Tonie heard a soft knocking on her door which snapped her back from her thoughts.
"who is it?" She asked while quickly wiping the tears on her face.
"It's me, can i come in?" Claire answered. Obviously sounding worried.
"yeah! just a sec let me just clean up my room real quick" Tonie yelled.
She needed to compose herself first. She can't let her bestfriend see her like this besides, she really need to clean her room badly. Truth is her room is really messy because she was anxious about her relationship with Tim for days. Her dirty and clean clothes are mixed up on a chair and her footwear are all over the place. She quickly throw all her dirty clothes in the laundry basket, kick her footwear under her bed and she sweep the floor a bit. She did a quick survey in her room and when she thought her room looks passable, she opened the door.
"What is wrong with you? Don't lie to me, tell me the truth. You've been out of it for days! It's weird that you don't join the festivities outside. wait! Is it because of Tim?" Claire blurted.
"Yeah. We broke up. over the phone." Tonie answered nonchalantly.
"Wait, what? You and Tim broke up? why? I can't believe this! I thought you guys get along too well? This is such a shock and on top of that, you guys broke up over the phone? This is crazy, you guys are crazy. wait, I'm not making any sense anymore." Claire blurted out frantically.
"woah, hold up girl, hold up! Can you ask your questions one at a time. You are overwhelming me." answered Tonie.
"Fine, first answer me, why did you guys broke up? what is the reason? Is there a third party? ugh! the nerve of that guy! I never thought he will do this to you ever! He strike me as a nice guy." Claire said while gnashing her teeth.
It's eminent that she's really upset for her friend. Tonie is deeply touched by her friend's reaction. She really cares for me a lot, she thought.
"earth to Tonie, earth to Tonie. Hey! I'm itching for an answer already. girl! snap out if it!" claire said while shaking her shoulders.
" Oh sorry. I was just touched by your concern for me girlfriend. I love you so much! Why would I need guys when I have you?" Tonie said affectionately.
"It's only natural girl! we are sisters for life remember? and eww! I don't swing that way girlfriend! Hey you are such a master manipulator, do not swerve away from our topic. answer my questions already" Claire probed.
Tonie chuckled. She can't really fool this sister of hers. All right. I'll just come clean with her. I trust her and she would never betray me right? She thought to herself. She proceeded to tell her everything that transpired throughout the call and the moments leading up to it. Claire was listening attentively and kept frowning every now and then. When the story ended, Claire can't keep it to herself and blurted
"Maybe Tim has another woman that's why he got rid of you! He doesn't even gave you a proper closure! I swear I will skin Tim Carlos alive when I see him in the future." Claire said angrily.
"I don't think that there is a third party. Maybe he just ran out of love for me. I mean maybe he can't see any sparks in our relationship anymore. No need to get angry at him sis, it's not worth it. I just hope that he's now happy." Tonie said with a tinge of sadness in her eyes but Claire didn't see it because it was just brief.
Tonie is determined to move forward and leave everything behind. She doesn't care, or rather she's already numb to the pain. She has more important things to settle in her family than her foolish love life.
" Bull- freaking- sh*t! What spark? if he wanted to see a spark so badly, he should light a match stick and he will see one for sure. That's so freaking lame sis! Do not cover for him sis. You are just really good that's why people often take advantage of you. Wake up Antoinette Morales, do not be blindly good to others. You need to be careful of people who approach you. I knew that guy's too good to be true! turns out he's just another jerk." declared defiantly.
"calm down sis, your heart!" Tonie said jokingly
"this is not a time to laugh it off Tonie! you seriously need to be cautious of people from now onwards" lectured Claire.
"Yes, yes I will follow the wise words of Claire Bernardo. Do not worry about me. I'm seriously fine. I won't get depressed over it. I won't relapse I promise you. I have a lot of more important things to do and I'll be preoccupied and won't have the luxury to wallow in misery" Tonie said seriously while looking straight to Claires eyes.
"That's good to hear girlfriend but if you need me, I'm just literally a few walks away from you okay? I'll go now that I feel relieved" Claire said and hugged Tonie.
"Thank you Claire" Tonie whispered to claire whilst hugging.
Claire left the room after saying goodbye. I really am lucky to have a Claire as my bestfriend Tonie thought. In her eyes, Claire is her super hero. She's cool like wonder woman. She had been overprotective of Tonie ever since they were kids. However unbeknownst to Tonie when Claire closed Tonie's door, she smirked sinisterly and uttered.
"She really is an idiot!" Claire said cryptically.
If Tonie see this version of Claire, she will be shocked beyond belief. This sinister woman is a far cry from her angelic childhood friend.
