Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: Killing the Thunderclap Ox King

As she approached, she could feel the oppressive aura emanating from the Thunderclap Ox King. Its powerful soul power pressure seemed to weigh down on her, but she shook off the feeling and focused on her objective.

She activated her first and third soul skills, causing sharp spikes to grow out of the ground and ensnare the Thunderclap Ox King while a six diameter net over it. The vines coiled around its entire body, restricting its movements and immobilizing it.

"C'mon!" Tang Ya let out a breath and raised her hands forward, forming a seal, her pin colored eyes started to emit a dark-red hue.

'I have to do this quick before the Thunderclap Ox King starts using all its strength.'

"Absorb!" Tang Ya cried out, as she unleashed her innate skill. A whirlwind of dark-red energy engulfed the Thunderclap Ox King, draining its soul power and transferring it to Tang Ya. As the energy flowed into her, she could feel her own soul power and vitality increasing, the oppressive aura surrounding her becoming more intense.

Peak rank 35... Rank 36... Peak Rank 36... Rank 37...

'This power... I like it!' Tang Ya smirked as she felt the surge of energy coursing through her veins and strengthen the absorption process.

"Moooo!" The Thunderclap Ox King, angered for being trapped and weakened by such a weak being, struggled against the ensnaring vines. Vibrant blue lightning gathered around its grand feathered wings and let out a thunderous wrathful roar that echoed through the field, crackles of electricity exploded and destroyed most of the vines that trapped it.

'Shit!' Tang Ya inwardly cursed when she saw the Thunderclap Ox King set its eyes on her. She knew that it wouldn't hold back anymore - it was ready to unleash its full power.

Thinking quickly, Tang Ya threw a couple smoke bombs into the ground and she started moving her hands into numerous seals just as the smoke covered the area.

The Thunderclap Ox King let out a snort, taking a deep breath, and let out a resounding blast of lightning from its mouth. The lightning coursed through the smoke, illuminating the area briefly with its bright blue glow. But to the Thunderclap Ox King's surprise, Tang Ya was nowhere to be found.

As the smoke slowly dissipated, the Thunderclap Ox King's eyes widened as it witnessed three Tang Ya's running towards him. Letting out a low growl, it spread its wings apart and with a emitting a powerful electrical energy, it began charging towards the copies of Tang Ya with extreme prejudice, when suddenly numerous knives and needles were launched towards the Thunderclap Ox King from multiple directions, aimed at its vulnerable spots.

Tang Ya reappeared behind a tree, her purple glowing eyes glinting with determination.

The Thunderclap Ox King let out a pained roar as the knives and needles struck its body, causing blood to streak through its fur. Despite being weakened, it refused to be defeated easily. With a surge of lightning energy around its wings, it released a shockwave that shattered the remaining vines and sent Tang Ya flying backward.

Gritting her teeth, Tang Ya picked herself up from the ground and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. The oppressive aura surrounding her had diminished slightly.

"Mooooo!"

There was sudden burst of wind and Tang Ya looked up to see the Thunderclap Ox King charging at her from the air, its eyes burning with fury. Bursts of lightning and thunder emitted from its body, spreading through the sky with a crackling boom.

Tang Ya tried to move, but an oppressive force weighed her down, making it difficult for her to evade the Thunderclap Ox King's attack. She clenched her fists and focused her soul power, trying to resist the pressure and gather enough strength to defend herself.

But just as the Thunderclap Ox King was about to strike, Tang Ya finally managed to move. Executing a series of handseals, her entire body exploded into smoke and a tree log replaced her.

The Thunderclap Ox King crashed into the tree log, its momentum causing it to break through the log and crash to the ground. The impact created a shockwave that shook the surrounding area, sending debris flying and causing the ground to crack.

Tang Ya took advantage of the Thunderclap Ox King's momentary confusion and reappeared behind it. With a determined expression, she took out a strange black device from her storage device that was 18 inches long, with mysterious symbols across its body and its handle, she pointed its double barrel at its head.

"Oh, she's going to use it?" Huo Yuhao mused, continuing to observe her with a smile on his face.

Huo Yuhao wanted to perfectly create Frostbane so he had to do some experiments first to achieve success, so he tried tinkering with hidden weapons and incorporate it with soul engineering.

Also, if Huo Yuhao really wanted to build Akatsuki from the foundation of Tang Sect, then he'd start by modifying its hidden weapons into something more powerful and unique for the members of the sect.

The results were incredible and Huo Yuhao felt annoyed at how stupid the predecessors of Tang Sect for being old-fashioned fools.

Tang Ya was the first to test out these new weapons.

The weapon in Tang Ya's hand was the upgraded version of the Godly Zhuge Crossbow. It was an incredible tool, especially for its exquisite mechanism and intricate inner working, but it was so underwhelming despite having an arrogant name. Huo Yuhao had gotten rid of its bulky build, having settled with a more compressed and sleek form, and reduced the original sixteen bolts into two for a more powerful killing power.

A combination between hidden weapons and soul tools. Huo Yuhao decided to renamed it, Godly Shotgun.

"Die!" Tang Ya then pulled the trigger.

*Bang*

"Mooooo!!" Blood splattered through the air as the shot hit the Thunderclap Ox King directly in the head. The massive beast let out a thunderous roar, a burst of deep blue lightning crackling around its body that as it convulsed in pain.

That burst of electrical discharge hit Tang Ya, blood sipped out of her orifices but she gritted her teeth and held onto its right wing with determination.

The impact of the shot was powerful enough to stagger the Thunderclap Ox King, causing it to lose balance and crash to the ground.

Tang Ya didn't waste any time. She quickly summoned her dark blue silver grass and bound the Thunderclap Ox King once again, immobilizing it. With a determined expression, she raised her hands and formed a seal, her dark-red eyes glowing brightly.

"I won't let you escape this time," she muttered.

She unleashed another whirlwind of dark-red energy, absorbing the remaining soul power of the Thunderclap Ox King. As the energy flowed into her, she could feel her own power increasing exponentially. The oppressive aura surrounding her grew even stronger, but she embraced it, using it to fuel her determination.

Peak rank 37... Rank 38... Peak rank 38... Tang Ya could feel the power surging through her veins, her soul power reaching unprecedented heights.

The Thunderclap Ox King roared in anger and struggled against the dark-blue silver grass, but it was futile. Tang Ya's absorption was too strong, and it could only watch helplessly as its soul power was drained away.

Finally, when Tang Ya reached peak rank 39, she released the Thunderclap Ox King from her grasp. The creature collapsed to the ground, defeated and dead. A black soul ring then began to form above its body.

Tang Ya stood over it, knees trembling and panting heavily but triumphant.

"I did it," she whispered, a sense of accomplishment flooding through her.

Huo Yuhao watched from the sidelines, a proud smile on his face. Tang Ya had proven herself, surpassing her own limits and defeating a powerful opponent.

'Yes, this is how to truly get stronger. Shrek Academy might be the prestigious institution for soul masters, but there's nothing like real combat experience to push someone to their limits and beyond,' he thought to himself, lightly touching the scar on his lips.

As Tang Ya caught her breath, Huo Yuhao stepped forward and offered her a hand. "Congratulations, Tang Ya. You did it. You not only defeated the Thunderclap Ox King, but you also pushed past your own limits and reached peak rank 39. You've grown so much."

Tang Ya took his hand and allowed him to help her up. She looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with pride and excitement. "Thank you, Yuhao. I couldn't have done it without your guidance and support. This victory feels incredible."

Huo Yuhao smiled warmly at her. "You earned it, Teacher Ya. You have a lot of potential, and I'm glad I could help you unlock it. But, this isn't over yet. You're just a bit of soul power off from rank 40. Hmm. Sit down and meditate for a while and stabilize your soul power, you could probably force your way into rank 40."

"Hm." Tang Ya obediently nodded and sat down.

Huo Yuhao looked over her for a while before turning around, "Well, that didn't take long."

The trees and bushes around them rustled, and Huo Yuhao smirked to see numerous soul beasts emerging from the forest. They were drawn to the intense battle and the abundant soul power that had been released.

"These soul beasts are all 8 - 9,000 years old and below, with the couple of ten thousand year ones." Huo Yuhao observed. "Although the Thunderclap Ox King dropped a soul bone, it's Teacher Ya's rightful reward. But you guys... you're free game."

Huo Yuhao walked towards the approaching soul beasts with a calm and confident demeanor. His left hand started to emit a blue glow, ice sprouting from his palm and quickly took on the form of a sword, Frostbane.

He held it up and released a freezing aura, causing the temperature in the surrounding area to drop rapidly, dark clouds covered the sky and snowflake started falling.

The soul beasts that were advancing towards him suddenly froze in their tracks, their bodies covered in a thin layer of frost. Huo Yuhao waved his hand, and countless ice spikes shot out from the ground, piercing through the frozen soul beasts and turning them into ice sculptures.

"Be honored," Huo Yuhao spoke with a calm yet powerful voice. "For today, you will be the first to witness the power of Frostbane."
