Chapter 66 - Campus Tours are the Worst

The campus was not at all what she had expected.

When she stepped off the train, she was expecting a sleek modern building with all the latest technologies. Instead, she was hit with the sight of a prep school.

Its walls were made of light brown bricks, the windows were framed with white ones, the layered shingles on the roof were an ashy gray colour. The school looked like a castle for goodness sakes! It reminded her of the Duke's palace in England.

"How is it? Do you like it? I, for one, say that the design team did a splendid job making this."

Walking over from their right was Sid Anderson dressed in the same pink suit as four hours ago.

"Did you all have a nice ride on the train?"

They answer "yes," in unison.

"That's great to hear. Now, would you preferred if I showed you around the school first, or would you like to drop off your bags at your Team's House?"

Yaorui took a long glance at her teammates and motioned to her brother to inform the man of the decision.

"We'll drop off our things first,"

"Alrighty, right this way."

Sid Anderson led them on a 10-minute walk across school grounds. Eventually, they reached a white-gray brick building with dark red banners hanging nest to the doors. On top of the highest part of the building was their country's flag waving proudly down at them.

"Welcome to your Team's house! As you may already be able to tell, your team colour is a dark blue, specifically, Space Blue. Space Blue must make up the majority of your outfit to prevent confusion for both the teachers and the students,"

Yaorui glanced over to the design team and saw that their eyes were already sparkling as they began creating designs in their heads. Their hands were visibly twitching towards their pencils and pens.

The building wasn't too big, nor was it too small, the spacing and decorating were done expertly. The house was split into three parts, in the east wing was eight rooms, seven of which contained three beds and the last one, two.

The west wing was the one meant for the boys and had a total of nine bedrooms. In each room were three beds.

There were two floors to each wing, the bedrooms and bathrooms were on the second and the recreation room on the first.

Two staircases, one on each side of the room, connected the first floor to the second.

At the top of the staircases stood eight bookshelves, each was doors leading into their rooms. The shelves were currently empty, Sid Anderson explained that the bookshelves were theirs to fill.

Not a moment after Sid Anderson left them to unpack and check on the boys, they ran around checking our every room and picking their favourite.

In the end, she ended up in the two-person bedroom with Precious, the fourth-year leader. Together they picked their own beds and filled their door with their favourite books.

The dorms had a bit of a Victorian feel, the walls had floral wallpaper on it, which a few of the students had planned to scrape off and paint their own thing on it. All of the wooden features were made with dark oak. Drapes hung from the center of the roof and swooped over to be pinned on the walls.

When they finished unpacking their personal belongings, they moved on to find their favourite spot in the recreation room while they waited for the other girls to finish.

Over that course of time, not one of them spoke a word to each other.

Once everyone was gathered up, the group of 23 girls moved towards the center wing.

The center wing housed the kitchen, a dining room, and a living room. According to Sid Anderson, breakfast was to be served in the main building every day, including weekends.

"Now that everyone is settled, time to hand over all of your electronics,"

The outcome was already expected due to a leak of information (Aishi). And so their items were stacked onto the coffee table with little complaint.

"That...was unexpected...?"

"What? Did you think we were pushovers, huh!?" One of the fourth-years had decided to play with the man a bit.

"N-no, ah here are your smartwatches and the contact lenses, if you wish, glasses are an option as well,"

Yaorui gathered around the table along with everyone else to grab the items. The glasses came in a variety of shapes, but the colour was limited to gold, blue, and black. She went for a pair of thin black wire glasses, you could never go wrong with black. For contacts, she went with the regular transparent lenses.

"Those taking the contact lenses, please be sure to take the tweezers as well, they are to help put and get out the lenses,"

She looked to her left and picked one up.

Yaorui placed the glasses on her nose and slipped the contacts and tweezer into her pocket. Next, she went to grab a watch, the watches were all of the same colours, but had different designs on them and were made with different materials.

After analyzing her choices, she reached for a geometric watch with gold add ons.

"Everyone has their items?"

"Yes!"

"Great, now let's go on a tour of the school!"

Her friends linked elbows with her, and they were on their way to a new beginning.

"Just a reminder, dinner will be held in the school today,"

"Hey, do you guys think that there will be any cute foreign boys for me? I heard mixed babies have great faces," Her cousin excitedly asked.

"I'm curious as well," Gebao butted in with a slightly dreamy face.

"Well, with your genes, your babies will turn out cute no matter what," Zhangmin snorted and gave a light shove.

"Jiexu! What do you think?"

"I think that I will beat up any boy that comes near you,"

"Yah! How will we have babies if you're in jail?"

"Angli will bail me out,"

"Your guy's PDA is too bright," Yaorui pouted her lips and scoffed at the same time.

"You have no right saying that!" Sheng Rong but in. "Your PDA levels with Angli are off the charts,"

"We're just friends,"

"You hear that? Those words are the exact ones people say in dramas! And you know what happens in the end?"

"They get married!" Zhangmin clapped her hands with a proud smile on her face.

All the while, three men had shining smiles on their faces.

"ShiShi~~~? Isn't that what you used to say about us?"

Wenshi delivered a light blow to the back of Long Ao's head before spitting out two words, "Shut up!"

"Sheng' er~~~~,"

"Shut your pie hole NuNu,"

"I'm not even annoyed by that name now that I know we'll get married,"

"We. Are. Just. Friends!"

"Don't deny it, darling,"

"Hu Angli! Why aren't you saying anything, huh?"

"I don't need to, isn't that right, wifiu?" The new title earned him an embarrassed jab in the guts.

"Oooooooo,"

"He's just joking," With that, she unhooked her arms and playfully stomped off.

"Wait for us!"

As she turned, out of the corner of her eyes, she spotted a familiar glow. Yaorui bent down next to the bushes and begun to dig.

"What are you doing?" Her friends crouched down next to her and assisted her dirty hands.

"Woah," They dug until they uncovered a large glowing blue rock.

Apart from the size, it looked exactly like the one she found that morning in the meadow.

. . . .

Flashback

"You ready to go?"

Out of the corner of her eye, she spots a bright, bold blue shine. Curious, she dug into the Earth and uncovered a glass container carrying a sort of blue rock.

"Huh," she stuffed it into her pocket and crossed to the distance to Angli.

. . . .

"I'll see if one of the boys have big enough pockets to fit this in,"

"Of course they will, Long Ao managed to fit an extra pair of flats in his pockets in my size, later, he stuffed my seven-inch heels in them too,"

"How?" Zhangmin looked at her in disbelief.

"Don't ask me, ask the designers who made his pants!"

"Not that, how did you manage to walk in seven-inch heels?!"

"I-I don't know that either,"

"Come on, let's not lag behind too much." She pulled her friends along in an attempt to distract herself from the pulsing rock in her pocket.

While her friends chatted at her side, she observed her surroundings. The landscape was expertly done, there wasn't a single grass out of place. The flowers were vibrant, and insects weren't seen either.

The pathways were made of cobblestones, black lamposts lined the edges of the greenery. Whenever they reached an intersection, there was a map that was easy to understand and gave directions. That was how she found that the American and Japanese teams were closest to their team house.

When they arrived on the main campus, they learned that there was a total of 14 buildings.

There was the arena in the far back, this building contained all the field sports as well as military-related things. The centermost was the library, surrounding that was four other buildings, the pool, the dining room and kitchen, the rink, and then the surprise building.

The next four were the largest, one was for anything related to the arts, then things related to healthcare and crime, there was the building for those in the technology field including engineering and some other sciences, last of all was the academics building, the building that most of her classes should be in. In between each of those four were greenhouses meant for both education and relaxation, each greenhouse had its own unique ecosystem and inhabitants.

Sid Anderson led them on a thorough tour of all 14 buildings, both giving them a glimpse of their future lives and destroying their legs at the same time. Even her best friend Angli was limping slightly from the extensive tour.

"Well, that wraps everything up," they all gave a sigh of relief, a few of them were sweating as well.

"If I had known we'd be sweating, I would have chosen the tour first,"

"Oh please, you smell like flowers when you sweat!"

"What do you mean! You two barely sweated at all! Look! My bangs are plastered to my forehead.

"Do you guys remember when we came across that other group we saw? They had sweat all the way down their backs!"

"The tour was hard, but it wasn't that hard, maybe they trained before the tour,"

"No, foreigners just tend to sweat more around their upper torso more than we do, it's a genetic thing or an adaptation,"

"Ooo, look at this genius, you will make a great doctor,"

The first years are really something, Yaorui sighed and redirected her attention to Sid Anderson.

"You will all have two weeks before classes officially begin and three days before your schedules are released, remember the system did not have a glitch," They were all too tired or busy massaging their legs to bother with his last words.

"Now," He clapped his hands together, "Who is ready for some dinner?"

More walking?!

Campus tours really aren't fun!

Even so, Yaorui lifted her legs and trudged along behind the demon named Sid Anderson.
