Chapter 23 - Recuperating Well

Two days later, Yang Yun has been transferred to recuperate at her grandfather's small infirmary back in the capital.

During this time, Mingyue has been running from the palace and grandpa's place every day. With Han Zhengting and Mingyue's looking after him, Yang Yun injury recovered faster.

In a blink of an eye, Yang Yun has been forced to recuperate for two weeks.

When Mingyue came to visit him at her grandpa's infirmary, her eyes grew big with surprise when she saw he was helping her grandfather brewing medicine.

"You," Mingyue put down the parcel in her hand. She marched towards him and grabbed the fan in his hand. "What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be resting?"

"The doctor said it's fine to do this much as long as I don't tire myself," Yang Yun said. "My hands are alright. I've been resting in bed for weeks. Besides, I'm sitting on this wheelchair."

Mingyue looked at the wheelchair made of woods that her grandpa has prepared for him. She turned around when she heard a heartily laugh coming from behind her and saw her grandfather approaching them.

"Don't blame him," Han Zhengting said. "I asked him to help."

Mingyue glanced at Yang Yun and saw his smug smile. She turned to her grandpa and frowned with dissatisfaction. "He should be resting."

Han Zhengting sighed helplessly. "He has been sitting around watching the others do their job, and my men complained that it was too stressful to have him watching them all the time. They can't do their job properly. So I assigned him to some task."

Mingyue narrowed her eyes to Yang Yun.

"Don't worry too much. With my skills and your caring, he's recuperating well," Han Zhengting patted the girl on her shoulder. "At this rate, his injury will heal faster than we expected." His gaze moved towards the parcel on the table. "Is that for me?"

Mingyue took the parcel and handed it to her grandpa. "Mother made you some snacks."

Han Zhengting nodded. He unwrapped the parcel and peeked into the lunch box. The savory aroma from the pastries wafted across the room.

He closed the lunch box and watched the two youngsters with a cheeky smile. "You two go and do anything you want. I will ask one of my assistants to continue brewing the medicine."

Mingyue laughed. She knew that her grandpa wanted to get rid of them so that he would get the chance to enjoy her mother's cooking. "Thank you, grandpa."

She moved behind the wheelchair and pushed him towards his room.

Yang Yun paused as they reached the door.

"What's wrong?"

"Let's head to the backyard garden," Yang Yun said. "It has been a while since I get to breathe the fresh air."

Mingyue smiled, and the couple turned to head towards the backyard garden. She adjusted the wheelchair under the shady tree just beside the stone bench and crouched down beside him. Her gaze was on the injury on his leg. "Are you sure you're alright?"
