When Ling Yue left, Lan Xiaolin slowed the pace of her heart, though telling herself that she only got through the first wave of the attack that was coming her way.
When she finished shopping, she took a taxi back to one of her houses, the one in the mountains. Once inside, she immediately started setting up the house to fit the baby's needs. He was sleeping at the time she was in the supermarket but he woke up and started crying the moment they entered the house.
"Hush little baby don't say a word, momma's gonna buy you a mockingbird, and if that mockingbird don't sing, momma's gonna buy you a diamond ring.... ", she calmed him down and he slowly closed his eyes, drifting off into sleep. She looked at him with loving eyes, and decided that nothing could possibly separate the both of them. She placed him in the stroller that the kind lady had lent to her, and she slowly walk up the flight of stairs that led to the second floor.
This house wasn't as extravagant as her other houses, but it was certainly her favorite as it held the deepest memories she had from her parents. The off-white walls had writing all over them, and the closets were full of tiny dresses and dust. It has been 20 years since she visited the house, and the memories all came flooding back.
As the afternoon sunshine filled the curtains, she started cleaning the dust and dirt off of the furniture and walls.
Ten minutes into the job, Xincheng started crying, sending the motherly instincts in Xiaolin to come into play. Her aura turned her into the brightest, most caring a person could ever be. "Awww, baby. Don't cry baby. Mama's right here for you.
She feed him and burped him, and after another five minutes of comforting speech, Xincheng fell asleep.
"Let's get back to work now." She said.
