tension in the woman's shoulders dissipated and slowly she let go of his hand. The man stood upright while taking with him the neckless and putting it inside another pouch around his waist. But he didn't move away from her side. The dagger on his hand was shaking slightly but surely and anyone looking would have noticed. Softly the woman started talking while folding her hands over her lap. The man couldn't help but bite the inside of his cheeks until he could taste blood on his tonged. How could she be so calm about this!
- I'm pretty sure that you suspect already but be warry of the Sages ok? You may not be like me but you are still special. Take care of yourself.- A wet and broken noise forced its way out of the mans throat at the woman's words and he raised his free hand to press against his forehead.
-You are…you are amazing…Vess. -he said in a low tone feeling like he was going to go mad with the pain growing with the minute in his chest. The woman laughed softly. Her eyes where still closed. Breathing in deep the man gripped tightly his dagger.
-Goodbye…-He whispered and with those words it was like the life left him all together.
A flash of silver could be seen suddenly in the dark of the night and blood splattered on the floor and on a beautiful painting of a dark forest with a full moon and red dost dancing in the night sky. A shadow with a dagger painted in red walked out of the room unnoticed and as quietly as it came. Left behind on the floor the woman looked at the moon shining brightly and at the golden dots dancing in the night of the deep forest- that could be seen at the other side of the little window in her room. Her eyes, bright just a few minutes before where slowly losing their luster and her skin was turning white as paper with the loss of blood. But, even though she was dying her serene smile haven't left her face. Slowly she closed her eyes and breathed her last feeling more at peace than ever. Her last thought was that she should have say goodbye at less. To late now, though. She could just hope for that person to know that she was grateful. For everything.
