Chapter 43 - The Princess’ Illness Flared Up (1)

If only there were no rules that forbid her from running in the palace, Jiang Mingyue would had reached the princess quarters earlier. But because of such rules, Mingyue could only walk at a slower pace, while her heart beat furiously. Her hand clenched into a fist as she was worried over the Crown Princess' condition.

A moment ago, one of the Crown Princess' maidservant visited her at her green room and announced that Her Highness invited her over to her palace to have some tea. Mingyue knew the code. The Crown Princess would ask her to have some tea, whenever the poison appeared.

When Mingyue arrived at the Crown Princess' palace, there were a few guards stationed outside. A maidservant opened the door and ushered her in. Mingyue headed to the Princess' chamber room quickly.

Seeing a few heating stoves were lit up, Mingyue knew that her guess was right. She looked around the room and saw Ah Zhen heading towards her.

"Physician Jiang," Ah Zhen bent her knees and lowered her gaze to greet Mingyue.

Mingyue could see the sweat on Ah Zhen's forehead. She made her way to the Princess' bed and spoke to Ah Zhen. "How did this happened?"

Ah Zhen shook her head. She didn't know precisely how the Princess' illness flared up. "The Crown Princess had a long meeting with His Majesty today. Once Her Highness entered the room, she sent a few maidservants to invite you for tea. Then, she fainted. I have no choice but to drag the Princess to bed."

Mingyue frowned as she sat at a stool next to the Princess' bed.

"The weather outside is getting colder," Ah Zhen said. "Do you think this is why the Princess' illness relapsed?"

"Go boil some hot water and bring them here," Mingyue said to Ah Zhen. First, she checked the Princess' pale complexion. She noticed that the Princess was breathing with difficulties.

Then, she placed her two fingers on the Princess's wrist. She almost flinched when she felt her cold skin on her fingertips. Mingyue closed her eyes to study her pulse. After a few minutes, she looked at the Princess' face with a complicated gaze.

Swiftly, Mingyue took out a small pouch from her knapsack. She pulled out a few acupuncture needles and placed them at a few places on the Princess' body.

If only Ying Yi were around, she would know what to do and help her.

After a while, the princess' breathing calmed down. Only then did Mingyue took out a pill and force feed it to the Princess.

It was fortunate that Mingyue and her grandfather had created a pill for the princess. If she had to boil medicine every time the Princess' illness returned, sooner or later, others might found out something. After all, it would be hard to discard the dregs.

When Ah Zhen returned with a pail of hot water, Mingyue instructed her to wet a towel with the hot water and dabbed the Princess' body with a warm towel to keep her hot.

After a few hours of tending the Princess, her body temperature was no longer as cold.

Jiang Mingyue placed her fingers on the princess' wrist to take her pulse. She heaved in relief when she found out that her pulse had returned normal.
