And after a few hours of cussing and swearing, I managed to obtain the remaining 15 festhers. My body hurts due to the fatigue it caused for obtaining this worthless feathers. I really hate these monsters, they yield poor rewards, they also yield small experience which is trully not worth to earn. I rested for a while and since I have nothing to do, I decided to look at the leaderboards. Harmless Sparrow managed to reach the threshold of Level 8 at last while the others seems stucked on level 6.
I guess she is quite capable indeed. However, it is not enough for me to interact with her. I have no intention partying with anyone. They are just burden.
The mana regeneration technique proves really useful and I don't need to wait for a long time or in need to drink Mana restoration potion to restore a bit of my Mana. My Mana regenerates faster than it is drained which have risen to 100 MP per second. I can keep on spamming my skills without worrying about Mana shortage. This will be the best part to beat those Green Spiders.
I quickly sped through the lonely plains. The habitat of Green Spiders are in the Graio Swamps which is a few kilometers from the Scorching Lands. The game really have to work you out on this since it is a bit far and you have to make some frequent stops on the road to recover your stamina.
Usually in the online games, whenever a player runs or sprints, their is a bar of stamina slowly depleting and the character will walk instead of running after emptying the bar, allowing the stamina bar to increase again. In Alternate World, that system is scratched out and renewed. You need to rest to recover stamina or you can't recover a single sh*t despite walking. In my opinion, this system helps me in getting real endurance. The body seems to be affecting for real just like in the gym and your real body seems to adapt.
After running and resting for quite a lot of times, I managed to arrive at last to Graio Swamp.
"Player discovers a new location: Graio Swamp"
This place is not really a swamp. I can't say for sure but it is identical to rainforests for me. Its not even identical to the swamps where there are murky areas and creatures who live in there dwells. I did not waste my time thinking about it and move towards the center of the Graio Swamp. The center is their habitat and most of the creatures that live in the Graio Swamp do not even try to get close to the area. Green Spiders are all hostile to all creatures and anything that is in its aggro area even their own species are not safe. The game made it realistic that the monsters here has a predatory system like in the biology. Green Spiders slowly appeared on my sights as I entered the center of the Swamp.
Green Spider
Level 11
HP: 1000/1000
Attribute: Poison
This is the first creature that holds the poison attribute. These attribute are really horrifying. Poisons here is too hard to neutralize and they don't disappear like most games do. Once you are in that state, it will stay until you die which is very terrifying for players unless you got a treatment. Players who have thought that everything is the same like in other games and thought poison will heal eventually reached to the point of realization that the poison is considered to be something that cannot be healed by itself on this game unless you drink some potion or got healed by a cleric. I also got victimized by that thought too and I never expected it to be a huge toll, and if I didn't brought a poison potion in my arsenal that time, I might have lost a lot that time. Now, I won't repeat that mistake. That is why I spend most of my money buying poison potion. It is due to this point.
I pull out the Versatile Weapon and brandish it out to the enemies. I decided to use the Katana this time. Katanas might be inferior to Axes, Spear, Hammer and Short swords but they are quite lethal and cannot be underestimated. Katanas is a long melee weapon and despite it's weak damage, it was built to deal continuous damage debuff like bleeding and slash wounds which are very lethal especially if stacked. Katanas are also much better on shortswords in terms of DPS. Samurai classes are one of the highest DPS dealers in the game, third against Ninja and Assassins.
The reason I choose the Katana is due to the debuff, slash wounds. It is a new debuff in the game, which deals in dismembering parts of the enemies. The game consists brutality as players can experience their bodies from sliced or having a dismembered limb. Slash Wounds are much more lethal than bleeding as its damage is twice bigger than the bleeding debuff. Most of the time, Samurais are the most popular class that can inflict Slash Wounds. As I held the weapon, it seems to be weightless. Might be due to the reason of the Versatile Weapon weight stat which is labeled N/A in the system.
I look at the nearest of me and within the blink of an eye, I dashed forward by activating Silent Sprint. The Green Spider immediately spewed out a sticky web towards me.
"Basic Fireball!"
Flames flew out of my palm, hitting the incoming web to me, burning it to crisp. Looks like dual class wielding is quite good! I quickly slashed through the legs of the Green Spider and since my speed is quite fast, the reaction time of the Green Spider is too slow, dismembering the three legs on its left side, causing green blood to spurt out of the wound. The way it was shown was quite realistic. No censors to stop it or anything that will help it cover the gruesome Slash Wounds.
"Successful inflicting Slash Wounds to the target. Target will lose 100HP per second. Weapon Proficiency leveled up to Trainee."
Its quite amazing. A single Slash Wound can cause 100 HP reduction per second, which is only 25 HP per second and will heal eventually after 5 seconds unlike Slash Wound which will last as long as the inflicted target has no ability to regenerate their limbs.
Since I dismembered three of its legs, the Green Spider is having a hard time moving and seeing me, it quickly spewed out a green liquid. It is quite fast but I evaded in advance, allowing me to escape it. That is the Corrosive Poison. It inflicts 100% poison and has a 30% chance of triggering Corrosion. Corrosion is too bothersome as they slowly dwindle the durability of the armor or weapon that got hit by it. That is why I didn't bother blocking it. Blacksmith repair fees are too expensive and Whetstones are also freaking expensive too, making the recovery of durability to the weapons and armors to take a downhill a lot.
The Green Spider did not hold before it died. Leaving me with a loot. Two Green Spider Fang and an equipment.
"Green Gloves"
Def: 21
Rarity: Normal
Equippable in Level 10
Description: Gloves meant to be used for camouflage in the forest. However, the vibrant color green made it more noticeable.
I see, a Green Glove. It was usually dropped by Green Spiders and most of the time, they are only normal ones. Its a bit ugly to wear but due to its high defense it felt okay. I also got 2 of the target items. The reason it dropped two is due to the fact that it usually drop 2 unless one was dismembered accidentally.
I quickly searched for the rest of the Spiders. Since it usually drops 2 fangs, its quite easy now for me. I don't need to be afraid of dying. Not long before I killed the first one, I saw another one. Its currently eating a Swamp Fly, a creature that appears in this area. Before it can notice me, I dashed forward and repeated the attack. However, it did not trigger the Slash Wound since the Green Spider guarded using its carapace which its main defense. It quickly spewed out a green liquid and I failed to dodge it this time.
"You are inflicted with Poison! You will lose 10 HP per second!"
"You are inflicted with Corrosion! You will lose 10 Durability for 5 seconds!"
"Sh*t!" I muttered. I pulled out my Poison Potion and drank the contents. Its bitter and sour, in other words, awful. But I recovered and no longer suffered from Poison debuff.
The main crap I hated is the fact that I was inflicted with Corrosion. My armor was hit and my defense reduced greatly. I gritted my teeth before slashing once more against the Green Spider, slicing it in half. I sighed in relief. This guys cannot be underestimated. They can inflict this crap easily. I cannot let my guard down.
I hunted a few of the Green Spiders for a while and I managed to get 23 Green Spider Fang. I still need 7 pieces though. I also lost a lot of Poison Potion which is a big lose for me. As I was searching, a notification appeared.
"You found the Lair of the Green Spider Queen. Do you want to enter?"
Sh*t. I forgot about this. The Lair of the Green Spider Queen is known as the habitat of the Area Boss. Green Spider Queen is a bit harder to beat than the Gate Guardian. I totally forgot about it since I am more focused on earning the Green Spider Fangs.
Green Spider Queen is the queen of the Spiders that are living here and are capable of commanding a whole army of Green Spiders. This boss is hard to deal when you are not in a party and you also don't possess any Poison Resistance effect or Poison Immunity. I raided this place before and I am having a hard time surviving. Luckily, I was in a party that time so I didn't end up dead that time. However, we used too much time beating it up. It has four HP bars on its head and it is pretty menacing to look at.
But even though it was too menacing, the awards are lucrative. This one drops 10 Green Spider Fangs which is equivalent fighting 5 Green Spiders. It also drop the Poison Resistance Rune. An item that helps you awaken your poison resistance without keeping on getting poisoned. It also drop a good Armor which will be a good replacement to my Beginner Armor. I checked my inventory and I still have 5 bottles of Poison Potion. This is barely enough but I guess it will do.
I eliminated most of the Green Spiders around so I won't be troubled once the Green Spider Queen uses her skill, "Call the Guards". This skill calls the surrounding Green Spiders to do the bidding of the Queen which is annoying if you didn't slay the Green Spiders near its vicinity.
As I entered the Lair, the towering boss is already in front of me.
Green Spider Queen
Level 15
HP: 1,000,000/1,000,000
Attribute: Poison
Area Boss
I can't miss this chance to gain the first kill on this monster. First kills has a good reward awaiting which will be a good way to make a good chance of fame to me. Besides, I will be earning tons of Exp on this which will be beneficial for me for clearing the first dungeon.
However, killing this requires strategy and I am only 50% confident that I can kill this one. Green Spider Queen is quite fast and can kill anyone without giving too much fight at all. Its a boss after all. But since I am already a team myself, I will just utilize all of my abilities. Since I gained a few SP after mastering a few of the weapons and from leveling up, I better learn the Paladin's Healing Heart skill, Sanctuary of the Sick, and the Clerics' Divine Healing. I won't last if I face against this without these skills. I can't make myself die just like that again.
The Green Spider Queen is a massive and towering creature. Despite its big body, it can move easily without trouble and has a swift attack patterns. I already knew its attack pattern but this isn't easy. Killing this boss right now is like punching a titanium steel door to make a hole in it. This boss will unleash different attacks which are all hard to follow and its habits of unleashing an AOE skills after a Bar of health is drained. My task of opening the Dungeon is getting hard. This one will surely going to take a bit of my time.
