Ari's POV
The cry of a baby princess inside the castle was very easy for him to find her before the bad could reach her.
You're probably wondering who she is right? Well just buckle up and I'll get to it.
First things first. My name is Ari Constantine. I am a half demon. I was born with black angel wings, turquoise blue hair and brown-black eyes. It wasn't until I turned 3 months old that my hair turned dark brown and my eyes turned to the color of lavender purple. Pretty cool aye? Unfortunately, that only happens when I'm beyond pissed off.
When I was a year old, I was chosen by the king and queen to protect their beloved daughter: Midnight Luna Moonlight.
A part of me was very confused about why they wanted me to protect her. From what I was told, she had the Prince of Vampires; Romeo Fang James watching over her like a mother hawk. Even if you don't see him, he's actually not too far away. Just ask his twin brother Shadow Smith. Born together but separated at a young young age.
Anyways, many battles have been going on and the battles were only made to kidnap or kill the princess, Luna Moonlight.
Why Luna you ask? Well that's for another time.
I ran all the way to the room of the princess. And trust me when I say it's not a hop, skip, and a jump to get there. It's more like there is a left and a right stair case and her room is on the fourth floor on the right side of this medieval grey castle. And on top of that, the way to her room is purposely hard to find. It's like going through a labyrinth because the hallways are constantly changing. But for the servants and certain people, you can get through without any hassle.
"Fourth floor!" I heard one of the enemy's cry out.
I started running a bit more faster. You're probably wondering why I don't just teleport myself to her room and be done with it because I'm a half demon right? Well in times like this, the labyrinth allows nobody to teleport. Not even me.
I have to get there before they do.
I mentally tell myself.
I don't want to let the king and queen down. I don't want to let them down for only one reason: the princess Luna Moonlight (Midnight Luna Moonlight) is the only princess in two thousand years who possesses a very rare gift that was passed down to many who are born on the blood moon.
Midnight was born on All Hallows Eve. She was born with curly white hair, baby blue eyes, and was given a rare gift from her grandmother. The gift allows you to become any creature and do anything and it also grants eternal life. But it doesn't go into effect unless you die. The moment Midnight ingested the gift, her pure white hair turned raven black and she sneezed causing a pair of beautiful white angel wings to come straight out of her back. From what I've heard she's the very last one of her kind. And the most powerful.
When I finally reached the room gasping and out of breath, the king and queen were wrapping their beloved daughter Luna in her navy blue blanket (her very first cloak). The king looked up at me with his stone cold blue eyes and nodded for me to come and get her while his wife walked away weeping golden tears. "You've been training years for this day." He says in a sad whisper as he strokes Luna's chunky cheek softly.
"You know what to do. We'll hold them long enough for you to get away from here." He continues as tears start to brim at his eyes.
He stared at his daughter for what felt like hours before his head shot up and he started to talk a bit urgently.
"We don't have much time left. You have to get her away from here and go now!" The king said to me as he looked at Luna one last time before he covered her face; placing her in my arms and walking over to barricade her door.
I looked down at Luna and found it strange that she looks like a baby again.
"Will I ever see you guys again- your Majesty?" I asked unsure.
The king looked at me gravely while his wife continued to weep and I swallowed hard because the answer to my question was very obvious.
"We'll hold 'em long enough for you two to get away from here." He said in a hurried tone.
"She must not ever come back to the underworld. Not unless she is in some disguise. She must not know of her being an underworld princess." He continues while barricading the door.
"She must not know of her real name. She will be put with the humans and learn to be one. She will know nothing of this place." He says going void of any emotion.
"You will continue to protect her in the mundane world. Now go! That's an order." The king says pushing me gently in the direction of the window.
I exhaled very softly and looked down at Midnight Luna Moonlight.
The future queen of Slymethius. Never to know where she came from or who she is.
I turned around and headed for the window and suddenly stopped. I spun back around to face the king and queen with a look of horror.
I tapped into telepathy with the king to let him know that Chen was on his way but by the time I did, the door exploded and pieces of it started flying everywhere as well as all the metal that was meant to hold the door.
"Guess who?" The creature said with an evil laugh following behind as I see the queen fall down on the floor in a silent heap.
"Oh shit!" I said with fear as a shard missed my head by several inches.
"How long do you think you can hold a werewolf off to let me get away with Luna safely?" I yell to the king while checking to see if Luna is OK considering the fact that me and Fang turned her into a 4 month old baby in human years.
"Not long. But I suggest you jump now before you die too. Go!" The king said crying over his dead wife who was instantly killed by a metal door shard , piercing her through the heart.
I held Luna close to my chest praying she won't get hurt when I jump. But I didn't let that stop me from running full speed across her four bedroom house sized room with glow in the dark twinkling stars.
I jumped on top of her long table with arts and crafts everywhere, spreading my solid-black wings to get ready for flight. But just as I was about to make it out of the window; a hand grabbed a hold of my wing and pulled me backwards, making me loose my grip on Luna.
"Nooo!" I yell out as I see her fly out the window.
Like everything in slow motion, I tried to make it to her; but the jackass who had a hold of me spun me around, grinned at me all arrogant and punched me square in the face.
At first glance, I thought it was Fang. But at second glance, I noticed it was his twin brother: Shadow.
And where there's a Shadow, there's a Fang!
"Midnight!!!" I hear Fang cry out as I see him jump clean out the window.
'Please catch her!' I pray to him in telepathy as I get hit in the face again.
Fangs POV
Just the sight of her falling was enough to make my heart jump out of my chest. As a vampire warlock, I ran across her bedroom in seconds and jumped out of the four story window of the kingdom yelling her name.
"Midnight!!!" Ari may be the protector that her parents hired, but nobody keeps her safe like I do. I was assigned by Midnight herself to protect her.
She chose me at birth.
I'm a vampire mixed with warlock and I have a small percentage of werewolf in me as well. But its more recessive than my vampire and warlock genes.
But that's how she chose me. I imprinted on her.
"Et procidens prohibere!" I yell out as she stops falling in mid air. I continue falling down; and when I got closer to her, I reached my arms out and grabbed her tiny fragile body suspended in the air.
I continue to free fall with her in my arms but I also make sure that the wind doesn't take her breath away while she's in an enchanted slumber.
I brace myself for the ground that's nearing and simply chuckle as my feet and I hit the ground as graceful and silently as a cat.
"I got you my little flower. Don't worry. I'll always save you." I murmur to her while she continues to sleep.
Ari's POV
I finally managed to get free of Shadow.
For now.
Fang told me that he had caught Luna and that she was safe. He also told me that he took her to the human realm for me and that I just needed to get her from him.
Something that I simply don't understand, he said he couldn't watch her get taken away by some strangers and that it'd be best that he wasn't there.
But that's the thing. He's always there. He has more respect from the king and queen than I do. And Luna simply adores him. It was always Fangie this and Fangie that when she was a toddler. It wasn't until she was 15 in underworld years that I was hired. She was a beautiful young adult and I fell helplessly in love with her. I was 17.
I shook my head to clear my thought and launched myself skyward and started flying east towards the human realm.
I scanned the grounds until I found Fang.
He was about ten miles away from the house Luna will be staying at for a while.
I landed on the ground with a thump and walked a short distance to Fang.
At first, he was hesitant about handing her over to me.
He's always been this way! I mean what the hell is his problem!?
Oh well.
It doesn't matter because I was promised her hand in marriage.
When he finally handed her over, he sniffled a bit and ran into the woods fast and far.
I strapped Luna to my chest and started walking to the clearing in the woods.
When I was far enough away from my starting point, I took out a necklace that my great grandmother gave to me and thought for a moment. Then I put it back in my pocket and launched myself into the sky.
I kept a slow flight so as to not get Luna too cold or have her loose her breath.
I kept a look out for the grayish blue trailer house and
when I spotted it, I closed my solid-black wings and started to drop downward one hundred and fifty miles per hour. And when I was three hundred feet from the ground, I extended my wings and allowed them to fill up with air to slow myself down. I started to do the walking motion in the air so when I hit the ground, I would be walking.
When I made it to the ground, I felt like an angel gracefully coming down to earth.
As if!
I looked at Luna; she looked back at me with her moonlight blue eyes sparkling when the sunset light hit them. That was until she fell asleep cradled against my twenty-two year old broad chest.
Life really sucks. It's barely been three years yet and she has to be taken away to some dimension that she doesn't even belong to. Luna is only two years old if she were a human (which she is not) , but in Slymethius she would be considered as a twenty year old. For me, I'm simply two years older than her in underworld years.
Yeah, I know!
I'm only a child in human years protecting another child who is royal .
"Luna, when you're older, I'll tell you everything you need to know." I whispered to her as I softly kissed the top of her head, trying not to wake her.
I walked up the wooden stairs of the trailer and I gently laid Luna down on the doorstep of the couple that I've been watching for now two years and here I am back at this doorstep with Luna.
I wiped a tear away from my eye because I can't bear to part with her. Now that me and her have such a strong bond. But a protector has to do what he has to do even if it means loosing his life trying to protect the person they were assigned to keep safe -and love.
I took a note that I had already pre-written out of my leather black jacket pocket and put it silently and carefully on her blanket.
As soon as I did, I wanted to cry. But I have to stay strong because I knew this day would come sooner or later and a part of me wanted it to be later and not so soon.
I took my great grandmothers sapphire stone necklace outta my jacket pocket and slipped it around her neck. My soon to be wife's neck, but not anymore .
"Farewell Luna." I whisper to her. "You're in safe hands now. No harm shall come to you. For now, you will remember nothing for fifteen years. But as long as I live, I will not stop thinking about you." I say as tears start gushing down my face.
'Why are you crying , Ari?' Luna says softly in telepathy as her hand reaches for the necklace and then my hand.
I just looked at her with a sad look in my eyes and that's when she looked at me in horror as she realized where we were.
'No! I can't be here! Don't leave me here Ari. Please!' she cried out in telepathy trying to turn herself back to a twenty year old. But since I knew she would try something like this, me and Fang had put an enchantment on her to prevent her from looking so familiar if an underworlder came snooping around.
"Don't let me change my mind, if it were my choice, I'd take you back to Slymethius and watch over you myself. I'd keep you safe forever but I can't. You know I cant." I say ten times more upset as her black hair started turning to a strawberry blond and her baby blue eyes to the color green.
And I did the last thing that I ever wanted to do: I knocked on the door and ran away full speed as she cried for me not to leave her in such a strange and alien-like land. I flew away into the night while tears were clouding my vision. I then stopped so abruptly and turned around to go back to the house to make sure that she would be taken inside. All I heard before the doors closed was : "God answered our prayers and gave us a little girl." She was taken in just like that.
My girl.
My precious Luna Moonlight.
My life.
My world.
Gone.
'I'll be back for you, Luna. I love you.' I said telepathically to her .
'I love you too. Just don't leave me for long.' She said to me sniffling and trying to be strong.
'I won't' I said disconnecting our telepathy and erasing her memories.
It wasn't until later that I found out it wasn't me who she was replying 'I love you too and don't leave me for long' to.

Hello. And thank you for reading my book. I just wanted to say that this book is currently under some major editing so please bear with me.
I also wanted to say something for the time and age in the underworld. In my book, the times and ages for Slymethius and the human realm are different. So I'll explain really quick so that way you won't be confused when I use these references.
One second is one minute
One minute is one hour
One hour is one day
One day is one week
One week is one month
One month is one year
But remember this... the time goes by just as slow. Everything that goes on happens in an accelerated time. what you think that you've done and it takes a few hours is actually only a few minutes or seconds in the human realm.
But what happens in a few hours or minutes in the underworld is only a few seconds in the Underwood. I also wanted to let you know about age. So lemme sum that up.
1 month=10 months
2 months=1yr and 5 months
3-9 months basically just consists of math just add 10
1 year= 10 yrs
2 years=20 yrs
3-9 years is about the same way. But it's still very complicated to explain because to get the exact age you'd have to add the time with the age rule.
