Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The world of Areton is beautiful. With Mountains taller than the deepest know oceans. Oceans big the sky. There are trees which could fit a village. This world was sculpted to perfection. Or at least it seemed.

On this world, there were humans who built empires in days and then other humans who would destroy them. It was a perfect balance. For one destroyed a new one arose. All was fine. The human population was steadily increasing. As the population increased the resources did not. So, some brave Humans planned to leave the known world of Areton to explore the Lost Sea. It was called so for when one went out they were never seen again. The sea was so large that they say even 30 days of travel would still not be enough to cross it. For the greater good of the Human Race, the need for the exploration of this great body of water was necessary.

It began with great loss and failure. The small boats they had were crushed by the waves. Many lives were lost and the plan to explore the lost sea was abandoned. Great Wars have begun over resources and resourceful lands. Empires would fall and new ones no longer rose. The resources were nearly gone, the land was becoming unfertile, people began dying of starvation. All this lead to the First Age. The Age of Loss. The horrors within this Age frightened even the bravest, but all was not lost.

The few remaining three Empires saw the struggles and the soon to be the downfall of their race and put down their own gains for the greater good of all. These three great empires were known as Glanton, Melantois, and Frenth. Between the three their population was close to 50 million which was close to 50% of the remaining human population. Using their armies they forced weaker nations to join their Alliance which was named Aretonions. Eventually, all of the known world was conquered by these three and they began new efforts to sustain their people. They created new ways to farm, hunt, fish, and it worked. The human population began to stabilize and all seemed well. This remained for the next hundred years which was named The Fertile Age as the land provided for the humans.

The human race finally began growing once again in power, and this time they decided to learn from their mistakes and began focusing on exploring the Lost Sea as they knew they would have to cross it someday. They began to attempt to build great ships which could withstand the power of the waves. It was a slow process but they were progressing to successes slowly. Eventually, they had succeeded and built ships capable of flotation and strong enough to not break under the force of the waves.

Thus began a new age, the Age of Exploration as this was when they began exploring the Lost Sea. The number of ships setting sail to the Lost Sea was in the thousands, but the ones returning could be counted on a single hand. Ships were disappearing and many lives were lost, but the Human Race pushed on without giving up, for giving up would eventually lead them back to the Age of Loss which they feared more than death itself.

After numerous years a ray of hope appeared. A ship which was lead by a man names Garloth returned claiming they have found new land. The whole known world was in shock. The amount setting sail into the Lost Sea grew from thousands to millions. They followed Garloth and managed to arrive and land at the new land. This land was called Garal in honor of Garloth the Explorer.

The distance between Areton and Garal was so far that it took 7 months by ship to cross from one to another. While many managed to arrive at Garal by the maps made by brave explorers, many died and lost their lives at sea. The Human Race mourned for the ones lost to find this new land and began settling the island. They build small villages at first but eventually they too grew so large they turn into cities, then nations, and eventually the first Empire called Garlton which was lead by King Garloth who found this new land. All was going well until the attacks began.

It was rare at first but the attack rate began growing. Cities which were there one day would be gone another day, burned to the ground. Sometimes frozen in places where it does not snow. The people began to fear. They prayed to their Gods to stop punishing them as who else besides Gods could do this. Unfortunately, their prayers had no answers. Cities kept perishing and many kept dying. Eventually, it became so severe that King Garloth built an army so large it shook the Earth when they marched. He made the army patrol the lands, they killed all dangerous animals near them, and the attacks stopped for a while.

After a year of peace with no attacks, the people began forgetting the threat and the army grew lazy. Many would leave and become farmers instead and live peaceful lives. All seemed well. King Garloth was seen as a Hero and became a Legend to all. He grew his empire and all loved him. It was Spring when the attacks began again, this time they were quicker, deadlier, and much more frightening. Hundreds of cities all burned to the ground in one day. The Empire was in chaos, people ran to the capital to get help from King Garloth but when they arrived, the capital was burning. The great King Garloth was dead. The buildings fallen, the army lost, and all that was there was a giant creature as big as a house breathing flames as it flew in the skies with wings wide and long. The people fled in fear, word eventually spread to Areton and they also feared this new threat. They named this creature Dragon and it was a taboo to say it as if one came, all would die.

Most of the humans fled back to Areton but some were not as lucky. The dragons destroyed their ships and they were stuck here with these creatures having to fight them to survive. They created many new weapons such as a crossbow which was strong enough to pierce a dragon's skin and kill them. The first person to kill a dragon was named Falron. He managed to shoot a Dragon right in his eye and the bolt from the crossbow went in so deep it pierced his brain and the dragon fell dead. The people feasted that day and had dragon meat as food. Knowing these creatures were killable many were taught how to kill them. They were soon able to protect themselves from these Dragons and built villages to call homes. The war between Dragons and Humans had officially begun. Humans began capturing young dragons and teaching their young how to kill them. They discovered ways to weaken them, they would cover their bolts for the crossbow in poison made from herbs which made the dragons sleepy and would be able to kill them easier. Due to this type of lifestyle, the Humans living on Garal were much stronger than those on Areton. The different villages had chiefs who would be in charge. They kept the tales of how they came to be and told them to the young so their history would never die. Their hatred for Dragons was so strong that they would sometimes even torture them before killing.

After many years of this lifestyle, people began naming the different type of Dragons and putting them in different classes depending on how dangerous they were. The classes ranged from SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, and F. Dragons in the class SSS were seen as extremely dangerous and were capable of wiping out whole villages easily. They were also often told to be called Alphas as other dragons would follow their command. Thankfully those were extremely rare and few of those were around and they never attacked villages. The Dragons in class F were seen as weak and were often used to train the young on how to kill Dragons.

After they learned how to fight the Dragons they villages built new ships and sailed the Lost Sea. Many new lands were found around Garal and villages also were built there. Unfortunately, even after many years of exploration and the finding of many new islands they never found were the Dragons originated from. There was no end to them and although there were many more Humans then Dragons, A Dragon was more often than not as strong as 10 humans and would take many more than that to be killed.

As they saw no way to end the Dragons all at once the Humans accepted them and they kept killing them, the war with Dragons is eternal they would tell their young and then they would say, but we will win for all eternity.
