Chapter 1 - Superstition

It was the middle of the night. I was on my way home from my working shift as I walked through a dark alley, the short cut I used to get home on time. I know dangerous right... but I wasn't worried because I knew no one came here.

This part of the city was deserted because of its old buildings that had to be demolished and rebuilt. The moonlight beamed down into the dark alley as to provide me with light since none of the streetlights appeared to be working.

It was completely dark out but I could still somehow see where I was going. The cold air hit the back of my neck as vapour escaped my lips while I was breathing and the fog seemed to disperse as I walked.

I tightened my trench coat when an icy wind blew through the alley causing me to shiver. All I could hear was the clicking of my heels while I was walking. Suddenly I heard a strange sound which sounded like a tin can hitting the ground and a cat hissing. I stopped walking immediately. My hair blowing in the wind as I felt the cold breeze.

Was I not alone? Could there be someone else here?... I thought. Yes, I know I was basically looking for trouble by coming to a place like this at night... I mean, what girl in her right mind would do such a thing and not to mention the dangers, thugs and gang leaders.

Honestly, I knew I did a stupid thing by coming here but I really thought no one would be here. You see, other than this part of the city being deserted, it was also known to be paranormal. Well, to the superstitious anyway. They believed that the area was bewitched. So no one, not even the gangs came here until now that is.

I, on the other hand didn't believe any of it and whoever was on the other side of this alley, didn't believe it either. I was about to turn around and walk in the direction the streetlights shone when I saw a pair of bright green emerald looking eyes.

I was mentally freaking out and I honestly wanted to run. But for some reason I just froze on the spot. I kept as quiet as possible, trying to maintain a steady heart rate in the hopes that whoever it was wouldn't see me. But it was too late... The eyes appeared to be moving closer towards me as the moonlight beamed down, revealing what it was....

To be continued...

❝ What could it be? Creepy hey... But we'll just have to wait and see in the next chapter... ❞
