Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Surprise Reunion

"Haaa..." Wang Dong let out a sigh as he dropped over his soft bed, his long blue hair fanning out around him like a cascade of sapphire waves, moonlight spilling through the window, casting a gentle glow over the room. The day's training wasn't as hard as some days, but it was still very tiring, fortunately thanks to the Mysterious Heaven Skill and his light element, his recovery rate is higher than the average Soul Elder; just an hour of sleep would be enough to restore his energy.

He stared up at the ceiling, the patterns of the cracks forming shapes that seemed to dance in the dim light. It was in these quiet moments, under the watchful gaze of the moon and dressed in a casual white bathrobe after taking a night hot bath, that he found solace in the silence of the night.

If someone were to see him like this, they would think they were looking at a beautiful young lady than a boy.

Times like these made him think that it was great that Huo Yuhao wasn't around, as he could finally let his guard down and indulge in showing her true self.

Wang Dong'er raised her hand and blankly stared at her delicate fair hand, despite having went through a spar with Xaio Xiao, thanks to practicing with the Mysterious Jade Hand and hand seals her hands are tough and still looked good.

"...Should I get my nails done?" She muttered, tilting her head to the side as she pondered, her voice barely above a whisper in the quiet of the room. The notion of indulging in something as simple as a manicure seemed trivial compared to the weight of her responsibilities as a Soul Master. Yet, there was a part of her that longed for those small luxuries, those fleeting moments of femininity amidst the rigors of training and battle.

With a soft smile playing on her lips, Wang Dong'er traced her fingers lightly over her own cheek, the sensation sending a shiver of awareness down her spine. She turned to side and giggled, her eyes then wander towards her drawer.

A deep feeling of longing and excitement surged in her heart, and thought.

'I wonder what would Yuhao would think if he saw me dressed as a girl, revealing my true self to him.'

The thought brought a fierce blush to her face as she imagined the scenario playing out in her mind. The idea of revealing her true self to Huo Yuhao stirred a mixture of nerves and anticipation within her. Would he be surprised? Accepting? Or would he be... angry that she hadn't told him the true?

That moment of doubt immediately brought her back to reality and she paused, her heart fluttering with uncertainty. The bond between her and Huo Yuhao was strong, built on trust and shared experiences(and martial soul fusion). Yet, the fear of his reaction lingered in her mind like a shadow, casting doubt on her decision to reveal this hidden aspect of herself.

'But even if I want to, I'm not allowed to purposely reveal my true gender to anyone until I turn eighteen. It's only okay if they realized the truth on their own. The girls are already starting to suspect... but that's alright, through the many months we spent together we became. The only one I care and worry about is Yuhao.' Her right brow began to twitch and she glanced on the other bed, neatly tucked and empty, in annoyance.

"Dense idiot. Even though you have the sharpest eyes in the school and strength unmatched by every freshmen, you still haven't figured out my secret." She mumbled, wondering if it was because he wasn't a pervert that made him not peek through her clothes and everyone else's... or was it because he was simply oblivious?

Somehow that thought made her somewhat irritated.

"Hmph!" Harrumphing, she arose upright on her bed and turned towards the other in the room, eyeing the sole pillow on it. Without any hesitation, she jumped on Huo Yuhao's bed and made herself comfortable... not.

'This is... uncomfortable.' She thought, scowling, and shifted around, trying to find a comfortable position on Huo Yuhao's bed. She tried turning on either side, curling into a fetus position, and even attempting to lay flat on her back, but nothing seemed to alleviate the discomfort of being on Huo Yuhao's hard bed. It was just so unyielding compared to her own.

"How does he sleep like this?!"

She puffed up her cheeks, pouting, and sat up on the bed. She turned around and hugged the pillow, closing her eyes, Wang Dong'er took a deep breath. "...At least the pillow is soft." she mumbled, her eyes half-lidded and face slightly flustered.

She sniffed the pillow again, finding comfort in its familiar scent. As she buried her face into the softness, a sense of tranquility washed over her. Despite the discomfort of being on Huo Yuhao's bed, the warmth and familiarity of the pillow's scent eased her tension.

With a contented sigh, Wang Dong'er nestled deeper into the pillow, feeling herself slowly succumbing to the soothing embrace of sleep. In the quiet of the night, surrounded by moonlight and the gentle rustle of the curtains, she allowed herself to drift away, embracing the dreams that awaited her in the realm of slumber-

"...What are you doing?" A familiar voice sounded from the door.

"Huh?" Wang Dong'er snapped her eyes open, startled by the sudden interruption. She instantly sat upright and turned towards the door to find a somewhat familiar man, looking stunned.

"W-Who are you?!" She stammered, her heart racing with a mix of confusion and alarm. The man standing in the doorway had a striking resemblance to Huo Yuhao, yet there was something different about him that she couldn't quite place.

Nonetheless, she urged her soul power and ready to fight the strange man.

The man's brows furrowed in confusion as he took a step forward. "What do you mean, 'who'? Actually I should be the one to ask that. Who are you and what are you doing in my room?"

"Your room? Hold up, this is my roommate and I's room!"

"Huh? That doesn't make any sense! This is the male dorm building, you couldn't possibly be here!"

"I-" She paused, her mind racing as she tried to make sense of the situation. The man's words echoed in her mind, and slowly, realization dawned on her.

She wasn't wearing her disguise, and although this is her room and Huo Yuhao's, girls aren't allowed in the boy's dorm! If this guy called the staff members, she'd be kicked out and her secret would be exposed!

With a surge of panic, Wang Dong'er quickly scrambled for an explanation. "I-uh, I'm uh... how would you know this is your room?! Who are you anyway?" She stammered, trying to change the conversation.

The man narrowed his eyes, turning gold and red for a moment, and his face softened, his expression turning from confusion to recognition. "Wait... Wang Dong?" he uttered, his eyes widening in disbelief.

Wang Dong'er froze, her heart pounding in her chest. She recognized the voice and his change of eyes' color—it was Huo Yuhao, her roommate and closest friend. But how could he recognize her without her disguise?

"W-What, Yuhao? You're Yuhao?!" She exclaimed, her voice trembling with a mix of shock and disbelief. Tears glistened in her eyes, letting go of the pillow, she slowly stood up from the bed and hesitantly approached him.

Huo Yuhao rubbed the back of his head, understanding her hesitation, and nodded, "It's me. See my eyes?" he activated his Sharingan.

And that was enough for Wang Dong'er to know it was truly him. She threw herself into his arms, tears streaming down her face as relief flooded through her. "Yuhao, it's really you!" she exclaimed, clinging to him tightly.

Huo Yuhao hugged her back just as fiercely, lifting her off the ground, his own eyes half-lidded and a smile on his face. "Hey bud, I'm back."

"Hm." She sniffed, nodding into his chest, her voice muffled. "I missed you, you big idiot."

"I missed you too, Wang Dong," Huo Yuhao replied softly, running a comforting hand through her hair.

The atmosphere turned into a comfortable silence for a long while.

"So... you're a girl?"

Wang Dong'er tensed in Huo Yuhao's arms, her heart skipping a beat at his question. She pulled back slightly to meet his gaze, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Y-Yes," she admitted softly, unable to meet his eyes directly.

Huo Yuhao's expression softened, his eyes filled with understanding. "I see," he murmured, a small smile playing on his lips. "I should've seen this coming, you were acting too much of a sissy."

"Ah, excuse me?! I acted like a true guy!"

He raised an eyebrow at her. "Yeah, right. You know that guys aren't that clingy to their male friends, right? I really thought you were gay for me."

"Shut up!" Wang Dong'er blurted out, her cheeks flushing even deeper with embarrassment and she slapped his arm. "I was just being affectionate! It's not like that!"

Huo Yuhao chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Sure, sure. Whatever you say, Wang Dong."

She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "You're so annoying sometimes."

"But you love me anyway," he teased, poking her lightly in the side.

Wang Dong'er rolled her eyes, turning to the side, hiding the smile creeping onto her lips. "Shut up, idiot," she muttered playfully, though her heart felt lighter knowing that Huo Yuhao was back by her side. "Also, call me Dong'er. But only when we're alone!"

Huo Yuhao grinned, "Yeah, yeah. I got you, Dong'er." He chuckled and walked past her to put down his stuff.

Wang Dong'er tilted her head, crossing her hands behind her, and asked. "Okay, so... how you been for the last, eight to nine months? Were did you go? And, um..."

Huo Yuhao raised an eyebrow as he put his folded clothes into his drawer. "How did I get buff?"

"...Yes." She mumbled, a bit in a daze as she clenched her hands as she remembered that brief moment of feeling his muscles when they hugged, and how he easily lifted her off the ground like that.

That. Felt. Good.

"Hahaha. I love to tell you everything, but I have to go to teacher Zhou and ask about my entrance admission and all that."

Wang Dong'er nodded in understanding. "Okay. Can I come with you?"

Huo Yuhao paused and replied, "Dressed like that?"

Wang Dong'er blinked and looked down at her bathrobe, realizing she was still in her casual attire. "Oops, right. Let me change quickly."

She darted over to her wardrobe, quickly rummaging through her male school uniform to accompany Huo Yuhao to meet the teacher. As she took out her clothes, she turned towards him with a glare and said.

"You better not peek while I change!" She warned, her cheeks flushing slightly with embarrassment.

Huo Yuhao raised his hands in surrender, "Yeah, yeah. I'll be here, arranging my clothes and other stuff." He turned around from her and started arranging his stuff with an expressionless face.

Wang Dong'er couldn't help but roll her eyes at him as she quickly changed into her school uniform and used her secret disguise technique.
