Chapter 81 - The Banquet (2)

Jiang Mingyue glanced at her surrounding. It was nighttime, and she stood at the pavilion, waiting for her husband. Her lips curved into a smile as Mingyue heard the familiar footsteps. She turned around and met with Yang Yun's gentle and doting gaze.

"You're here early," Yang Yun approached Mingyue and grabbed both her hand. A frown appeared on his face when he felt her cold hands. "I know that you're staying in the palace to look after the princess, but please take care of yourself, too when I can't be by your side."

Mingyue laughed. "I know. It's just that," she paused and lowered her gaze. "I miss you. So I came over a bit earlier."

Yang Yun chuckled at Mingyue's words. He pulled her towards his embrace and let her head rested on his chest. His grip on her hands tightened as he tried to keep her warm. "I miss you too," Yang Yun said with a sigh. "I should have come over earlier."

Mingyue stayed in her husband's arm for a while and suddenly giggled.

"What is it?" Yang Yun asked. He pulled away to look at Mingyue's face.

"Sneaking to meet you at night like this, don't you feel like we're having an affair?"

Yang Yun's face darkened. He raised his hand and flicked Mingyue on her forehead. "What affair? We're married."

Mingyue pouted as she rubbed her forehead. Yang Yun had controlled his strength as he was afraid to hurt her, so her forehead was not as painful.

"Does it hurt?" Yang Yun started to panic when he saw Mingyue's aggrieved expression. He cursed himself for not being gentler with her and helped Mingyue to rub the painful area.

"It doesn't hurt so much," Mingyue said after a few seconds passed.

Yang Yun stared at his wife with a sigh. The two of them chatted briefly before Yang Yun untied the bag around his shoulder. "Grandfather sent a few pills and medicinal herbs for the princess. I also prepared a few snacks for you just in case if you get hungry in the hall later. Everything should be inside this bag."

Mingyue peeked into the bag to ensure the herbs she need were all inside the sack. Only then did she look at the snacks that Yang Yun had prepared for her. With one glance, Mingyue could tell that the snacks were from Yan Zifu's place. "Yang Yun, you are so good to me." Mingyue wrapped her arms around her husband's waist.

Yang Yun chuckled at her coquettish act and pinched her nose softly. "You should go now. The princess will be worried if you leave her side for too long." His gaze softened when Mingyue nodded absentmindedly. "Don't be sad. we'll see each other again after a few days at the hunting ground."

The couple parted after a while. Yang Yun headed out of the palace and headed towards the camp while Mingyue made her way to the banquet hall. The lively sound of music and laughter could be heard as Mingyue approached the building. Mingyue paused when she met a eunuch at the intersection.

The eunuch stopped when he saw Mingyue and greeted her. "Physician Jiang."

Mingyue nodded. She let the two men advance and glanced at the man behind the eunuch. Mingyue frowned as she thought that the man looked familiar face. Her eyes widened as she recalled seeing the man's portrait on Her Highness' candidates list before. "Isn't this is prince number five?" Mingyue whispered to herself.

Prince number five, however, seemed to hear her voice as he turned around and raised his brow towards Mingyue.

Mingyue immediately lowered her gaze and found her way into the banquet hall. She found the Crown Princess and stood behind her. "Your Highness."

The Crown Princess smiled when she saw Mingyue. "You're back."

"Grandfather prepared a new batch of pills for you," Mingyue reported. "You should consume it when we return to your palace."

Princess Lingchen nodded. A slight frown appeared on her face at the mention of her grandfather's new pills.

Because of her condition, Han Zhenting had prescribed a new pill for her to eat. Although the pills were beneficial and not as bitter as drinking a medicine, eating the pills were painful as her body would feel both hot and cold at the same time.

The princess turned her attention to the dancing girls at the center of the hall. After a while, she leaned back and whispered to Mingyue, "It took you a long time to come back. I hope you had a fulfilling meeting with Captain Yang Yun." Princess Lingchen glanced at Mingyue with a teasing smile.
