Chapter 10 - Bullseyes I

Artemis kept her stance and took seven more shots, enough to empty the clip. Every shot was a successful bullseye and they all went through the original bullet hole. Everyone's jaws were almost unhinged because of how long they were open. John, the expert war hero, could not believe what he was seeing. He was used to first time shooters acting like Damien. Artemis was an anomaly.

"Young Miss, have you ever used a gun before?" John was stunned.

"No. This is the first time that I have used any gun. Can we try the hunting rifle next?" Artemis kept her calm even though she was so outstanding. Her ability to make every shot count was unbelievable for John. He was considering seeing her limits.

"Sure. After we have you use the hunting rifle, we will move onto the M16 rifle, followed by a M1014 shotgun. Lastly, we will have you try one of the longest reaching guns, the Barrett 50 cal," John had already made a schedule for her. He was excited to see her limits.

"Sounds like fun! You will have to help teach me how to fire each gun though, as I have never fired them before, especially for guns like the shotgun or sniper as they have unique differences from the others," Artemis was a good shot, but she wasn't omniscient. She had to learn each gun and how to use them before she could be amazing with them.

"That is perfectly fine. Okay, for the hunting rifle, you need to worry more about your shoulders as the kick from firing the shot will push into your shoulder. Also, the length of the rifle is harder to manage as you need to place your hands at a different location from the short pistol you used before," John patiently explained. Damien had almost fainted from how well Artemis shot. She seemed almost god-like with how she followed John's instructions to a tee and perfectly executed on theory.

"Artemis, I'm rooting for you. Try to get all the bullseyes. If you do, I'll let you ask me for anything," Damien cheered her on. Offering her a favor here would be something that he would eventually regret for a significant portion of his life.

"Haha! Don't go back on your word!" Artemis was psyched. Damien had never promised her the ability to ask for anything before. She wasn't sure yet how she wanted to take advantage of the offer, but until she had succeeded at the challenge set by Damien, she shouldn't worry too much about the potential opportunities.
