FLASHBACK 4
(Training Camp Day)
YVE's POV
It was the day of the training camp. My dad was not able to do anything with the budget because of the school procedures which must be followed. Because of that, Airis hasn't been talking to me.
The past few days, Airis has been acting differently. It was like she's a different person. She would ignore me and would fight about small things. She wasn't like that. My dad told me to give in to her because she's just feeling down about the training camp.
"Baby, are you ready? Someone's here to fetch you?" My dad said after knocking on my door.
"Someone? I thought you are going to drive me there?" I turned around to face him.
"Well, that was the original plan. But I was thinking of taking your sister out to the villa to lift her spirits up. Someone has volunteered to ensure your safety during your training in my behalf."
"Dad, who is that someone?" I was very curious.
"You will know when you are done."
"DAD!!""Don't keep him waiting. Move faster, my princess." With that my dad left the room and went downstairs.
I finished packing and closed my luggage. I was about to leave my room when Airis came.
I smiled and said, "Airis..."
"You're really smiling, huh?!" She said while crossing her arms.
"Why are you so mad at me? Is it because of the training camp?"
"Please, I am not that petty to dwell on that issue for so long."
"So why are you..."
"You really don't know or you're just acting so dumb?!?!?"I shook my head in disagreement.
Airis took a deep breath and said, "Vincent is here to pick you up."
"VInce?! I mean Vincent?!"I saw anger in Airis' face as she heard me call Vincent in his nickname.
"So you're on that calling each other by nickname stage. How about me?"
"Airis it is not like that. We're really just friends."
I tried to hold her hand but instead she pushed me. I lost my balance and fell down bringing a flower vase with me.
"WHAT HAPPENED?" My Daddy asked after seeing me on the ground with broken shards of the vase and some flowers.
"Nothing, dad. I lost my balance." I answered as I try to conceal the truth.
Vince hurriedly ran to my side and helped me to stand but I can't. I felt pain in my right ankle.
"It hurts. I think I twisted my ankle." I said to Vince.
"Excuse me, then." He carried me to my bed in a princess style.
I saw anger in Airis' eyes as well as with Mommy but it's a different thing with Daddy.
"I think you should not go to the training camp, Baby." That was my Dad.
"NO!! I can't. All of the materials are with me. I will also facilitate some stress relieving activities during the camp."
"But, Baby..."
"I'll try to apply immediate treatment right now. But you need to go to the hospital for a little bit and be late." Vince interrupted and applied cold compress to my ankle.
When did he have the chance to get the rubber thermal bag?
"Okay, I guess being late is better than missing the entire camp."
"Sir, if you don't mind, I will bring Yve to the hospital."
"Of course. Thank you, Vince. I put my daughter's safety in your hands."
Vince turned around and bowed to my father while saying, "Thank you."
Daddy called our personal driver to bring my luggage down. Amidst all the eyes, Vince decided to carry me in a princess style. I tried to stop him because I am embarrassed but he said I should cooperate if I don't want us to fall down the stairs together.
As he was carrying me, I can feel dagger stares being thrown at me. If I only looks can kill, I would be dead now. But there is this heart again, beating so fast. I can't think of any reason for this. I can't understand myself anymore. But as I was so close to Vince's face, I can clearly see his facial features again. And goodness, I really love his eyes with his long eyelashes which can make girls like me jealous. He also has thin lips in the center of his two dimples. Every time he smiles, his dimples and eyes are tempting you to smile with him, too.
Finally, on what seems to be a long walk has ended when we arrived at his car. My Daddy opened the front passenger seat's door. Vince put me gently down and fastened my seat belt for me.
"You should text them that we will be late and that we will meet them on the training camp area so that they will not worry." Vince advised.
"Oh right. So that they will also leave the campus on time." I responded and texted our club mates.
I was focused on texting that I didn't notice Vince was already sitting in the driver's seat. It was only when the car's engine turned on that I realized.
"I think it would be better to call them." "I also think so."
I decided to give them a call and inform them of the reason. The were a bit worried and advised me to take some rest and miss the training camp. I talked to my club mates for awhile and when it's time for them to leave, I decided to end the phone call.
Silence filled the car as I was feeling the pain in my ankle intensifying. That act didn't escaped Vince and he asked, "Is the pain worsening?"
I took a deep sigh and answered, "Yeah, but I think I can still tolerate it just until we reach the hospital."
"You didn't fell down, right?"
His question shocked me and made me look at him. We reach an intersection and the car stopped because the traffic light signaled us to. He also look at me and further explained.
"You wouldn't fall down bringing a vase with you."
"Hahahahaha, you think too highly of me." I avoided his eyes and looked outside.
"You know you can't lie to me. You have a habit of avoiding eye contact when you lie. You are not a good liar."
I look at his reflection in the mirror. He would sometimes glance towards my side. When we reached another intersection he started talking again.
"It's okay if you don't want to tell me anything. It's just I thought we are close enough for you to share your problems with me. But I guess I was wrong."
What he said made me turn around and hold his hand.
"You're not wrong. You're important to me and I am thankful for the things you did, the things you are doing now. You're special."
He looked at me and our eyes met. I was once again drawn by his eyes and this time, it looks like he was also lost in deep thought. He held my hand tightly and said, "You're also special to me. I care about you. That is why I want to know what happened."
Once again, silence filled the car while the both of us enjoyed looking at each other. My heart is acting wild because of what is happening. We lost in our own worlds until we heard a loud noise outside. We both looked behind us to see an angry driver. We both look in front to see that the traffic light had already turned green. Vince started driving the car without letting go of my hand. I wanted to seize the moment so I didn't inform him about it.
Finally we arrived at the emergency department of the hospital. We were holding each other's hand the whole trip. It was only after arriving at the hospital did Vince let go of my hand. He went out and opened the passenger door for me. At that moment, I decided to tell him the truth.
"Vince"
"Hmm?" He looked at me.
I was playing with his hands when I said, "Airis pushed me that's why I fell."
A few seconds passed and there was no reaction, so I looked at him. Is that anger I saw in his face?
"Wh.."
"Excuse me, sir. Let us carry the patient on your behalf." It was the nurse of the hospital.
"Yes, please take care of her." It was Vince backing away.
"Of course sir."
