I tell you I love you every single day
With my actions, not the things I say
Until you're ready for those three words
I'll stumble through the dark
Until I find my way through the maze to your heart
I tell you I love you when I get you a gift
I promise I put a lot of thought into it
I'm studying ways to make you happy at least once a week
Cause I want you to smile every day
I know, in that, we think the same
I say I love you when we hold hands
And I know you know how happy I am
When my foot starts wagging like its a tail
I know you find my joy cute
(and I think the same of you)
I say I love you when to see you I drive an hour
And I bring a bouquet of candy flowers
For a few minutes of your time
This might sound cheesy, but its for your smile
So all the effort is, in my mind, worthwhile
I know you love me too
From the way you smile when we rendezvous
And how you greet me every morning
Though those three words are not something you're ready to say
I know it because you have a surprise in store every other day
I know it from the way you wash your hands
Because you're the only one who understands
In self-quarantine I need everyone to be careful or to stay 6 feet away
I know it from the way you always wear a mask
Although you find it a tedious task
I know you're not ready to say or hear
Although we say it in many, many ways
Those three words
Until you're ready to lay down the pathways
Quietly I'll wait for you here
I'll whisper my love to the screen
And giggle at the thought
But you won't hear a sound
Until you're ready for those words
Say them I will not.
