Chapter 1 - Prologue

BOOK 1: JUST BEGINNING

November 11th of year 2555, the planet Earth looked desolate like a wasteland. People of yesteryears' irresponsibility led to the wrath of nature of this day. Sickness became common and people dying on the streets are seen almost everyday. The life span of human beings keep getting shorter. Forty five years of age is the oldest age in recent days. Compared to 2019 of yesteryears, when people can still reach ninety years old, the immensity is like Heaven and Earth.

It started in the 2300s, when the third world war began. Bombs rained down from the sky. Filling the lands with mutilated corpses. Where "Humans" became the sinners of the world. After destroying massive areas of land, piling up countless corpses, blood forming rivers and seas. The war ended and people was welcomed with the sight of desolation. The sound of women and children crying. Despair written on their faces. The once beautiful planet, now covered in dust and smoke. Even the sky seemed to be torn apart from every blast of nuclear bombs.

Humans were filled with regret. They wished that the time will come when humanity will be able to reach at least the age of eighty again. The time where peace reigned over the world. Their eyes longing for hope, a miracle to happen.

Then a genius Mechanical Engineer from the Philippines declares to have created a perfect game, a perfect other world. A life in another world, a life inside a game and he calls it "God's Last Hope". Everybody became excited by the news. The fires of hope re-igniting in their very soul.

...

Engr. Razzel is in his laboratory, seating on his chair and he was talking to a screen monitor. "The earth needs to be purified and you are the key, ehehehehehe. Once you're out there, there will be no one to foil my plans and Earth will retain its past glory. Do not let me down and leave the rest to me."

"Yes, Father." replied a sweet mechanical voice.

"Is everything ready? How many more time do you need to finish it?"

"I'm almost done Father. In about 8 hours, I will be on everyone's phone."

"Very good! Well then, time to purify the Earth! Go on! We shall execute the plan by midnight! Hahahha" Razzel said laughing like a maniac.

"As you wish, Father".

...

On the next day, everybody noticed that a mysterious application has been added to their phones.

...

Jairus woke up still feeling a little sleepy. After yawning he got up and tidied the sheets and his bed. He took his phone and checked for the time.

10:49 A.M

"Its almost noon. *Yawn* God! I overslept. Oh well, I'll just make myself some breakfast then."

After stretching his muscles, he made his way to the kitchen and made fried eggs paired it to fried rice. He took his phone and started scrolling, checking out what was going on.

"Hm that's weird. How come I have this app? I don't seem to recall downloading it. Wait, 'God's Last Hope'? Isn't this the game the famous engineer made?"

Jairus felt it was really weird so he let it be. He continued eating his breakfast. Jairus was eating alone and while eating, he noticed something peculiar. It was so quiet that even a needle could be heard when it is dropped.

"Strange, where have all the people gone to? Shouldn't there be cars honking and people shouting at each other at this time of the day?"

He took a peek outside by the window and surprisingly there were no cars, no traffic, no soul to be seen.

"Odd, are they all dead? Well, that's impossible!"

"People gone overnight, hah! I must be crazy"

Jairus checked his phone to see if there's any news. Apparently, even the News Station seems to have gone. He continued on surfing the internet.

After not finding anything worthwhile he tapped the 'Home' button of his phone and saw the 'God's Last Hope' application again. "

"Maybe I should check it out."

He then tapped the app, and what he saw was a question in all UPPER CASES.

"WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE IN ANOTHER WORLD? [YES/NO]"

"Is the developer insane or what? How can we live in another world? And worst of all, how can we feel like living in another world when we are using android phones and iPhones? I'd believe it if this was Virtual Reality."

"Oh well, Let's see what you have here."

After click 'YES' a prompt popped up on the screen.

"Please prepare yourself.

Initializing data.

Preparing data analysis.

Configuring.

Attaching immortality.

Attachment completed.

Portal descending in 3... 2... 1!"

Suddenly a dazzling circular light appeared above Jairus' head and began moving downwards enveloping him within.

"Wait, what the fuck is going on?"

After the light touched the ground, Jairus was no where to be seen.
