The sky was pitch black by the time she reached the apartment building's entrance; tiny fragments of snow were falling too.
Song Yu rubbed her cold, reddened hands and entered the building.
It was an old building and there were no elevators, so she took the stairs two at a time. Upon reaching the fourth floor, she looked up and saw Qi Chengzhi leaning on her house door. He was scrolling through his phone and she had no idea what he was looking at.
Qi Changzhi turned his head and looked on quietly while she was halfway up the flight of stairs - he must have heard her footsteps.
Song Yu's heart skipped a beat. Qi Chengzhi stood there silently; his gaze was indifferent and he seemed neither worried nor impatient. The phrase 'taking things easy makes life smooth sailing' surfaced inexplicably within her mind.
With her head lowered, she walked up the last few flights of stairs silently and noticed a pile of cigarette butts beside his feet.
