CHAPTER 44
HYACINTH's POV
Before we started listening to the songs, her secretary, Edward, came with the watermelons. Was his name really Edward? Ugh… just don't mind for now. I am sometimes lost in time and space when I talk to other people, especially if it's the first encounter. My manager said maybe because I was nervous. Yes, despite being in this industry for quite awhile, I can't help but be nervous.
"Here are the watermelons. Do you still need anything, Ms. Yvory and Ms. Hyacinth?"
His voice sounded so good to my ears. Wait!! What was I even thinking?!
"No, thank you Edward. How about you Hyacinth?"
"Huh? What?! Ahmm… No, I'm fine thanks." I answered.
Come on Hya, you need to focus. But I want to know about this new secretary. Well, maybe I'll get other chances since we're working on the same agency. For now, I need to concentrate on this meeting. This might be the turning point in my career which I have been waiting and wanting for a long time.
As I listen to the songs, I can't help but be amazed with the tune. Even the lyrics are way different. I like all of them as they all showcased maturity but I got to admit, there are some challenging parts. But for me, these sound like the songs I liked when I was in college.
Way back when I was a student, there was a student composer who has the pen name G&S. As both of them weren't in music major, nobody knew who they were. But every song they produced were hit inside the campus and earned inter school recognition and even professional entertainment companies want to hire them for their idols. I wanted to sing their songs but for some reason, when I was in 4th year, both of them vanished and never released any song.
One of the reasons why I decided to work for SkyMu was that the rumor that Airis was behind G&S since she once won an award for it. But after 2 years of working for her, I know that she's not the one.
Although the songs were different but the approach were the same. I can even here and feel that the writer also grew up and matured a lot. I really want to know who composed these songs.

YVE's POV
And finally, the time has come to listen to Hyacinth's comments and evaluations.
"So? How are the songs?" I asked.
My! I really can't read her expression. Maybe I should ask her how to keep that face which I can use when facing my Amira and Airis as well as the rest of the Board. Then, to my delight, she smiled and said,
"These songs were great! I can't even choose one title track! With the production team working on some adjustments, I know these will start the change in my image." She said happily filled with mild excitement.
"That's great to hear. Do you have any request regarding the songs?"
"Well, not exactly a request. But I would like to know, did G&S made these songs?"
"G&S?"
What a familiar name! Vincent and I used that pen name when we were in college to write songs for the school. The students would drop their requests in our self-created mailbox with their locker number and other details. We didn't reveal ourselves so as not to anger Airis or to cause any misunderstanding. We also didn't want the campus' music department to misinterpret our actions. We just love music that's it.
"Yes, G&S. They were famous when I was a student and I even listen to their songs until now."
"Why do you think that G&S created the songs?"
"Well, there's a similarity and familiar feeling but not enough to call it redundancy. And you know what? I've been wanting to meet them and ask them to make a song for me. But the former president didn't find them…." She said.
"Or maybe she just didn't look hard enough." She added the last part softer than her previous line. She thought I will not hear it.
"What if I tell you who's the person behind G&S?"
"Of course that would be great!!! So who are they?"
"G&S stands for Gray and Smith." I gave out a clue.
"Gray and Smith? Wait!!! GRAY from Gray Group and SMITH from Stones Enterprises?! ARE YOU SAYING YOU'RE ONE OF THEM?!?!?" She sounded so excited.
I am shy to admit it verbally so I just nodded in response. In awe, she hugged me tightly and said, "YES! Finally I met one of them and I can sing not just one but three songs!! Thank you very much!!"
"Uhmm….. You're welcome, Hyacinth. I am also happy to met one of our fans if you can call it that. But can you release me now? It's getting hard to breathe."
"Oops.. I'm sorry." She released me.
"I was so excited. I hope you didn't mind."
I smiled and said, "It was fine."
Then she sat down again and with a serious look on her face, I knew that she has calmed down and wants to talk about business again so I did the same.
"But when will the final version be finished? I don't mean to rush but as much as I understand that it's not easy for the team, I also need to practice. There are some parts which I find it difficult." She honestly confessed.
"Oh, I see. The team said they can finish the original songs within 3 days. But do you want to adjust those difficult parts?" I offered.
"No. I'm up for the challenge instead. If it's possible can I have a copy of the original demo version so that I can practice it later with my vocal coach?" She humbly ask.
"Of course, that will be fine with me. I will let Edward give a copy to your manager and another one to your coach."
"Okay. That will be perfect then."
"Yes." Then I stood up and extended my hand again.
"That will be all for today, Hyacinth. It was really nice meeting you. See you in three days."
She gladly accepted my hand and replied, "The pleasure is all mine. I'll be happy to see you again. Excuse me."
With that, she went out of my office and followed her out. Outside my office, I saw her manager and Edward. They were talking and I signaled Edward to give a copy to her manager who gladly accepted the USB and bid their farewell.
I approached Ed and he said,
"Everything went well. Good job, Yvory." He then offered a high five which I gladly accepted and replied,
"Yeah, at least for now. As the team is working on the album, I need to do some other things. But do I have anything on my schedule this afternoon?"
"Well, aside from your lunch with Vince, to which you should be going to right now, you have nothing scheduled." Ed said.
I was astonished so I looked at my watch to see that it's already 12 Noon. I hurried back to my office to get my bag and went out to see Ed standing by the VIP elevator. I came inside running and said,
"Thanks." I said and he nodded in response. But still I need to ask him something. So I gathered my courage and asked,
"Do you think he will get mad at me for being late?"
"Well, I did inform him around 11:30 that your meeting hasn't finished yet. But you can call him right now to tell him you're on your way."
"Yes! Nice idea! Thanks, Edward."
He lead the way towards the building where a car is waiting. The guard opened the door for me as Edward went to the driver's seat. I sat inside and opened my bag. I immediately called Vince.
Oohhh…. I hope he's not mad at me. I totally forgot the time.
