Chapter 5 - A Wealthy Man! Er..Demon.

Mattheo had almost been the victim of a heart attack from the joy that was circulating in his body. What appeared before his eyes was enough to make him think he was born just to witness this place and moment.

What lay before the door was a hall, stretching for what felt like a mile. On the sides of it were piles of gold coins dripping from the top of their mounds, which had been caused by the door opening. Inside the mounds were also many treasures such as enchanted swords, kingly crowns, and pendants of various types, but all high-quality. While Mattheo normally shouldn't have any use for the things like gold and crowns, they still served their purpose of being shiny and useful for magic trinkets. Mattheo was like a frugal dragon, he would take treasure at every chance he gets as long as it isn't at the expense of his well-being.

While Mattheo normally shouldn't..have...any....use.....Mattheo quickly leaped into the pile of gold and began swimming. The force applied by his werewolf limbs was enough to push everything aside as he went up and down the hall as if it were an Olympic swimming pool.

Shortly after he composed himself, he took out the magic bag, and began storing as much as he could. The bag Mattheo held was special. It was made by demons and "blessed" by their god, and so its capacity was conveniently just larger than the hall he was in. When it came to raw power, dark gods beat the light gods, and so such items were most never in the hands of anyone other than a demon. Unless that demon died, then it was the same matter as the armor.

Having packed everything of worth, he continued to the armor stands which stood at the end of the hall. Immediately, it was obvious that these were what this hall protected. On the armor stands stood jet black obsidian armor, the value of one set was already double the entire hall's wealth alone. Wanting to make sure that one of them wasn't cursed, Observer was activated.

----------------------------------

Set 1

This set has the ability to nullify magical energy. To a magic user this would be fatal, but to a warrior it is one of the best options available.

Set 2

This set's focus is on the nullification of physical attacks. It is able to absorb any fatal impacts entirely.

Set 3

This final set is dedicated to greatly heightening one's agility. This armor seems to have been crafted in regards to sturdier demons as impacts at such a speed could prove fatal to both parties.

-------------------------------

Mattheo pondered. Set 1 was definitely out. Mattheo's entire life had been dedicated to the route of the arcane, whether he was evil or not made no difference on that front. Set 3 was also impossible, as a fiend he had no chance of wearing armor tailored to a Lord class demon. On the other hand, the 2nd Set was perfect compared to the others, there was virtually no requirements to wearing it, as tempting as the other two were, this was his decision.

After equipping the 2nd set, he vowed to give it a proper name. But time was short, he threw the third set into the magic bag, and then the 1st set into a common bag he found while scrounging the upper temple. With this, he ran upwards and out of the temple.

Along the way he consumed abyssal energy from some of the trinkets holding them. They were dark vials with a similarly dark liquid inside that made one think they would die from tasting some of it. Gulping the vials while climbing, he felt his limbs bulge. Since demons aren't completely physical, bones and flesh don't have to distort painfully for transformations. Instead, the places where change took place went somewhat numb. Once at the top, the temple appeared somewhat cramped.

Now outside, Mattheo a faint connection. Exactly what he was waiting for! Demons of a certain class have a specified level of magic density that attracts them. By this attraction, wild demons could reach the exit of the Abyss as steadily as a migrating bird heads north or south.

His wealth and survival were now more or less secured. Mattheo did not want to risk checking his items in the main world. Who knew what would happen? For all he knows a battalion of demi-gods is waiting on the other side to pound him into the ground. He would never risk such a thing.

Looking at his bag, Mattheo grinned. It looked odd on his werewolf form, but nobody was watching so nobody cared. The way magic bags worked was simple, if you wanted something from it, then you needed to imagine what you want to have pulled out. If this isn't done, a random item from the bag will come out instead.

Mattheo put his hand in imagining the plethora of vials he had "purchased". The vials that camevout were almost enough to make him forgive that temple's god for tricking him. ALMOST, OK?? Mattheo basked in his own benevolence as he pardoned the certainly stronger god. With all the vials back in the bag, Mattheo's journey to the gate of the Abyss began.

Mattheo carefully followed the connection between him and the gate. Along the way, he was attacked by many demons all of which were weaker than him. He even ran into a few blood bunnies, they weren't very nice despite their red eyes, pink fur...and sharp claws. Though the journey was a little rough, all the encounters were worth it. Although despising the demonic cannibalism, he couldn't help partaking in it. "So what if it's raw meat? I'm starving!" What with having already eaten and drunk the Abyssal energy which was mostly liquid, he planned on sleeping by the gate of the Abyss. Where the gate was concerned, unintelligent demons were like moths to a flame. It would be the safest he's ever been since he was reincarnated. Plus, with how desolate the Abyss was in the first place, he most likely wouldn't even see another demon before he left.

Having secured the magic bag in a safe spot, he dozed off...
