Sampson Stone walked into his families real estate business in a stylish suit of navy blue with his black hair slicked back with every hair in place and steely grey eyes that spoke of total focus. With his athletic build and six foot frame he made an imposing figure even for the business world. He walked through the lobby and past the secretaries and the two security personnel checking identification badges planing to ignore their gossipy muttering as usual. But As he was ushered past he heard a word that stopped him in his steps. "Excuse me, did you just mention the CEO of Bells Construction?"
The secretaries who were used to being ignored by their handsome boss man positively beamed as they smiled at him nodding. "Yes, its been announced that Miss Cross of Bells Construction is returning to the Capitol and will be speaking at their annual party next week." the first secretary coquettishly told him while batting her thick lashes.
"Its been all over the gossip columns all morning and has even been posted on several online daily news forums." The other chipped in not wanting her fellow worker to get all of Sampson's attention. The two looked at him expectantly for a moment as he simply stared past them in silence lost in thought. The first secretary decided to be bold and interrupt his thoughts "You are so lucky. I know you and the CEO are invited to the party every year." He blinked at her words and a bold smile played across his lips. That was right he would be there and finally he could put a face to the name that haunted a deep part of his past. His smile made the secretaries sigh a bit as they watched him. He truly needed to smile more they thought.
With a quick thank you to the women Sampson quickly made his escape. If he didn't think it would cause a big hassle and maybe even a small panic he would have ran to the CEO's office to get to his brother with the news. Finally maybe they could both have some answers. He usually declined invited to business parties such as the one this weekend but he hoped that his brother hadn't given away his seat yet because he would do just about anything to snatch it back. His brothers office was on the 18th floor, the top floor that they rented in this building and the elevator ride had never seemed so long. He found himself crossing his arms and absent mindlessly drumming his fingers as his mind whirled back to man whose death had never felt right with him or his brother.
Logan Bell had been a college buddy of his brothers and had personally taken him on as an internship once he was in college. Being 12 years younger then his brother and 13 years younger than Logan meant that the man had been his mentor into the business world. He had saved him from having to take on an internship role at his own families business and have to work under his Elder brother Perry whom he had never felt that close with. Logan had gladly taken him on that summer and had helped guide him outside of work as well. After the internship had ended their friendship had continued even though both were often too busy with their family companies to meet often they would have weekly strategy meetings at a restaurant down town every Thursday and even Perry whom he had eventually gotten along with had joined them when he could.
The elevator doors dinged open and Sampson strode forward propelled by the uneasy feeling and anger that was rising in the pit of his stomach. No one tried to stop him or even tried to greet him as they took in the glacial expression on his face and the aura of anger that simply radiated off of him.
