Chapter 2 - P R O L O U G E : The Raven

Synthia's POV

*BEEEEP*

"Sorry!" I yelled as I quickened my pace to the train station.

I was running late because my stupid alarm clock woke me up late. I wasn't even able to eat breakfast. T~T

I was out of breath and panting by the time I reached the station. 'Geez, I'm really out of shape these days...' Before I could even catch my breath, I caught the train I needed starting to depart from the corner of my eye.

"Attention all passengers, Train Fishsticks will be departing in less than a minute."

'Holy quiznak! It's leaving!'

I bolted towards the closing doors of the train as fast as I can and managed to hop at the last second before it took off. I sigh in relief as my legs were on the verge of collapsing.

I look around for somewhere to seat and noticed that most were already taken. I then spotted a free one but it was beside a hooded guy. He was wearing earphones and was staring out the window, with a vermillion notebook laying on his lap. Despite his face mostly being covered up by his hoodie, his pale skin and a strand of his raven hair still stood out.

*SIGH* 'Might as well...'

I approached the lonesome guy and lightly shook his shoulder. He took off one of his earbuds and turned my way. My hazel eyes met with his bright ocean hued sights. It was so mesmerazing and deep.

'He is more attractive than I thought, now that I get a good look at his face.'

With the lazy look of his glowing azure eyes, his silky pale exterior and a slight amount of freckles littered widely across his face, from the bridge of his nose to his cheeks.

'He's so freaking adorable...'

"Um... Miss? Do you need something?"

His soothing voice snapped me out of my thoughts. He was staring at me with a adorably perplexed expression 'and slight annoyance? Or was I just imagining it?'

I can feel the embrassment crawl up my face when I realized I was staring at him. I was as red as a tomato.

"Uh, um, I was wondering if I could seat here? " I hesitantly asked as I scratch my nape.

His eyes widen right after hearing what I said, quickly shook his head and turned away bashfully.

'Did I say something wrong?'

"...It's fine..." He quietly murmured, almost as soft as a whisper, but was still loud enough for only me to hear.

'Huh? What's with that reaction?'

I awkwardly nodded and sat beside him while he went back to listening to his music and staring out the window.

'Gosh, this is so awkward.....'

*TAP TAP TAP*

My train of thoughts were cut off when I noticed him tapping on his notebook, probably to the beat of his music.

*TAP TAP TAP*

His tapping continued without him noticing that I was looking at him probably because he looks deep in thought. A few seconds passed, despite the train being populated by many, it felt like the moment was filled with tranquility and calmness as if replicating a breezy walk down a shore of an ocean under the setting sun. I started to zone out as a wave of exhaustion wash over me and I yawn.

'This is what I get for staying up late last night.'

My eyelids began to feel droopy and my vision slowly became blurry. I rested my eyes for a moment and the next thing I knew is...

*HOOOONK*

My eyes shot straight up and quickly scanned my surroundings. A blush formed into my face as I realized that I accidentally layed my head on the hooded guy's shoulder! He even had his hand mid-way of reaching out to me as if he was just about to wake me up.

"I-I'm so so so sooooorry! I didn't mean to--" I apologized covering my blushing face with my waving hands.

"It's fine." He calmly interrupted me and held both my hands down. His face was directly gazing at me and a soft grin was painted across his perfect skin.

For some reason, it feels like he's radiating some sort of glow. It's quaint yet charming.

Before I could even say anything the announcer beat me to it.

"Attention all passengers, Train Fishsticks has arrived at the East Train Station. Please, carefully depart the train in a straight line to the exit door. Avoid pushing and running to avoid unnecessary commotion with incoming passengers. Thank you and have a good day."

"I think we should get going now." The raven hair suggested.

I nod at him as I stand up from my seat and started head towards the exit. It starting to become crowded because of the many people that are departing the train. It was suffocating and cramp. Through all the commotion, I felt a hand grab my wrist and dragged me through the ocean of people and out the exit door.

I was panting for fresh air as we halt to a stop. I laid eyes to the same hooded guy I sat with in the train.

"Wha- Why?" I breathily questioned the boy.

"It's not safe squeezing in a large crowd like that specially for a highschooler like you." He nonchalantly answers.

"Aren't you one too?" I raise my eyebrow at him as I point out his uniform.

"Yes, but you get my point. What's your name?" He asks me as he examines at me from head to toe.

"Uh..." 'Should I tell this complete stranger my name?? SuRe, wHaT cOuLd Go WrOnG...'

(Please don't really)

"...it's Synthia..." I said highly hesitantly.

"...What about you?"

My question was followed by a comforting silence. 'Why isn't he answering?' The unresponsive boy got me curious and I shot him a suspicious look only to realize that he was still holding my wrist from before.

My face immediately turned into a blushing mess. 'Holy cheesecake... ahjduxicksjalwkc.'

"Ah..." He seemed to have noticed the same as me and let go of my hand. I must've gotten used to the warmth, because for some reason the cold isolation really bothered me. 'Why though?'

"Sorry, I got distracted." He shyly excused himself as he looks away while scratching his nape.

His shy demeanor was so adorable that I had to stop my face from having a fricking nosebleed. How could someone be so adorable???

"Also I wanted to ask, you're a highschooler right?" He ask for comfirmation, still not completely looking me in the eye.

"...yes?" I answered.

" Aren't you late for school?" He was staring at me, waiting for my reaction.

"OMAGASH, SCHOOL!" I nearly screamed my head off after my realization. Pure panic surge through me.

I face at slightly worried boy in front of me. I bowed, apologized and thanked him for earlier. I shaked his hand and said my good-bye.

"Take care." He shortly farewells to me in my panic state.

Right after that I immediately bolted to school, not wanting to stain my perfect record.

'I can't believe I forgot about school!'

'... Wait, I didn't get the boy's name. Synthia, you idiot!'

'Why am I thinking of him right now?! Kila and Francis are gonna kill me!'

I screamed at myself as I run my legs off on the way to school.

As I got closer to the gate I saw two figures waiting at its front.

"About time you showed up!" Kila, the girl with long brown braided hair on each side of her shoulders, jumped at me with full energy.

"We were starting to think you'd be late with only being 1 month in on our 4th year." Francis, the tall girl with glasses and black pixie cut, stated trailing the short girl from behind.

"I'm so sorry guys, my alarm clock decided to die out on me and I woke up late." I tearly said as I apologize to them.

"If that you mean you manage to stay up last night just to finish memorizing both the lyrics and dance for the new music album of Midnight Lillies, then I believe you." Francis sarcastically replied.

'Well, she's not wrong...'

"Wait, You already memorized the dance?! YOU HAVE TO TEACH MEEE!" Kila fangirled, screamed and shook me intensely.

"I.... Will.... Just..... Stop.... Shaking... Me... I'm.... Gonna... Vomit..." I struggled to talk in between her shaking. I started to not feel so good.

"She will teach you LATER, Kila, right now we have about 3 minutes left to go to class before we get a permanent 'late' on our record which can heavily affect a certain someone's campain for student counsil president." Francis, thankfully, interrupted Kila's death grip on me

"Well what are we waiting around for?! LET'S GO!!!" Kila said still filled with never ending energy as she drag both me and Francis towards the main building.

Meanwhile...

Unknown to Synthia, the raven haired guy stared longingly at her disappearing figure from a distance. He stared with a satisfied look in his eyes but is hidden underneath the look on his face filled with no emotions.

"Winter Hill Academy, this will be harder than I thought..."

"Even her personality reminds me of her..."
